Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello, are samsungs 870 EVO SSDs compatible with this model?, thank you

A: The Samsung 870 EVO SATA III 2.5" Internal SSD is not listed as a compatible drive with the QNAP TS-i410X 4-Bay Industrial NAS Enclosure.

Q: 2. I have an older TS 569L can the drives that have data on them be swapped into this unit w/o any additional configuration?

A: NAS drives should not be moved from one unit to another unit until the data has been backed up and relocated to another device. RAID configurations and hardware can vary and differences can corrupt or destroy data on drives. This would be true of the QNAP TS-932PX-4G 9-Bay NAS Enclosure BH #QNTS932PX4G and most other NAS on the market.

Q: 3. To rephrase my question, will the drive bays accept a 15mm tall drive?

A: Sure, you could put a smaller drive in the QNAP TS-H1290FX-7232P-64G-US 12-Bay NAS Enclosure's bays, and it should connect so long as it has a SATA III connection, but it won't be very secure, as these bays are designed to accommodate 2.5" (63.5mm) drives only.

Q: 4. Can you use SFP+ to RJ45 adapters to connect directly to a computer?

A: There is no need for adapters, as this has Ethernet ports. If you need more ports, you can use a switch.

Q: 5. Is there NVMe over Fabric support?

A: The QNAP TS-H1290FX-7232P-64G-US 12-Bay NAS Enclosure does not use NVMe-oF.

Q: 6. How can we mount M.2 NVME drives with it?

A: In the QNAP TS-h2490FU 24-Bay NAS Enclosure, the NVMe will get mounted into a 2.5" enclosure and has a SAS connection on the back of the enclosure.

Q: 7. what is the largest capacity ssd you can install?

A: Currently the largest supported SSD is 4TB.

Q: 8. How many of the 8 drives are lost to Parity etc when set to Raid 5? I'm wondering, how many are available for User Data?

A: When using the QNAP TS-873A 8-Bay NAS Enclosure with QSW-1105-5T Network Switch (BH #QNTS873ASW5T) in a RAID 5 setup, only one of the 8 drives would be used for parity.

Q: 9. Will I need to purchase rails separately to rack mount the TS-h1090FU?

A: The QNAP TS-h1090FU-7302P-128G 10-Bay NAS Enclosure (BH #QN907302P128), does not include rails. Compatible rails are the QNAP Rail Kit for 2 RU Rackmount Models BH #QNRB02.

Q: 10. Could I run this with a single drive to start?

A: Yes, the QNAP TS-233-US 2-Bay NAS Enclosure could be used with a single drive, but this would preclude any type of RAID, which would diminish either performance or parity.

[100 (Client)] This thing is replacing my TS 653 eventually. It is whisper quiet sitting right beside me. It is a faster Celeron than the 653 and it uses metal trays instead of plastic brackets. It gives my system a nice look. One thing all should be aware of is that the holes for the rack mount are smaller than the regular rack screws so keep that in mind. I didn't increase the memory as I bought the 8 GB model, and I love the B&H Payboo Card which saves money.

[Yes] Researched NAS drives prior to purchasing this one. I can say I have no regrets at all. I am pleasantly pleased and actually beyond pleased with my purchase. This is my first NAS drive and if this one holds up QNAP will be my future NAS purchases. I highly recommend it. Let me add it was extremely easy to set up.

[QTS 5.1.3] A solid choice for personal cloud storage, and with a lot of extra apps and features that can integrate with smartphones as well as computers. The SSD option does seem to speed up the access for frequently used files, and the newer CPU is better suited to this device's role than in previous models.

[Yes, 128 LUN] Works as advertised. Supports VAAI storage primitives iSCSI and NFS. Easy to configure and using QuTs Hero with ZFS. Excellent performance and flexibility, as well as dedupe and compression with external cloud storage providers as replication targets. Ordered U.2 - 2xNVMe trays and have 8TB of NVMe RAID0 across 4 PCIe lanes for massive cache performance. Easily maxxed out the system RAM to 64GB using non-ECC DIMMs works great even without using QNAP provided RAM. 10Gbe networking bonded with the 2x2.5Gbe ports for 15Gbe trunked to commodity switch is fantastic. Five 7200rpm x 18TB HDD, 4xNVMe 2TB and 2x4TB SSD for 11 total drives and 106TB raw storage even only using 9 bays. This thing is incredible for a home lab setup for vSphere.

[QTS 5.1.3] This was my first NAS setup for video editing, and it's been fantastic. A bit involved to set up, but the capabilities it has are incredible once you watch a few tutorials. I'm connected to mine through a 10g ethernet connection, using an ethernet to thunderbolt adapter to go into my MacBook Pro. It's nearly as fast as the thunderbolt RAID I have on my desk, but much larger and more powerful.

[8 GB DDR4] Using with Crucial 1Tb drives in RAID 5 and hitting 1.2Gb read for my home virtualization environment. I have older QNAPs that just keep running without failure.
