A: It works great. It fixes my Nikon d810 with a 70-200 lens on it. It takes a little bit of time to get used to the controls but after a few sessions it works great

A: If you are mechanically minded shortening the tripod into two sections is easy. Use a 4 mm allen tool to loosen the allen screw (each section has an allen screw and thumb screw) this will allow you to remove that section from the main tube of the tripod body. An aluminum flange will drop out when the allen screw is loosened, this flange is what secures, with the tightening of the allen screw, the section to the main tube, don't lose this metal tab. The tripod broken into two pieces will fit in an average trunk. To reset the flange for reassembly is is easiest to tilt the tripod down and let gravity slide the flange back in the slot then screw the allen back in tight.
