Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there an audio recorder that allows you to record 2 MV7s at the same time via the usb chords?

A: Currently there are no devices that would accept connections from multiple Shure MV7 Podcast Microphones using their USB outputs.

Q: 2. If I use rechargeable batteries will they recharge in the unit or do I need a separate battery charger?

A: You will need to get a separate charger. Batteries cannot be recharged inside the recorder.

Q: 3. Is the USB bidirectional - e.g. can I hear other participants on ZOOM using just this device ? (I normally use an RME firewire Interface with 2 way audio and XLR mics)

A: Yes, the USB interface is bidirectional. When you set up the mic with your computer, select the MV7 as your audio input and audio output device in your computer's system preferences, and then you will be able to hear the audio with the other participants in your Zoom meeting when monitoring through the mic's headphone jack.

Q: 4. Hi. The official website of Shure says that the lower frequency of MV7 is 20hz, and here on BH product description says 50hz. What's the right information ? Thank you

A: Thank you for this valuable insight. We wil be updating our webpage shortly.

Q: 5. Is there international warranty for the MV7?

A: Yes, the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone has a two-year limited warranty from Shure.

Q: 6. is there a shock mount that will work with the MV7? and what is the best pop filter to use with it?

A: The MV7 has a built-in shock mount as well as a built-in pop filter so a separate shock mount and pop filter are not necessary. The mic's yoke mount can be attached directly to a studio arm or standard mic stand. The studio arm may provide better isolation. Like the SM7b which also has a built-in shock mount, the MV7 is not designed to be used with a separate shock mount. Although there is a built-in pop filter, i is possible to add a separate pop filter such as the Auray PFSS-55 Pop Filter with Gooseneck and Springloaded Clamp (B&H # AUPFSS55). The springloaded clamp makes it easy to attach to the mic's yoke mount or a studio arm or stand. You can find a variety of other compatible pop filters listed under the "Accessories" tab on the MV7 item page.

Q: 7. Will this still need a cloudlifter?

A: Not necessary tho recommended. Providing the subject is at good volume and the room is very quiet, THe Zoom P4 will provide enough gain (70dB). Other Mic Pre-amps do provide 80 or more dB of gain. The Cloudlifter (B&H # CLCL1) provides more the only higher gain; it also improves mic performance, by lowering noise floor and matching impedance, which may lower distortion.

Q: 8. Just bought the MV7 - is it safe/recommended to just leave it plugged in to my PC's USB and be on at all times? Or should I plug/unplug as needed? Does it matter?

A: Yes, you can leave the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone connected to your computer at all times without causing damage to the mic or computer.

Q: 9. How does this mic compare to something like the Blue Yeti Pro?

A: There is no comparison, the Yeti Pro has 3 capsules and can be used for Mono or Stereo applications, the MV7 is a podcast microphone , with a single cardioid voice coil, and the output is Mono only.

Q: 10. I need to have a 3.5 mm connection (to a camera). What cable/adapter do I need?

A: While it is possible to connect this mic to the 3.5mm input on a camera with this cable, BH #KOXRSM06B, the preamp of the camera would not do a great job of amplifying the signal and could introduction unwanted noise into the recording. We would recommend using a mixer/ recorder in between the mic and camera to give you a stronger mic preamp for a cleaner signal into the camera. Here's a recommendation, BH# TADR60DMKIIK.

[End Address] Love the sound quality and range of options available. The tactile controls in the top are really nice. I have had it for more than a year and I am very happy with my purchase.

[48 kHz] I buy these for clients who I work with remotely. So easy to get them to set it up, almost plug and play, and they sound great!

[24-Bit ] Great mic for those who want a podcast and don't want to deal with an audio mixer to make things sound good. The hybrid option to go XLR or USB gives you the option to use a mixer, if you wish, so you're not really losing anything. The include Motiv software more than makes up for any EQ situations you might run into sans mixer. White some may like the switch settings and yoke-mounted XLR plug on the SM-7B, you will find these abilities tucked away in the Motiv software to program the mic via USB, so you really don't lose out on much of anything. It's even a more compact design than the SM-7B, allowing a better fit for those with smaller studio space. The sound quality is nearly identical, but you'll find the MV-7 having a slightly different element. Otherwise, it's a solid performer. What you lack in switches you'll make up for on the LED ring surrounding the mic head. That built in VU meter really makes things nice.

[Bus Power] This is dynamite in a small package. I like having the flexibility to use the MV7 via USB or XLR. If you're just getting into podcasting or voiceovers, this is a great mic to start with. I did add a pop screen for mine, just to help a bit. I throw the audio into Audition, make a few adjustments, and it sounds great. Would highly recommend.

[2.38 lb] I had been looking at updating my mic setup for working from home for a while, so I can sound more professionally produced while leading meetings. I'm blown away by how amazing this sounds for a USB microphone. Out of the box it sounds fantastic, but you can also tweak more with the app, including fully customizing the LED strip which is fun for personalization. It's also functional, showing the sound level its picking up and acts as a one-touch mute button.

Visually, the boom arm and overall design of the mic are gorgeous on my desk and look professional, without being overbearing like some higher-end setups can be.

The tradeoff between simplicity and quality really can't be beat here.
