The auto cover is kind of gimmicky anyway. Many who have it say it still lets in some dust and debris though the slits. I've had multiple cameras for forty years and never lost a removable cap. If that's a concern, buy an extra one. I don't use those retaining strings either. Invariably, it will dangle in front of the lens on that once in a lifetime shot! As for the filter, no complaints whatsoever. Like all the German filters I've used, they're worth every penny. It fits my LX-100 and there are no problems using it with the standard cap when powering off. However, I always power off first, then put the cap on, which you can't do with the auto cap, because that defeats its purpose.
