Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it an internal zoom?

A: This lens has internal focus but does not have internal zoom.

Q: 2. How does the image quality/sharpness compare to the Sony 24-105 f4 in 24-70 range?

A: The Sigma 24-70mm art lens is very good but in my opinion, the sharpness is better on the Sony.

Q: 3. does this lens have a mechanical focus, or is it fly-by-wire only?

A: The focus is electronic and not directly coupled with the focus ring.

Q: 4. Is this lens parfocal like the 24-70mm G Master?

A: Yes it is parfocal.

Q: 5. How fast is the auto focus on this lens? Would it work for fast action shooting in low light like basketball in a poorly lit gym?

A: The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens for Sony E uses Sigma's stepping autofocus motor, which yields fast, precise, and notably quiet autofocus performance. The lens has fast focus performance and as it is a bright f/2.8 lens, it would be good for use in low-lighting conditions.

Q: 6. Sony A6600 With this lens, can be balanced in Ronnin sc?

A: It is within the maximum load so the answer is yes. You will be at about 3.4 lbs where the Gimbal is rated for up to 4.4 lbs.

Q: 7. Listen i really want this lens. Is there any adapter i could purchase to use this on the sony A7RIV?

A: I'm not sure if you realize that Sigma makes this lens for a Sony mount but maybe you do and your asking because the Sony version is not in stock. But to answer your question, no, there is not a an L to Sony E lens adapter.

Q: 8. Does this lens work with Sony PXW-FX9K XDCAM 6K Full-Frame?

A: Yes, you can use this lens on that camera.

Q: 9. Being a focus by wire lens, does this lens offer linear like manual focus on A7 series cameras? I know that some Gmasters do but cannot find any information on the Sigma.

A: Hi, I tested this out for you using the 24-70 GM & the Sigma 24-70 DG DN. On manual focus it works the same, it's linear.

Q: 10. Does the zoom lock work at arbitrary focal lengths? Like can it lock at 35mm or only at 24mm?

A: The zoom lock is so the lens does not move in transport by its self. It is set when the lens is zoomed to its widest.

[0.13 lb] Good zoom range, love the 2.8, and it is made for digital native Sony! Sharp all the way through. My neighbor was impressed and purchased one too from B&H.

[0.13 lb] I love this lens, it's versatile, sharp and affordable. I shoot most of my stuff between 24-70 so it's perfect. Build quality is top notch on Sigma Art lenses, focus throw is particularly good for a focus by wire system.

I would love it if they put the aperture control on the lens itself, but old habits die hard.

I made a review on the lens that can be seen here if interested. Not looking for subscribers, but not a lot of reviews for the L mount on the S camera bodies for this lens, so figured I'd bang one out.

[0.13 lb] If you have been on the fence, stop. Just stop it. Look at yourself? What are you doing? This is nonsense. The quality you get out of this lens is second to none and is 1/2 the price of the g master. Plus, the resale on this lens is upwards of 90%+ so you have no issues if you got caught in a pinch needed to sell.

I use this for both photography and video and it looks great for both. Stop waiting and just buy this lens. Or don't, and sit lie in your bed at night staring at the ceiling wondering why you can't pull the trigger.

[0.13 lb] I have been really impressed with the build quality of this lens. It is very well constructed, and it feels great in the hand. The image quality is superb, and it is clear and sharp across the whole range.

I'm using it on the Sigma FP and they pair very well. I would strongly recommend that you use it with a cage, otherwise the camera gets dwarfed by the lens. A cage also provides a larger grip, which is essential when using a lens of this size and weight.

[0.13 lb] This lens is incredibly sharp. I’ve been using it with my a7ii and it’s my new work horse lens. Great focal range and it’s not too big. It would be great for shooting events.

[0.13 lb] I know why a lot of you are here reading reviews of this lens: you are torn between the G-master or Sigma. Let me save you a lot of time. For over $1000 less, the Sigma is a fantastic value with solid build-quality and outstanding optics.

The 24-70 focal range is a no-brainer - it's extremely versatile, providing excellent wide to medium creative flexibility. Shoot at portraits at 70mm f/2.8 for nice subject isolation and bokeh, or shoot landscapes at f/5.6 24mm. It does both extremely well. Focusing is quick enough for me (not shooting action sports or racing here), and focus accuracy has been good.

My only complaint is that when importing raw files to photoshop, the software doesn't automatically detect the lens details in the lens corrections settings (perhaps a failure of photoshop, idk).

Either way - stop hesitating. Save yourself a bunch of money and get this awesome lens!

[0.13 lb] I wanted to upgrade my kit 28-70mm and be able to use a wider aperture. This lens is the perfect balance of price and quality! The autofocus in video is perfectly silent and catches quickly with no hunting, that I've seen so far. Only issue is that it's quite a bit larger and heavier than I was expecting, which really isn't that big of a problem. Definitely consider this lens.

[0.13 lb] Not a lot of L mount options for the S series, great options, but not a lot of them. The Lumix S series are fantastic, but cost twice as much as this one. Not sure that price differential is really apparent for many of us.

Solid build quality and quite sharp across the F/STOP scale I think it's my ONE AND DONE L mount lens. I mostly shoot vintage lenses, but wanted one native mount lens for my S1H. This is it.

I reviewed this a few weeks ago here, not looking for subs, but just passing on my experience and samples with the lens. Chapters for easy navigation in the body of the video.
