Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this a CMB drive?

A: The Toshiba 16TB N300 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD is a CMR hard drive.

Q: 2. Will this drive work with Windows 11?

A: The WD 16TB Gold 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal Enterprise HDD can be formatted to work with Windows 11.

Q: 3. Are they loud and noisy or not bad? I just bought two 12TB Seagate drives for my Drobo 8D and are really clanking and making lots of noise...almost sounds like something is for sure wrong. Thanks

A: Yes, mine are also loud and clanky. My experience with most enterprise products, be it routers, switches, or hard drives, is that they don't care about noise that much -- Just performance and reliability. So I believe what you are experiencing is normal.

Q: 4. What is the warranty on these drives?

A: The Toshiba 22TB MG10F Series 7200 rpm 3.5" SATA Internal HDD, B&H # TOMG10AFA22T, includes a 5 year warranty with Toshiba.

Q: 5. Is cache really only 64 MB? WD website indicates that 4 TB Black drives have 256 MB Cache.

A: Yes, the WD 4TB Desktop Performance 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal HDD Retail Kit BH #WEIDDP4 has 64MB Cache. The 6TB model has 256MB cache.

Q: 6. Is this drive hot swap-able if I use it with a internally mounted removable hard drive bay? Like the Thermaltake N0023SN Max 4 3.5 SATA HDD Rack. Thanks.

A: This drive is used in a internal connection and I have not tried to hot swap it. I think that if it were ejected properly, it could be hot swaped.

Q: 7. Are these brand new drives?

A: Yes, the WD 4TB Gold 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal Enterprise HDD, B&H # WE4003FRYZSP, is a new drive.

Q: 8. Is this a bare bones or OEM drive? I'm concerned about the warranty.

A: Its sold only as OEM, there is no retail packaging for this drive. When you get the drive register the drive on Western Digital website just as you would a retail packaged drive. The warranty is never an issue as B&H is a major retailer.

Q: 9. Is WD PWL that clicks every 5 seconds enabled in 8/10 TV series? I know it does on 4gb and 6gb I bought before here. And they are loud and shake my desktop. If it is, are we able to disable it?

A: From what I can see, you are not able to disable the click feature on the WD 8TB WD_BLACK Performance SATA III 3.5" Internal Hard Drive.

Q: 10. Can this 12tb drive be used as in a desktop Windows 10 PC as a secondary hard drive mainly for storing large picture RAW files and large video files?

A: The Gold version of WDC's HDs is designed for data center (server) environments. That simply means it is designed to have a longer life span with heavier use. You pay more for that verses similarly sized WDC Blue or Black HDs but to answer your question yes it will work in a desktop PC with Windows 10 as a secondary drive.

[5.61 W] These have a much lower noise/sound level then my previous HDD's, Seagate 7200 Desktop drives. They are running in RAID-0 as 16TB photo/video storage. In a RAID-0 configuration their Data speed is 315MB's+ Read-n-Write. Good price for what they deliver!

[5.61 W] Purchased two for new DS214+ Synology NAS unit - Work GREAT! Super easy install in synology NAS unit. You DO have to say, YES it's I know these are not the recommended Synology (Toshiba) Drives that Synology recommends..... But, nonetheless, they work without any issues I can determine. Installed as a Mirror RAID1 system. Ends up 7.3TB usable space... plenty fast, quiet, suits intended purpose. Would definitely recommend to others for Use in dual drive NAS unit!

[8 TB] These are arguably the best non-helium filled drives available. Toshiba offers helium filled drives too with capacities over 10TB.

[5.61 W] I already had one of these drives that I purchased earlier this year for my NAS, when an older WD drive recently conked out I immediately purchased another one of these. Drive is quiet and works like a champ, no issues.

[5.61 W] Why did I choose this drive? Search the following phrase with the quotation marks and find out why, In our opinion this is currently the highest value 4TB hard drive in the world.

I installed these two 4tb drives to replace the rather old Seagate 1tb Constellation drives. One is for my data, the other to backup that data. The only problem I had was the OS did not recognize the new drives until I went into Windows device manager and uninstalled the Standard SATA AHCI Controller and rebooted. Every time I installed or removed a drive, I had to also uninstall the controller. I'm not sure if it's the drive's fault, or the computer. No matter, they are working, and I know what to do if they disappear.
