The Hestia can be used for terrestrial observation during the day. At night, the Hestia can show you lunar craters, the rings of Saturn, and the brightest deep sky objects, such as galaxies, clusters, and nebulae. The Hestia's lenses and prisms provide 25x magnification and a 1.8° field of view through a 30mm aperture. It comes with a tripod and a hard case.

Q: 1. Do you need to mount this on a special tripod?

A: The Celestron StarSense Explorer 8" Smartphone App-Enabled Dobsonian Telescope comes with a Dobsonian Base from Celestron, and it is a sturdy foundation for the StarSense Explorer 8" optical tube assembly. The Dobsonian base is not supposed to be mounted on a tripod.

Q: 2. What is the measurement between the back and the lip that retains the phone? In other words, how think can the phone me, for example if it is in a case.

A: Smartphone Tripod Mounts are usually meant to Grip the Phone itself. If you are using a Thin Case then it should support both phone and case. Unfortunately these will not grip to a Thicker Case like an Otterbox.

Q: 3. Can this telescope be used for Astro photography?

A: Yes the Celestron StarSense Explorer 8" Smartphone App-Enabled Dobsonian Telescope can be used for astrophotography.

Q: 4. how wide it the tab? will it work with the Samsung S10?

A: The TetheR-Tab is approximately 1" x 2.5". It will work with the S10. It is designed to be used with a case.

Q: 5. Does the mount leave the entire screen side unobstructed? If you're doing manual stuff with Filmic Pro or really anything but full auto, it would be a huge problem if those straps or whatever were in the way.

A: Only if you want the screen facing that way making it obstructed. Face the lens towards the mount.

Q: 6. Will this also work as a backup safety tether for cameras mounted on the black rapid dual harness?

A: No, the BlackRapid TetheR-Nylon Smartphone Safety Tether System (Black) BH #BL275003 is designed for smaller items like smartphones.

Q: 7. Does this handle iphone7 plus?

A: Works great with my iphone 7 plus, holds the device securely.

Q: 8. If photos can be taken does that mean that videos can also be taken?

A: It is possible to manually shoot a video with the Hestia telescope using your phone's camera. We do not guarantee the quality of your video while using Hestia. Please note that, at this time, it is not possible to shoot a video with Hestia through the Gravity app.

Q: 9. Does this filter fit Stellina?

A: The Vaonis Solar Filter for Vespera lets you use the Vaonis Vespera Digital Telescope to observe our closest star during the day. Mount the filter on the end of the optical arm to see and photograph sunspots.

Q: 10. Will this system work with an Otterbox Defender case that has a flip cover over the charging port?

A: The BlackRapid WandeR Deluxe Smartphone Safety Tether System BH #BL275007 would not work if the charge port is covered.

[Gray] An 8" Dobsonian AND Celestron StarSense!! This deserves more than 5 stars, you really can't ask for anything better than this. As a beginner, the Starsense app makes quick, easy work of navigating the night sky. I feel like it would've taken me years to learn the sky and how to read star maps in order to see what I've seen with this scope/starsense combo, all in a matter of just a few nights. Not only is a dobsonian scope so highly desirable for their exceptional performance and low price, but with the addition of the starsense app, you get literal point and shoot directions. PLUS the app tells you a variety of information about every target, so you get to learn along the way which is really cool. With this 8" scope I can CLEARLY see the entire Andromeda galaxy and the other 2 galaxies above and below it. I would have NO idea where to look without the starsense. And for planetary viewing, the image sharpness is 2nd to none. Saturn & Jupiter are just jaw dropping to look at. The focuser is really nice to use and doesn't shake the entire scope when you adjust it like some cheaper tripod mounted scopes. There are carry handles on the optical tube and the base platform which make moving it extremely easy. Each piece only weighs about 20lbs individually so it's no big deal to move at all. I believe everyone should have a Dobsonian scope in their arsenal, and now that Celestron has released one with their starsense technology, this should be a no brainer go to scope for all. The scope comes with a 25mm plossl eye piece which is decent but has a narrow FOV. I also have a 15mm, 10mm, & 5mm (all by Celestron) with better FOV that really help make things pop. And Yes there are mixed reviews about Starsense, I have nothing bad to say about it. But there is literally no other technology like it, and to me, it's a game changer having that convenience and knowledge at your fingertips. Very much well worth it. 5

[Gray] Versatile and portable. Add a camera tripod to make it even more versatile. Unless you use a camera with a telescope the only celestial object you can see with any great detail is the moon--so this is sufficient for the moon and some detail on planets--also excellent for land use. 5
