The Yamaha MG10 Mixer - 10 Inputsfrom Yamaha MG10 Mixer - 10 Inputsis a compact ten-input mixer for performances, lectures, recordings and similar applications. The mixer features four mic/line combo inputs with D-PRE mic preamps as well as six 1/4" line inputs with stereo level controls.

Each of the four mic/line inputs is equipped with a 3-band EQ, pan control and a high pass filter. The four D-PRE mic preamps feature an inverted Darlington circuit and switchable 48V phantom power for use with dynamic and condenser microphones. They also each feature 26dB attenuation switches for recording loud sound sources such as guitar amplifiers.

The MG10 mixer has stereo XLR and TRS outs for connecting to your PA system or monitor speakers. It also has a 1/4" headphone output with level control for personal monitoring, as well as additional TRS 1/4" stereo monitor outs for sending to powered speakers, amplifiers or devices such as digital recorders.

A: +48 volt phantom power is available on channels one through four.

A: the channel 1 through 4 ins are literally both XLR and TRS 1/4 combo jacks. You can convert any of the additional TRS to XLR its literally the same balanced analog signal.

Q: 3. Can you adjust the volume between playback coming from your computer, and the input coming from your mic? Most audio interfaces have an input/playback knob where you can adjust and hear varying levels of the track playing on your computer, and what's coming out of your microphone.

A: Yep. Every channel is individually adjustable for volume including anything coming in from the computer or mic.

Q: 4. can I use both XLR and 1/4 Outputs at the same time?

A: The Yamaha MG06 6-Input Mixer (B&H # YAMG06) features XLR and ¼" line/instrument outputs that can be active simultaneously.

Q: 5. Do I need an interface for this or does it's USB channel work the same way?

A: This unit features a built in interface. When connected to a computer the mixer will pass the main stereo mix via its USB connection.

Q: 6. Can You Record While Playing live On To A Recorder?

A: Yes, you can connect the output from the Yamaha MG10XU Mixer to an audio recorder to record a live performance. You can also record directly to a Mac or Windows computer, or to an iPad using the mixer's built-in USB audio interface.

A: The Yamaha MG10X (BH #YAMG10XCV) does not have a USB interface. The Yamaha MG10XU (BH #YAMG10XU) however, does.

A: The mixer offers basic EQ control on the mic input channels but does not remove delay.

[7x Channel Knob] Im just a garage band guy and have only owned a couple of toy mixers. So I cant give an expert review...But coming from the novice side. ...This is a huge step up in quality and usability from the $40 junk Ive been using. 5

[7.105 lb] Great product. I use this to run 2 mics and computer audio for a 30 minute show at county/state fairs. Lots of travel and it has held up well. Easy to use and looks great. I highly recommend this mixer. 5

[4] I use as a small mixer for small gigs, and as a submixer for an integrated multi HH wirless system. Also for sub mix for live recording - pre console/DAW Small, inexpensive. XLR outputs which most boards in its calls do not have and reason I bought this over others. The one knob compressor is a nice feature for the dynamic mics to add gain without out board gear in performing applications. I wouldnt use it for recording as its preset ratios and threshold. Preamps are not as good as its higher end models, but at this price range and for live use in smaller club application its a perfect board with the versatility that surpasses others in its class. Use for performing as a solo or small combo and its perfect. use only as a pre sub to console without copression in recording application 5

[4] Finally replaced my old Shure Brothers mixer from the 1970's with a modern one. The Shure Brothers was built well and is still in service somewhere but this new Yamaha is so loaded with features and handy connections it had to take center stage. I use it in my home studio to record radio skits. Just right for my purposes: clean sound, lots of controls and streamline design. 5

[4] I use it for videotaping when I need only a few mics or if I am getting a feed from the venue. It has enough features to make it flexible and the size makes it ideal for travel and set up. It has saved me many times when audio has been difficult. 5
