Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello, would this fit on a Neumann 89i respectively over a Neumann WS89?

A: This windscreen is designed to fit over the Rycote 45/100, which is a foam shield for 2.17" diameter mics. Since the Neumann U89i is 1.8" in diameter, this windscreen will be too large for the WS89.

Q: 2. HelloDoes the microphone includes Remote Audio 5-Pin Stereo XLR Female to Dual XLR Male Y-Cable - 18?

A: What'sIn the Box:Shure VP88 - Cardioid Stereo Condenser MicrophoneFoam WindscreenSwivel-Stand AdapterMulti-Connector Y-Cable: Included 'Y' cable with 5-pin female XLR connector on microphone end, 2x 3-pin male XLR connectors on equipment ends 6V BatteryZippered Carrying/Storage BagLimited 2-Year Warranty

Q: 3. can i buy a windscreen for this mic?

A: BH #AUWCFUB440 would be a suitable windscreen for the Shure PGA27 Large-Diaphragm Side-Address Condenser Microphone.

Q: 4. Hello, would this fit a Lewitt LCT 440 Pure microphone?

A: The Rycote Windjammer for 45/100 Foam for Large Diaphragm Condenser may fit on the Lewitt LCT 440 Pure, but we are not able to test it on the mic to be able to confirm this since the Windjammer is only available by special order (we don't have it in stock). The Windjammer is designed to fit over the Rycote 45/100 Large Diaphragm Mic Foam (B&H # RYLDM4510001).

Q: 5. Specifically for Rycote Mini Windjammer; Is this a full cover with foam substrate, or just the furry cover?

A: The Rycote Mini Windjammer is a fur cover only, designed to slip over a microphone's foam windshield.

Q: 6. Is this the best mic for recording a quartet or small choir or group of instrumentalists where the microphone will be 5 to 10 feet way from the performers?

A: This is an excellent microphone for the price and well suited for your stated application.

Q: 7. Is there a mount for this microphone on a HVX-255?

A: Due to the weight and diameter of the Rode NT4 it is difficult to shock mount this mic on a camera. You are able however to adapt the incuded stand mount the RM3 to your cameras shoe with a simple adapter. The Tether Tools hot shoe adapter features a 3/8 male thread that will support the stand mount using the 3/8 thread adapter that was included with the stand mount.

Q: 8. How long is the 5-pin to 2 3-pin XLR stereo breakout cable that is included?

A: The Superlux S502MKII ORTF Stereo Condenser Microphone (BH # SU502MKII) includes an approximately 0.6 meter breakout cable assembly.

Q: 9. What is the distance between the two lyres? I've heard its 1 , but just wanted to confirm that before I buy one :)

A: Thank you very much for the quick responses :) I plan on using the INV6 with my Schoeps active bars! But I'm in the process of making my own PAS(Point At Stacks) active bars out of 20mm delrin and 3/8 stainless steel threaded rods as well, and just wanted to know the distance between the lyres so that I can make a super small PAS bar! I was going to make my smallest PAS bar about 1 1/4 long, so this will be perfect! And then I'm going to make a few at DINa/DIN/NOS spacing as well to use with my NBob SGC Clips(custom Schoeps SGC clips that are made from delrin and aluminum bases)! So this INV 6 will be absolutely perfect! So thanks again for the answers fellas ;)

Q: 10. Will it plug into SLR's (Nikons)?

A: The Senal SCM-660 will not plug into SLR's. You'll need a mixer or interface box to do so; i.e. B&H# SOMIXPRED, AZFMX22.

[Phantom Power] I use pro37 for the situations such as recording a big jazz band where each player needs a microphone. I also use this microphone for recording strings and vocals in addition to for horns and drums. In another words, this is an all round microphone. I currently have 7 of this microphone. I will buy more of pro37 as the number of channels of my recorder increases. Goods: 1; Not much colored frequency response. I mix with Earthworks SR20s when I need a larger number of microphones. Sounds from both microphones are nearly undistinguishable in many cases. 2. Good off axis frequency response. 3. Not conspicuous at live recordings. 4. Low cost Negatives: 1. Higher noise floor. This microphone is not usable at distant positions like tens of feet away. But, at proximity positions like within a few feet from the sound source, the microphone noises are not audible in most cases. 2. No brand name value - not usable for people who love Neumann.

[Supercardioid] Sounds as good as the reviews (like Warren Huart's) have stated. They sure feel very light, but they punch way above their weight!

[Supercardioid] When I received these mics I had a slightly mixed first impression. The case was nice but the slots for the mics left them very slightly loose. The foam windscreens fit the mics perfect and are more uniform than many I've seen. The fit and finish of the spreader bar is less than stellar and the mic clips are pretty basic. The fit and finish of the mics themselves is excellent.

After just a bit of testing I was grinning and couldn't be happier with my purchase. The sound is silky smooth and very natural. I prefer a neutral sound from a mic, and these deliver. I haven't done a ton of testing yet, but from my initial testing I'm extremely pleased with the sound. What sound profile you prefer is fairly subjective, but I think these are going to be great for me.

The main thing that impressed me with these mics is the low noise floor. I tested these along side a Rode NT5. Based on the specs I hoped the noise floor would be better, but it's night and day. My NT5 has a noise floor that isn't terrible, but it never impressed me. Maybe I just got a poor sample. Either way, after making test recordings I listened first to the NT5. When I switched to the sE8 my eyes went wide because it was not a subtle difference. The sE8 has a far lower noise floor.

They are a bit heavier, if that's an issue for you.

With the adjustable pads and high-pass filters, smooth sound and low noise these mics are versatile and offer great performance. Not the cheapest out there, but highly recommended for the price.

[End Address] The sound is very clean and detailed. Sensitivity is a bit higher than average AF condensor microphones. Resulting in a much lower final noise level. The mic is really small and would be very unobtrusive in music related video productions.

[Solid-State] I did a lot of research for a matched pair of SDC mics that can get close to Neumann 184s in quality but for a LOT less money. These are it. They have a great neutral-sounding response, perfect for acoustic instruments. Recommended.

[0.86 lb] Purchased a stereo set to use as interior dialogue boom mics and have since used them for everything from dialogue recording to piano, to room mics and they preform excellently across the board.

Similarly to the HC shotgun mics, they have a well defined mid-range and a smooth, un-hyped low end. They might be a little bright for some applications but the clarity you get out of the box is worth it even if you have to tame it slightly with EQ.

No RFI issues noticed and the small size makes it a great boom mic for low ceilings or if you need to split a mic between two speakers. It’s built like a tank and the included case is excellent.

[Phantom Power] These have a beautifully balanced frequency response with nice low frequency extension. Not hyped, just present and smooth. They are also very quiet and exceptional for nature recording (which is my purpose)

I'm using the set in a modified Crown SASS rig which is light years better than the original. Very happy with the results.

[Supercardioid] Exactly what was expected and needed for a piano recording session. Later used for violin and viola with great results.

[End Address] I've been recording all kinds of concerts for the last few decades, and one super-reliable one-size-will-fit-almost-all approach for orchestras is two small diaphragm condensers, up over the conductor's head, splayed out sideways. (The ORTF style specifies an angle of 110 degrees, the NOS configuration is 90 degrees. Both have their unique strengths.) These Lewitt LCT 140's are spectacular in this application: over the weekend I recorded a tracker organ (which means mechanically operated- other than the electric blower fan, this is the kind of organ Bach knew and loved) concert in an 1800's church, and the results were amazing. The different registers and voices came through distinctly, and the rumbling of the pedals was earthquake-like. The weekend before that, it was a cello-guitar duo, and the mikes were placed on knee-high stands in front of each player. Again, the capture was thrilling, larger than life- the guitar crisp and punchy, the cello sweetly singing. This was all with the "flat" setting, as opposed to the "high end sparkle accentuation" setting, which seems like a wonderfully slick way to heighten the clarity of some instrument meant to have the central focus. The onboard pad and low cut options are also fabulous to have, when you need to contend with the rigors of the real world, which can get noisy and can be unpredictable at times. For many years I was using Oktava MK-012's for these kinds of duties, and later Avant CK-1's, fantastic mikes indeed, but from now on it'll be the Lewitts. Since these are so lightweight, you'll want special shockmounts (I got the Rycotte Inv-6 softies). And if you still need convincing: check out ANY of the multiple Youtube videos where people put these to the test- music, voice, sound effects, whatever.

There is just something about the accuracy, the precision, the truthfulness of these things... you will be a believer, I guarantee.
