Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this mixer power high impedance headphones such as the sennheiser hd650's ?

A: The headphone output on the Yamaha MG10XU will cater to headphones with a nominal impedance of 40 ohms. Because the HD650's are 300 ohms, the use of an external headphone amplifier will be beneficial and recommended.

Q: 2. CAN YOU SHOW ME HOW TO CONNECT EQUIPMENTS TO mg16 MIXER FOR A GOOD PERFORMANCE?

A: Please refer to the Yamaha owner's guide provided at the link below for all connections and operating details:http://bit.ly/1HkvRk9

Q: 3. Does this come with it's own dust cover?

A: No it does not. However, this dust cover will fit, BH#GAGMC2222.

Q: 4. How stable is the USB connection? Can you use it during gigs?

A: I have not heard any complaints about stability of the connection itself. I have heard about some of the most recent Windows OS updates not being compatible with this mixer. Another small mixer with a usb connection that is known for its reliability would be B&H part # MAPROFX12V2.

Q: 5. No Hi-Z switch for any of the inputs--therefore, I can't/shouldn't plug an electric guitar or bass directly into this mixer; I should use a 'direct box'--am I understanding that correctly? Thanks.

A: That is correct. Since there is no Hi-Z switch on this mixer a direct box would be required to plug a guitar or bass into it. Here's a solid DI option B&H # RAPRODI.

Q: 6. Are the 1/4 inputs on channels one through four balanced TRS?

A: Channels 1-4 on the mixer are XLR and XLR can be balanced or unbalanced. Depends entirely on how you choose to output the mic channels.

Q: 7. For the USB output, will the entire stereo mix of all inputs be sent over USB?The description says it provides two channels out - I presume these are the two L/R channels of the full mix?

A: On the MG16XU the signal from the STEREO L/R bus is output is output to the computer via the USB connection. This is sourced pre fader and not affected by the STEREO master fader.

Q: 8. Can I do loop back recording? Where I can record a vocal in real time over a karaoke track played from a web browser or media player.

A: Unfortunately you cannot it's a mixer not a recorder.

Q: 9. How FX send works?

A: The FX level on each channel also feeds to TRS FX send (TRS output) for routing to devices such as external FX units or monitor mixers

Q: 10. Is this an analog or digital mixer?

A: Analog

[-78 dB] Ive had several of this series of mixer including the 20 channel. They are all solid and reliable. I particularly like the ones with the parametric mid control as there is often a low frequency in speakers and rooms that need toning down. For the versions with digital effects, I dont use much of that, in part because you have to use the Aux controls to affect specific channels... you normally dont want the effect to apply to all channels. But overall, these are great, reasonably priced mixers. Yamaha makes good gear in general.

[30 W] Completely satisfied, originally ordered a smaller mixer from another brand but one channel had noise so I traded in and upgraded. No regrets, it's great quality. Using to select which synths I'm sampling in my AKAI Force.

[30 W] I use the MG16XU for off site audio applications. The built-in compressor and effects are great features for those who need a mobile unit without a digital cost. The MG16XU's 2 Pre-Aux Channels are great for multiple monitor mixes. The USB in provides an easy connection from my laptop to plan background music. Great purchase.

[20 lb] I am a dj but needed this mixer to control a mic and a piano, I had no issues with it. It was an open space and had about 400 attendees it did its job with no heating issues as some people had said.

[20 lb] Great mixer. Easy set up, easy use. I use it as a mixing panel for connecting several devices: cd player, turntable, DJ controller, and so on. Works great. Very interesting pricing, specially when compare to DJ mixing panels with build in FX. I would recommend this device!

[26 dB (mono)] We use this for live sports webcasts and it offers very good sound, especially when you learn how to properly balance volume, gain and compression. We use three headset mics plus a fourth input for a recording/playback device and run the audio out through the USB2 jack to our laptop.
