A: Hi EugeneThe Lacie 4TB Rugged Mini Portable Hard Drive is technically 5 Gigs per second using USB 3.0, but I wouldnt rely on that speed. Everything depends on how you are using the drive - if you need fast access time, such as video editing, this isnt the drive. I do video editing and use these Mini Portable Drives for backup and storage. I use LaCie 4TB (2 x 2TB) Rugged RAID for the editing itself with a MacBook Pro. Great portability and no AC. [2 TB] 1st I got a 1TB Toshiba Canvio drive a little more than a year ago. The appeal was the simplicity. I've had other drives and find it annoying to continue updating the software and syncing, etc. so I wanted a simple drive that acts like a regular folder, and that's what the Canvio model does well. Well, as I did more backups I needed more space so I got this 2 TB drive, which works just as well. 5
