[0.21 lb] I bought this because the tie down for my Cartoni Focus HD head was too wide to use with the Manfrotto 645 Fast legs. The knobs on the Cartoni tie-down are 71mm across at their widest point, which prevents these tripod legs from closing all the way.

The widest point on this tie-down is 45mm, and it works perfectly with the Manfrotto legs and holds the 100mm ball head tightly with no play, even though it is listed as a 75mm tie down.

The female thread receiver is 10mm, and it's deep so even if you have a really long screw on the bottom of your head, it should still accept it.

[0.21 lb] I had an older Cartoni that had been reliable for years. When that head broke beyond repair, this was an easy choice for replacement. Super smooth movement, and incredibly stable with my heaviest rigs, this is exactly the upgrade I was looking for.

[0.21 lb] I regularly get to work with a variety of tripods from industry standards to the random owner/operator surprises. One that always stood out was a Cartoni that, despite clearly being put through its paces, still worked great. That one was built like a tank but still a breeze to do minor repairs on.

After working with other sticks (such as the flow techs), I actually find that I prefer the design of these. The sticks are very light and quick to use. I can already see how they might be easier to work on than some of the more expensive options. I tend to find that tripod spreaders are nightmares to work with, but this spreader has a fantastic design that's as simple as a button press (no more wrenching down that one pesky spreader that just won't stop slipping).

I do think I prefer the euro style plate, but this side-load sliding plate is still great. All around, it's difficult to beat the size, weight, and price while still delivering a fantastic product.

[0.21 lb] A great tripod is one of the best investments you'll make and it's hard to beat the smoothness and versatility of a Cartoni. I can go from a minimal and lightweight camera package to a full cinema studio camera and this tripod will handle it with ease.

The weight is good, operationally solid, with nice, simple added features like backlit level, quick-closing strap thing.
Two things - one, the manual is lacking especially regarding spreader operation. Two, the spreader mechanisms feel like they might not stand up to work over time. But 5 year warranty.
Easy to compare to (Vitec) Sachtler and come out on top.
Flow tech is on everyone's list but it's 3-4x the cost.
And, being a little sentiment, I prefer family run cartoni over conglomerate Vitec (sachtler)
