A: Probably not the best item for your project. We HAVE used it to attach a boom pole to the top of a light stand or a C-stand. Works wonderfully for that. But not to the top of a tripod plate.Plus, the torque created by a long pole's weight may just rip the tiny 1/4 screw right off the tripod.

A: You could attach a gimbal head to this clamp since it can hold up to 33 lbs. To get the head attached, you can use the Manfrotto 208HEX Head Mounting Plate with Hex Stud - 3/8 Thread B&H # MA208HEX which has a 3/8 male thread. Please see the image below for reference.

A: It is the same as Manfrottos. It is not a true ratchet. It must be pulled outward about 0.25 inches, but then it can be turned freely to any position. Just like Manfrottos, once it is in a new position it can be turned tighter or looser as needed. It requires very little room to tighten, pull out, rotate counter clockwise, push in, then tighten a little more, repeat as needed. Or loosen, pull out, rotate clockwise, push in, then loosen a little more, repeat as needed.
