Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a way to use this adapter with lens on a Nikon D3100? I get “no lens attached” warning and don’t see in the menu how to bypass that.

A: If you can't take a photo in manual mode, you can go in the camera settings and select "shoot without lens" but not all cameras have that option and if neither option works, then your out of luck.

Q: 2. How do I connect this to a 1.25mm barrel?

A: It depends on the 1.25 eyepiece for a telescope. But most use a T mount and that is what the Vivitar T-Mount to Nikon Z-Mount Adapter has on one end. And the other size is for a Nikon Z mount camera.

Q: 3. Does the adapter lock onto the camera's f mount so that you need to push the lens release button to take it off, or is it just there to come off if you twist the lens against it?

A: It locks and you'll need to use the release button to take it off

Q: 4. Will this work on Nikon z6ii with a AF VR-Nikkor 80-400mm to allow autofocus to work?

A: The Nikon AF VR Zoom-NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED Lens will not autofocus on the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with the Viltrox Nikon F-Mount Lens to Z-Mount Camera Adapter. This is because the lens does not have a built-in focus motor. However, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR Lens will autofocus with the adapter.

Q: 5. Hey, can I use this adapter with this telescope? SkyWatcher Virtuoso 90/1250 Maksutov-Cassegrain

A: Yes, the Vivitar T-Mount to Nikon F-Mount Adapter, B&H # VIHFT2NIK, should be compatible for use with the Sky-Watcher Virtuoso 90mm f/13.9 Maksutov-Cassegrain Multi-Purpose Motorized Mount.

Q: 6. Is this adapter compatible with Zeiss Milvus ZF.2 lenses, in order to control aperture from the lens? Zeiss Milvus lenses follow the Nikon AI-P standard.

A: This adapter only works with Nikon F mount lenses which allow control of the aperture from the lens only, since there are no electronic contacts in it. With the Milvus series lenses from Zeiss, the aperture can be controlled electronically upon locking down the aperture to the smallest setting. To have electronic aperture control on a Nikon Z body, the Nikon FTZ adapter, B&H # NIFTZ would be better to use. https://bhpho.to/2JEF3bQ

Q: 7. will this fit on the Z9?

A: With a firmware update, the Nikon Z9 will be compatible with the Viltrox Nikon F Mount Lens to Nikon Z Mount Camera Adapter.

Q: 8. Does it supports AF-S lenses? Like the DX NIKKOR 35mm 1.8

A: Yes, the Viltrox Nikon F-Mount Lens to Z-Mount Camera Adapter accommodates the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G ED Lens.

Q: 9. Will this fit a Z6ii with a battery grip?

A: Yes, the Viltrox Nikon F-Mount Lens to Z-Mount Camera Adapter can fit onto the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with a battery grip.

Q: 10. What advantages does this offer over Nikon's own FTZ adapter(s)? Thanks.

A: What the Viltrox Nikon F-Mount Lens to Z-Mount Camera Adapter offers over the FTZ II is the USB-C port for firmware updates. Otherwise, it would offer the same basic function of adapting F mount lenses to a Nikon Z mount body.

[Metal] Have not used this for overhead shots, just as a mini background. The various height adjustments are definitely a plus.

[Nikon Z] I'm glad this item met my expectations. The case is also very nice. I included the pic of the door which was 30 ft away from the 80 watt RGB light. Focus works very well. The built-in light cutters will also be handy for shaping light when I use strobes for product and food photography.

[0.515 lb] This camera rig was very stable. I used it in the lower few settings and the only sturdiness issues I had were with the desk it was placed on.

[Nikon Z] Saw a video on YouTube about how this adapter along with a low cost Sony E to M42 adapter would allow use of old M42 lenses on a Nikon Zf body WITH focus confirmation. I did not believe it would work but it does.
You get Left and Right arrows and a circle to indicate focus (lower left corner of the screen pics) as well as the red focus box turns green when focus is achieved. It's nutty. I have been using the Zf with old lenses and red focus highlighting along with center button zoom to see how in focus it is. This is much faster and is spot on. If you focus and then check by zooming in, there is no little nudge it needs to make it sharper. This is such a game changer for the Zf and use of vintage lenses. In order to use M39 or some other mount lens I would just need to get another Sony E to M39 (or etc) adapter.

[0.515 lb] Got this for my Godox flash because the cold shoe mount flash bracket I had was unreliable garbage. This holds my flash perfectly and feels solidly built.

[0.515 lb] I recently videoed a very large convention over a three-day period with nearly non-stop meetings that took place on multiple floors of a very large hotel. This dolly was indispensable because I could just wheel the camera, tripod, all needed accessories including a power strip attached to the leg of the tripod to each new meeting location, into and out of the elevators and over carpeted and tiled floors and threshold strips. In addition to the ruggedness of the dolly, the three-inch diameter wheels were the best feature as the larger wheels roll over irregularities in the floor much easier than smaller wheels.

Honestly, I bought this just before leaving for the convention not knowing how useful it would be but I seriously don't think I could have gotten through the convention without it as it was an intense, non-stop event for which I could not have lugged all of my gear over a three-day period. Excellent product!

[Nikon Z] I needed a few cold shoe mounts to attach Speedlights to light stands. These are made from anodized aluminum, are small and very sturdy.
I didn't need as many that came in the package, but can one ever have too many shoe adapters?
