Q: 1. Can this hold a Aston Halo? Do I need a thread adapter of some kind?

A: No adapter is needed.

Q: 2. do you sell carrying case for this stand?

A: Yes. The Auray RFMS-580 tripod stand will fit in most cases designed for microphone or speaker stands such as the Gator Cases GPA-50 (B&H # GASSB) or Auray SB-52SSB Speaker Stand Bag (B&H # AUSB52SSB), which are both soft carrying bags.

Q: 3. How long are the tripod legs on this stand?

Q: 4. How heavy is the filter without the stand?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide this information. However, the mic stand alone has a listed weight of 1.8 lbs. The total weight of this package is 2.75 lbs. The filter should then weigh .95 lbs.

A: Yes that would work.

Q: 7. What is the spread of the legs when fully open compared to to a run-of-the-mill mic stand?

[Desktop Stand] The Auray MSGN-17 is the perfect stand to use either as a desktop or even as a way to capture the audio from church readers at a wedding for wedding cinematography, which i’m going to use it for it as well. Its gooseneck blends in just like the ones that they use in church podiums, plus, if i need extra height, this stand allows. I got the 18” version for that reason I just described above.

This stand is also great for capturing audio from dance recitals, you know, the foot tapping noise from the dancers which can be placed right on stage at its lowest setting when needed.

I also have pictures with this review if you want to take a look. Requires full Desktop browser.

The bottom base is nice and heavy and will not scratch your expensive furniture as it has a soft padding at the bottom. It also prevents unwanted vibrations transmitted to the mic, especially on Stage.

The mic holder also comes with a 3/8” adapter if you don’t need to use the standard 5/8 traditional mic stand thread. The stand itself without the mic holder is a 3/8” thread, which allows you to screw in anything you want, not just a mic. Anything that accepts a 3/8” thread.

The entire stand is made of metal except the mic holder, which is expected to be made of plastic for flexing and fitting various types of mics.

Pretty happy with this stand.

[None] The Auray MSGN-6 Desktop Gooseneck Mic Stand is great for desktop use, or any other flat, stable surface of any finish. It also has a die cast heavy base and features padding under so it won’t scratch your furniture.

Upon unboxing and setting it up for the first time (most people don’t know) the gooseneck piece, as you try to bent it for the first time, especially the super short ones, this one being just 6”, you will hear a cracking noise as you bend it. It’s almost like a chiropractor adjusting your spine...This is normal and only happens ONCE. After that, you can adjust it to any position and silently.

The gooseneck top accepts anything 3/8” you might want to install. Can be any other mic holder you like, other than the included mic holder to accommodate a variety of mics, wide and narrow such as USB mics, any mic, including short shot gun mics, or even a digital recorder or whatever else that is no heavier than a standard mic that has a 3/8 thread or mount.

Another great thing about it, when you screw in the gooseneck piece and the mic holder that comes with it, it stops threading exactly where it should. Perfectly aligned and straight, not slightly off sideways, ready for the mic.

What else could I say? It’s an all metal piece, holds your mic well, its flexible, adjustable and doesn’t take a lot of space on your desk.
Pretty nice stand!

[1] I think this mic stand is fantastic because it doesn't take up much space and the base is heavy enough that you don't have to worry about it falling over.

Also, if you need to travel with it, it easily comes apart as shown in the picture.

At the time of writing this review, this cost $16. That's a great value for what it is!

As seen in my photo I've attached a rode video mic pro.

[1] This desktop mic stand is great. Here's why...

1. Very affordable
2. Well built and robust
3. The weight assures stability for desktops
4. Matte black, textured base
5. Telescoping adds a bit of height if needed

I think the best feature of this mic stand is it's size. It won't take up too much space on my desktop so I can leave it on my desk year round.

[1] This desktop mic stand is well built. I can tell that it will last for a lifetime.

It's heavy and that's a good thing because it means that for just about any microphone setup, this stand will hold it in place.

On top of it being a mic stand I've also found great use of it (with an adaptor) as a light stand for hard to reach places.

I think that this device is a no brainer given its excellent build and low price point.

[Mic Clip] Received promptly. Works very well for me. Avoids all the
discomfort of the usual mic stands. Solid and easy to handle.

[Black] This mic stand from Auray is an instant purchase for travelers. The build quality is better than I expected for the price point. Its lightweight enough to bring along to just about any gig and telescopes down to a really small footprint. Although this isnt the stand that youll use as the primary fixture in your permanent studio (youll probably want something weighted), having this in the toolbox will let you handle overflow and mic additional vocalists on the fly. When it comes to pick-up-and-go, this is absolutely perfect for being nimble.

[1.8 lb] A compact, stable stand that fits in a backpack and does the job. The materials are robust with minimal plastic, giving the stand a confident weight. I have owned many nano stands, and this one is the best by far. It is limited in height, but so long as you are not using a boom and do not need to go too high, it is a must-have for the traveling audio engineer.

[None] This works well for me to hold an XY pair of mics for concert recording and takes up very little room in the bag I'm using to transport it!
