Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do their lenses have electronic contacts for EXIF information (Fujifilm X-mount)?

A: The Thypoch Simera 28mm f/1.4 Lens does not have electronic contacts, so it will not provide any EXIF data.

Q: 2. Does the tilt function affect image quality in any way?

A: The tilt function of the AstrHori 50mm f/1.4 Tilt Lens (Leica L, Black) doesn't affect image quality in any way.

Q: 3. is it a new design or the old one adapted to G mount?

A: The Mitakon Zhongyi Creator 28mm f/5.6 Lens (FUJIFILM G) is a new lens, but it was not specifically designed for the medium format sensor. It has the same optical elements and specifications as the Mitakon Zhongyi Creator 28mm f/5.6 Lens (Canon RF) for instance so only the lens mount is different.

Q: 4. Does this work with a GH5

A: Yes, the AstrHori 18mm f/8 Macro Probe Lens (Micro Four Thirds) is compatible with the Panasonic Lumix GH5 Mirrorless Camera (BH #PADCGH5ACCK).

Q: 5. Is the lens mount user-swappable?

A: Yes, the AstrHori 18mm f/8 Macro Probe Lens (Canon RF) can be put on or removed just like any other Canon RF lens.

Q: 6. Will I need an adapter to use this with the fujifilm gfx 100s ii medium format mirrorless camera?

A: No. The AstrHori 40mm f/5.6 Lens (FUJIFILM G) is designed for the Fujifilm G-mount lens mount. As the FUJIFILM GFX 100S II Medium Format Mirrorless Camera uses the Fujifilm G-mount lens mount, the AstrHori 40mm f/5.6 Lens (FUJIFILM G) will connect directly to the FUJIFILM GFX 100S II Medium Format Mirrorless Camera without the need of a lens mount adapter.

Q: 7. Why don't you list this as a Lumix S lens?

A: The Panasonic 14-28mm Macro is a LUMIX S lens. We will correct it here. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Q: 8. Does the Thypoch Simera 28mm f/1.4 for Nikon Z support the manual focus assist features one the ZF?

A: Since the Thypoch Simera 28mm f/1.4 for Nikon Z lacks communication pins, it does not support all manual focus assist features. The lens will still support things like Focus Peaking, but will not support focus confirmation.

Q: 9. I have the Lumix 18mm and 35mm f1.8 Primes. Would I be happing replacing them with this? Low light etc.

A: You may be happy with the the zoom range on the Panasonic Lumix 14-28mm f/4-5.6 MACRO Lens (Leica L), but you will not see any improvement in low light performance at all. Currently, there are no L mount zoom lenses with a f/1.8 max aperture capability.

Q: 10. Will this work on a GH5?

A: Yes, the AstrHori 18mm f/8 Macro Probe Lens (Micro Four Thirds) will work on the Panasonic Lumix GH5.

[2x] I didn't buy this lens for its quality optics or its sexy looks, I bought it for a creative project I'm shooting in black-and-white square format. The 1:1 crop factor moots any minor issues with edge sharpness and vignetting. The pancake design makes it easy to carry around and unobtrusive in public places. Manual focus is required, but practically everything is in focus when set to infinity. I'm using it paired with my Fujifilm X-T5 and the results are stunning. The absurdity of putting a $90 lens on a $1,700 camera and making art is very satisfying, indeed!

[f/13] This lens performs way above its price

[f/13] Excellent performance in a tiny, lightweight, comparatively affordable package. 14mm with 77mm filter threads, and no vignette at 14mm even with a CPL - Impressive! One of the best ultrawide zoom lenses I have ever used. This includes: Nikon 14-24 G, Nikon Z 14-30, Tamron 15-30, Sigma 12-24 Art, Sigma 14-24 DN, and Lumix 16-35. Sharp details across the frame at all focal lengths, rich color and contrast, and almost no noticeable CA. This lens does not rely on software corrections to cover the FF sensor at 14mm like some other modern 14-__ ultrawide zooms. If you open the files without lens corrections, you will see the image circle extents well past the image frame, perhaps 13mm. If I am being picky, my only gripe is that the sunstar is nothing special.

[7] I love the Lumix 18mm f1.8 prime. However this lens offers great utility indoors, shooting landscapes, and especially in urban scenes. There is a tradeoff for the zoom range in low-light situations, but I can always grab a prime for this which as a practical matter is more of an edge case for me. The image quality is equal to the Lumix primes, which are all highly regarded. And, it’s small and light.

[f/13] It's small, features a hot shoe mount, and testing it against 3 other light meters I trust it very well calibrated out of the box. BTW charging time with a 2 amp wall wart via USB-C is about 40 minutes. However you will want to put on some readers and actually read the instruction manual because the controls are not intuitive.

[3.85 lb] It works well with my Nikon D500 and Sony a6300 (with an adapter). It has focus confirmation on D500, which is helpful. With focus peaking, it is very easy to use the lens with a6300. The lens is not only good for macro photography but also suitable for portrait shooting as well.

[2x] Works very well for getting into tight spaces. The lens is fairly sharp - not the sharpest, but offers good value in terms of probe lenses.

F40 requires a ton of light. You'll also want a motorized rig of sorts for any movement as the macro lens is very sensitive to small bumps.

All in all - good value compared to the Laowa. Only down side is it an APS-C lens, so you'll get some crop when on a full frame lens.

[3.85 lb] Sharp, very little vignetting, simple to use, and Fun! Set camera to shoot without lens & Aperture Priority. Focus (use visual focus aid if you want), use auto ISO or manual ISO. I use the AstrHori 27mm f2.8 on a Fuji X-A1. I view the pictures via HDMI on a large screen TV.
Use the above settings, and you can easily concentrate on the Subject & the Composition. Set aspect to 3:1, or to 1:1 for Fun!

[f/13] Very sharp, feels just right in your hands, not cheaply constructed. Great value, just like other rokinon/samyang products
