A: As your laptop does not have external sata or SAS interfaces, only Thunderbolt or USB, there would need to be a computer in between to manage the connection as well as disperse the drives properly into your laptop's file system. A computer basically, or file/drive server. This server would interface to each physical drive via SATA and provide connectivity via USB or some other consumer level connection method. This box cannot serve these drives alone without an actual computer with processor to handle traffic management and device connectivity.

A: The StarTech USB 3.0/eSATA to Dual 2.5/3.5" HDD/SSD Docking Station with UASP BH #STSDOCK2U33E is currently tested with up to 4TB drives according to Startech. We could not guarantee that a larger drive would work 100%.

Q: 10. Does a SAS controller is required for reading SAS disk or SATA controller on the motherboard will be fine?

A: Sata drives may be connected to SAS backplanes, but SAS drives cannot connect to SATA backplanes.

[1x 2.5"] Bought this to go with the ICY DOCK MB123SK-1Bs that I own. Easily put a SSD Samsung EVO in this EZConvert, which is solidly built, and slid it into the MB123SK-1B. Everything is working perfectly. 5

[1x 2.5"] A product that works perfectly right out of the box. It comes well packaged with mounting screws for those who need that (not required if you're using it with the old Mac Pro titanium series). Durable materials that doesn't seem flimsy or of poor quality. Open the lid and slot in the SSD drive, close the lid and off you go. When closing the lid you might get the feeling that the drive might not connect the SSD drive properly into the internal socket, but it works fine nonetheless. I bought two for my Mac Pro (2009 model) and I'm very happy with the choice. 5
