Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the length of this gear?

A: The length of the product would be the same as in the original packaging which is 9.8 inches.

Q: 2. How much weight can this support?

A: While the manufacturer doesn't publish a load capacity, this Baby Adjustable Offset Arm should have no issues holding a light that is 4-6 lbs.

Q: 3. What is the weight capacity?

A: Matthews does not specify a weight load limit. You will need to consider the load strength of your light stand and if it can handle the off axis weight of the arm.

Q: 4. Does the two 5/8" pins pins have the "Anti-Twist Knurling"? Or is it just "glossy and smooth" without this rough surface where the screw should be screwed into the pin?

A: All of the 5/8" Baby pins have the Anti-Twist Knurling.

Q: 5. If using this with a regular light stand and a large modifier, is a sandbag needed?

A: Any time you have off axis weight you should take precautions to ensure stability.

Q: 6. Is the baby pin welded on top? I want to find a stronger handheld boom than the Sunswatter "Heavy Duty" boom, over time the baby pin loosens up.

A: According to the manufacturer, the 5/8" baby pin stud on the end of the Kupo Baby Handheld Boom Arm (Aluminum) is tight fitted into the tube and fixed with crossed pins instead of a single pin. Basically, the baby pin would not loosen if you stay below the maximum payload listing of 7.94 lb (3.6 kg).

Q: 7. Can this be safely used with a regular light stand? (and a sand bag, I suppose)

A: While the Kupo Baby 5/8" Offset Arm (Chrome-plated) can be used on any 5/8" stud, it is recommended for use with C-stands and other heavy-duty stands.

Q: 8. Do the locking pins dig directly in the poles or is there a metal "brake" for better grip and less damage to the pole?

A: There is a brake between the pole and the collar to add friction and prevent damage to the pole.

Q: 9. Ok...thanks for answer about 1 1/8" offset arm..!!...Would this Kupo Baby 5/8" Offset Arm, fit more snugly on C-stand with the same sized 5/8" stud, and not need a adapter...??

A: This Kupo Baby 5/8" Offset Arm will fit snugly on a C-stand.

Q: 10. What's is the maximum weight this can hold?

A: As per Matthews, this Hollywood Junior Offset Arm would hold up to 30 lbs.

[Iron] When you need just a slight offset for the light this is a great tool. Especially for beauty dishes and parabolic modifiers 36'' and smaller.

[4.955 lb] Really strong-well made grip piece that is better than advertised. Gets that light just far enough away from the stand so you don’t have to deal with the stand. Great piece and awesome price!

[Iron] This is a well made accessory. I am using it on top of the Kupo Baby Kit Stand with Square Legs (9.5'). The fit is perfect. Works exactly as I wanted to offset whatever gear I mount on the stand a bit.

[Iron] I wanted to get my light a little further away from the C-stand so I ordered this offset arm. It's well made, sturdy and does the job. Not much else to say.

[4.955 lb] While the Setti does not fit the pin tightly, I had an adpater and the offset is exactly what I wanted for a more compact solution for my Setti.
BTW it handles up to 44lbs as confirmed by Kupo support (2 different agents provided the same info)

[Iron] I use it everytime I shoot! Wether a strobe or constant lighting, the offset is right above center of my camera giving me the light exactly where I want it. The build quality is superb and professional looking. I am absolutely happy with it and now currently looking at other products that can improve my lighting placement.
