Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this metal or plastic?

A: This hood is plastic.

Q: 2. How does the lens hood go onto the lens? I cannot get it to fit at all.

A: You need to remove the ring that is around the front of the lens. Just unscrew it and remove it and the hood will fit just fine.

Q: 3. Is it compatible with BMPCC 4K?

A: Yes.

Q: 4. I have a 37mm filter on mine. How does the thumbscrew work? And why does it say 46mm screw in hood if the lens only accepts a 37mm filter????Thanks

A: The hood attaches around the filter. The thumb screw pushes a semicircle band inside the diameter of the hood applying even pressure to hold it on. Its basically a clamp.

Q: 5. Is this lens hood usable for the Zuiko M4/3 14-42mm II zoom kit lens also?

A: Unfortunately, no, it is not. The Olympus LH-40B Lens Hood is only available for the for M.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 Lens; it is not compatible with the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II R Lens. You would need to purchase the Olympus - LH-40 Lens Hood for use with the Olympus M.Zuiko 14-42mm Lens (B&H# OLLH40).

Q: 6. What I'm really looking for is a lens hood for the Olympus 17mm f2.8 lens, not the the f1.8. Does anyone know if there is one for that lens? Thanks

A: B&H has several 37mm screw-in lens hoods... the Heliopan 71037H would surely work, but I think I'd try the General Brand 37mm Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood first. 17mm field of view isn't all THAT wide, and the rubber hoods collapse if they cause vignetting, but will still provide some protection from off-axis light.

Q: 7. How does this compare to Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 which is a little cheaper?

A: Both are good quality lenses but the Panasonic is a sharper lens with better color and contrast.

Q: 8. How does this mount? I just got lens and hood, and I see no way to attach the lens hood. I have other hoods so not unfamiliar.

A: The Olympus LH-40B Lens Hood for M.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 Lens is a dedicated hood and is made specific for the M.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 Lens. And is a type of bayonet connection.

Q: 9. I have the M.Zuiko 25mm f1.8 and the lens says it is a 46. The spec sheet also says it is a 46. Is this for and older 25? Mine was made 2013.

A: Olympus only has one (1) Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens (Black),B&H # OL2518MB. The above lens does have 46mm front filter threads. The Olympus LH-49B Hood for M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens (Black), B&H # OLLH49BB, is the original replacement lens hood designed for use with and included with the purchase of the aforementioned Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens.

Q: 10. Is the Zuiko 25mm f1.8 premium lens compatible with the e510 camera?

A: Micheal, the E510 has a Four-Thirds lens mount and cannot mount micro-Four-Thirds lenses, like the M.Zuiko Digital lens range. The M.Zuiko 25mm f1.8 lens is meant for mirrorless Olympus or Panasonic cameras with a micro-four-thirds mount.

[0.1 lb] This lens hood comes with no instructions which may sound strange since you may never have had to use instructions to mount your lens hood on your lens before. However, it is made with a little locking mechanism that clicks into place when the lens hood is mounted on your lens. You must press a little button on the side to release the locking mechanism to take it off. There are no instructions provided for this. If you try to take it off without pressing the button you will surely damage it.

The first one I received locked properly with the hood mounted for storage, but in the usage position it did not lock and would easily fall off the lens. Either the little locking tooth that is used in the usage position was slightly out of place or broken and I received an item that had been returned by a previous purchaser who broke it

Its expensive because of this clever but delicate technology, so be sure to use the push button to remove the hood when you want to dismount it in either position - storage or usage potions.

[0.1 lb] This is one of my few bayonet petal hoods. Most of my hoods are much older and made of metal, so I was curious about these more modern hoods. I'm quite impressed by this hood. At first glance, it looks like it's just plastic, but if you look more closely in the light, you can see that it's made of a composite material and there are fibers in the material. It's not only strong and stiff, but when you pick it up, it feels surprisingly light (similar to a carbon tripod) and feels solid. It also has a really nice texture to it that feels nice in the hand. There are small arrows silk-screened on the body so you know where to put the hood on and in what direction to turn it to lock and unlock it. It attaches in both the regular and reversed directions with a firm and positive click and there is an unlock button to unlock it. It locks on both in the regular and reversed positions. It's definitely a hood that feels at home on the Pro lens it is meant for and one of the nicest hoods I've ever seen.

[4.2 x 3.4 x 1"] very well made ,fits 25mm lens and works well with it , bought by accident not realizing the 25mm lense comes with a hood

[4.2 x 3.4 x 1"] Works as designed. Why it's not included with the lens is beyond me. Word of caution if you are using on a drone, don't buy it because you need a vented hood to allow for airflow.

[4.2 x 3.4 x 1"] I got this for a Zuiko 25 1.8 lens that I bought used and came without its hood. It is a plastic hood that snaps securely into place on its dedicated bayonet on the outside of the lens barrel. It does what it is supposed to. I use the lens and hood on a Panasonic GM5 camera, which is tiny. Both the lens and hood protrude below the bottom of the camera.

[4.2 x 3.4 x 1"] Walking around with a hood prevents light damage to your lens from bumps, and keeps the flare down on your pictures. I always have one on my lenses.

[4.2 x 3.4 x 1"] I always get the lens shade (I wish it would come with it). It provides protection from accidental bumps, and it helps reduce flare in your pictures. It is cheap insurance IMO.
