The 95mm, 1/2-grade Tilta Illusion Digital Diffusion Filter 95mm 1/2is a nano-coated diffusion filter designed for the circular 95mm standard of the Tilta Mirage matte box. By reducing contrast and mitigating the ultra-sharpness associated with modern digital cameras, this filter helps create a film-like visual atmosphere with flattering skin tones and limited blooming of highlights. It's ideal for users who want to take the digital edge off of overly sharp images from modern cameras. The filter is made with premium water white glass processed and is crafted to prevent reflections and provide accurate color rendition.

Q: 1. Can I pair this ND filter with the DZO Arles prime lenses?

A: We do not see any issues using the Tilta 95mm Circular Polarizer for Mirage Matte Box with the a DZOFilm Arles Cine Lens.

Q: 2. Is it possible to configure this matte box to be use with only 2 filter stages?

A: Sorry, but we do not see any way to reconfigure this matte box to two filters stages.

Q: 3. Assuming the use of both a variable nd along with an effects filter like one of the pure mist grades, can the variable ND still be adjusted electronically? What additional accessories would be needed if any, in addition to the tilta mirage motorized vnd kit?

A: The Tilta Mirage with VND kit is a modular system. You can add filters on as needed and maintain the ability to adjust the VND with remote control.

Q: 4. What is the widest focal length (in full frame) without vignetting?

A: The Tilta 95mm Circular Polarizer for Mirage Matte Box can support 24mm without vignetting on full frame.

Q: 5. What would be a good protective filter pouch to house 3-4 filter trays with filters?

A: Consider the NiSi Caddy for S5 Filter Holder and Seven 150 x 150mm or 150 x 170mm Filters for the Tilta Dual Circular Filter Tray for Mirage Matte Box (95mm). See the link below: https://bhpho.to/2Svo68V

Q: 6. How can I insert VND and promist & IR, do I need another tray slot?

A: Yes, consider adding the Tilta Stackable Circle Filter Tray for Mirage Matte Box (95mm) to work with the additional Tilta Dual Circular Filter Tray for Mirage Matte Box (95mm) in the Tilta Mirage Matte Box or going for a 4 x 5.65" stackable filter holder and trays for the Promist and IR filters. Q: 9. Can this be used with the variable ND module?

A: No, you cannot use the Tilta 95mm Circular Polarizer for Mirage Matte Box and the Tilta 95mm Variable ND Filter for Mirage Matte Box at the same time as the Tilta Mirage Matte Box can only hold one at a time.

Q: 10. I'm looking for a matte box to use on a Sony 200-600mm lens. Will this matte box work? I want to run a VND. Thanks!

A: Yes, the Tilta 3-Stage 4 x 5.65" Carbon Fiber Clip-On Matte Box (110mm Back) could work if you have 15mm rod mounts. However, you may want to consider the Tilta Mirage VND Matte-Box that would screw into the filter threads of your lens model. The Mirage comes with ring sizes up to 82mm. [0.2 lb] This is a must-have accessory for the Tilta Mirage matte box system. Build quality is typical Tilta quality, which is great. The Mirage system design is small and light, which is perfect for smaller camera rigs and gimbal use.

I'm very pleased to see that this will accommodate TWO 95mm Vaxis circular filters in a single holder. I thought the stackable filter holder tray would be required to do this, but...no.

A BIG advantage with this dual filter holder is that it will avoid the vignetting that occurs with lenses wider than 35mm when using the stackable filter tray holder. I just tested this dual filter holder with a 24mm lens, and don't have any vignetting. The 24mm is the widest FF lens I have, so I can't confirm if there is an issue with wider lenses.

[Glass] I got this to reduce the jaggies in video on my 6d. It does not totally eliminate them, but it definitely improves them. I haven't yet used this for portraits, but that's in the cards. when I started using this, I got the general veiling that you expect from one of the mist filters. I was disappointed. However, then I cleaned the filter thoroughly. Much much better. I think this is going to work out nicely. I bought another one for a different lens. When I pulled it from the package, it was pretty dirty, too. So my advice is to thoroughly clean your filters. You'll be amazed.

[Glass] I love these filters, and I have the FX2 on all of my lenses for wedding videography. I like how it softens faces and reduces fine textures without adding any halation or losing contrast. My only gripe would be the artifacts in the filter are pretty noticeable in the bokeh or when the lens flares, but that's easy enough to work around.

[Glass] Not much to say, it's just do what it should.

[0.2 lb] So I love this dual tray. It's actually much more secure and secure than I anticipated. But this piece is just one piece to a potentially expensive puzzle. If your like me, you probably bought this intending this to solve the issue of wanting to hold multiple filter. Which is not an issue, but your really going to want the stackable tray holder to go along with this. The very delicate Vaxis filters need to live in their own filter trays without being taken out during a shoot day. So you will want the ability to "hot swap" them quickly. At least this dual tray allows you to keep two filters together that will likely live together like a pure mist and polarizer while you swap out the IRNDs depending on the ND strength you need. Still glad I bought this but it didn't solve my immediate problem with "swapping quickly" during a fast pace shoot day. What shoot day isn't fast paced???

[0.2 lb] I'm very happy with the Tilta Mirage matte box, largely due to the affordable filter options from Vaxis. The IRND filters are more neutral than the variable ND option, and also reduce IR pollution (red tone in shadows). At the affordable prices they are, there is little reason not to own a few IRND filters.

[0.2 lb] I bought it for video to have smoother images but I discovered that I also like it very much for portrait photography to smooth skin without having the dreamy halo effect. To my taste, the effect is very subttle, though...

[Glass] I originally bout the variable ND filter for my Tilta Mirage matte box. As with all variable NDs I've tried, there was some noticeble IR pollution (shadows and dark neutrals take on a red cast). I have since invested in 3 of the Vaxis IRND filters, and I'm very happy with the results. I also have 2 strengths of the Vaxis Black Mist filters.

These filters are affordable, light weight and obviously a perfect fit for the Mirage matte box. I hope Vaxis continues to make these available in the event that I ever loose or break any of them.

[0.2 lb] I have used this several times on an FX3 with Sony GM 24 & 35 primes. I have not had an issues stacking two Vaxis NDs in the dual circular tray and a mist or pola in this tray. The 24 & 35mm lenses are a 67 filter diameter. I never tried the 24-70 zoom, where vignetting complaints seem to come from, but that lens is a larger 82mm filter spec.

I wouldn't suggest putting the Tilta Mirage on a lens with an external zoom or focus. I tried it on vintage contax zeiss and the focus ring turns hard and likely would damage with repeated use. I suggest trying in store if you can, but for smaller diameter prime lenses with an internal focus ring this tray is the perfect add to the Tilta Mirage mattebox.
