Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hey Friends at B&H. This camera looks like it has huge potential and delivers so much for the price. There is lots of good info here but I still have a few things I’d like to know before buying. Here are my questions: 1) Start up time. From off to ready to record, what is the wait time? 2) The Camera advertises 15 stops of dynamic range. Sounds awesome! Has anyone seen this tested on a xyla chart to confirm? Also is the dynamic range less when the camera is set to some ISO? 3) Has anyone seen rolling shutter tests compared to other CMOS sensors of a similar size (FS7, Alexa, EV1, Gemini?) 4) Has anyone seen test footage of the low light that has technical information about the amount of light the images were recoded in as well as ISO, Stop and shutter angle? Love to see noise comparisons between other cameras in class. 5) Any bugs? Anyone here had the chance to use the camera for 100+ hours? If so any weirdness or unreliability? 6) Is it true that settings / info display cannot be sent though SDI to an external monitor? If anyone has information or links that answer these questions it would be very much appreciated. Alternatively I’s be happy to do the tests if a demo camera can be spared for a few days. :) 7) Last question, BH stock still says coming soon. Anyone know how soon soon is?

A: 1) About 7-8 seconds. 2) The camera does provide 15 stops of dynamic range. 6) You can enable settings/info to be displayed on the SDI outputs via the monitoring settings.

Q: 2. Can we record to Prores in 4.6K@120fps, 4K@150fps and HD@300fps?

A: ProRes 4.6k is 80 frames max. UHD windowed is 120. And HD windowed is 240.

Q: 3. Will there be an RF mount for the Ursa Gen2?

A: There has been no announcement as to that. I would think not since it would require moving the sensor or the mount 22mm, Definitely not soon. However, Grant Perry and his Blackmagic team have created miracles before so who knows.

Q: 4. What are the limitations of the 300fps? For example is there a massive crop? Is it line skipped? Is there a continuous recording limit? Can it be recorded in BMRAW still?

A: The URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 is capable of recording at up to 300fps in 1080 HD window (crop) mode in Blackmagic RAW. There is no limit on continuous recording in any format.

Q: 5. Not sure if I understand the specs right. Is ISO 3200 the maximum this camera is capable of?

A: That is correct. The ISO goes up to 3200.

Q: 6. would the The Canon CN-E 18-80mm T4.4 COMPACT-SERVO Cinema Zoom Lens require RAILS (LENS SUPPORT) for this camera? if yes, which one? thanks!

A: It does not require a lens support however it is recommended. There are no proprietary lens support systems just about anything here is a sample kit that is worth considering. Kondor Blue Universal 15mm LWS Bridge Plate for ARRI/RED/URSA/C70/VENICE B&H # KOKBUARRIBRP MFR # KB-UARRI-BRP Axler 15mm Aluminum Rod Set (12") B&H # AXR15A12 MFR # R15-A-12 Tilta 15mm LWS Rod Lens Support B&H # TILST05 MFR # LS-T05

Q: 7. if i want to use this in studio without a battery, does it already come with a power adapter and/or cable? thanks!

A: It comes with a power supply however you need to purchase an IEC cable. we recommend the Comprehensive Standard PC Power Cord - 10' (B&H # COPWCBK10 MFR # PWC-BK-10)

Q: 8. any chance will there be E mount version so that Fujinon's MK cine zoom lenses can be used on it|?

A: We will pass your request along. We cannot comment on the future of products.

Q: 9. What is the NITS rating of the LCD screen?

A: Blackmagic does not list a NIT rating for the monitor on this camera. However they do say that it is Super Bright. You should be able to use it outdoors under most circumstances.

Q: 10. It does not come with a battery plate attached to the back? Do I have to buy it separately? And which would you recommend?

A: That is correct, batteries along with a battery plate are not included. B&H # BLUMPROVMNT is a great kit from IndiPro Tools that comes with two 98Wh Micro Batteries, V-Mount Plate and a Charger. https://bhpho.to/2TsfJYg

[Soft Case] Fits my FX9 well with a Core power adapter and a Anton Bauer brick. It takes a minute to put it in, but once it’s on all controls are visible and accessible. Most importantly, it appears that it’ll keep everything dry. I’ve only had it if light drizzle so far and all was good.

[7.58 lb] This case is very well built, great for traveling. I'm a professional and I always buy Porta Brace and I've never been dissapointed. I would pay dour the price for their cases.

[7.58 lb] Carries my ursa mini with lens attached and with viewfinder and shoulder mount, 4 v-mount batteries, one extra lens, shotgun mic, and accessories. If I need less or have more hands, I fill it a little less full and throw the other stuff in pelicans, but for one man band stuff it carries everything I need except for a tripod and a LED panel.

[7.58 lb] The cover does exactly what I was hoping it would: cover the camera and EVERY piece that comes with it, and still gives me enough space to get my hands on it. I've bought rain covers for my Canon 5D in the past that left no room for my hands. This one leaves ample room while still covering the camera, lens, LCD screen, and handle. Thanks to an adjustable cord I am able to cover my lenses safely as well.

[Soft Case] This pack is built for large projects requiring cameras, lights, audio recorders, and batteries. Yep, it can handle all of these items with no problem, you need to ask yourself if your back can handle lifting all the gear at one time!

[7.58 lb] This product is perfect for daily dslr usage. your lenses and bosy are perfectly protected in this rock solid bag. Ina addition to the protection there are pockets for ALL you accessories...there are hundreds. capacity would be an issue if you need to carry around more than three lenses, however this fits my 11-16, 35mm and telephoto perfectly
