Q: 1. How can this actually capture prores or DNxHD? So far I haven't found any information to help and the uncompressed files are too big for my budget.

A: It is up to the video application you are using to record with to provide the available recording codecs. Not all video applications support ProRes and DNxHD for recording. In some cases you can install the codecs on the computer and they will then show up as recording formats in your video application. If you are using Blackmagic Media Express to record with you'll need to first install the Apple ProRes codecs (the Apple Pro Video Formats install is available through the Apple store), reinstall the Desktop Video drivers, and Media Express will then show the option to record in Apple ProRes formats.

Q: 2. Where are the S-video and composite video inputs? The breakout cable picture does not show them.

A: Yes the breakout cable has composite inputs and an S-video breakout cable. This unit is overkill for s-video and composite. Better for 1080i capture. There is less expensive alternatives for composite and s-video.

Q: 3. Will this capture MP4?

Q: 4. Can you run two at the same time in one computer? (win 8.1) Also is it know if it works in OBS? Thank you :)

A: As long as the computer is powerful enough and has the slots available you can install multiple cards. what do you mean by OBS?

Q: 5. According to your specs , I see the this card has 2 inputs ( one HDMI , the other component ) ... Can I capture via the 2 inputs simultaneousit?????

A: nope

Q: 6. Would this work with the Mac Pro 2019 ?

A: While I haven’t tried that specific configuration, there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn’t work. I have it working in an external thunderbolt cage plugged into my MacBook Pro and it works fine. I thunk there’s extremely little chance you’ll run into any problems. Don’t forget to download the driver software.

Q: 7. I have a 2009 Mac Pro 8 Core. Can I use this with my Sony A99V to live stream 1080P on facebook/youtube?

A: Of course, that's what it is for. It will take any input. Just make sure you use the correct encoding for 1080p.

Q: 8. I have a Canon T5 for shooting video. Can I use this card to capture at 4k or am I limited to 1080p? Will the card upsample the input without quality loss?

A: This card does capture at 4K. I am not completely sure but I don't think this card upsamples. It does take in video at it's native resolution and does a great job of it.

Q: 9. Can this be installed on a server running windows 2012 R2?

A: yes, i dont see why not this is a simple capture card design to capture and preview your footage from any editing software , Premier , Final Cut , avid ,

Q: 10. Will this card output UHD HDR rec.2100 HLG video when used with DaVinci Resolve Studio?

A: The Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro 4K is not listed has having HDR capability.

[272] Used it with a Sonnet Echo Express with my Origin Gaming Win 10 laptop. Until I realized that this existed, I wished my camera could tape in 4K and live stream in 720p. Now I can! 5

[October, 2012] Just follow the directions for installation carefully and it works well. I'm on an old Mac Tower and use it to output with FCP X. No issues or lag in the video. Highly recommend. 5

[October, 2012] we use the Intensity 4k pro to stream the live feed from the Black Magic switcher. we are streaming at 1080p 59.94 frames. the signal is routed thru wirecast 6. The video card is easy to install and update. once working all you have to do is plug in the HDMI cable or any other RCA type cable and you are ready.on the video card face the HDMI input and output are not labeled. the RCA cable are marked. 5

[Focal Press] Reading the other reviews it seems many have issues getting this to work. I had ZERO issues... Go to the blackmagic website and get the latest version of the software and install it. power off, install card, power on... Done. Run the configuration app to change your settings to match your input/output sources and then launch the DesktopVideo app to start capturing. I used this to capture some old VHS footage without a timebase corrector, so as I expected, really unstable footage was not able to be captured but it was a small percentage. Keep this in mind if you are looking to capture old VHS/8mm. As other reviews stated, the file sizes are huge when capturing, but with contemporary large drives this is not really an issue. Once you compress down the files, a 40GB Vhs capture can be H264 compressed down to about a 700MB Mp4. I also edit with Premiere Pro and use the HDMI out to a standard LED TV to preview what my output will look like on standard display. Quality is good and had no issues. Overall I think the Intensity Pro 4K performs as advertised. Simple install, Ease of use and great quality captures makes this a great purchase. 5

[October, 2012] The fact that you can now purchase a capture playout card that is under $ and can handle 4K (UHD) footage is astounding. I've only used it a couple times since I got it, but for ingesting and playing out 1080P footage, it works great.I have it installed on my MacPro 2,1 (from 2007) and it works great. Amazingly, all this card needs is a 4x PCI Lane. 5
