I do a lots of photoshoots on the beach year around. The problem withlight modifiers is that they can fly all over the place on a windy day. The magnumperform reliably inharsh environments and the light is beautiful

I have been wanting to purchase this magnum reflector for quite some time and was happy to see that B&H finally carried some in stock. Since purchasing I have already used it on several shoots with much success. This modifier is perfect for enhancing that crisp lighting needed for hard light photography or for when you want to emulate the light of the sun.

I know reflectors, I have the best reflectors. Let me tell you , this is one of the best reflectors I have ever used. Very classy. Profoto is a great company, I love profoto. The specular highlights out of this reflector, you wouldn't believe the way it looks, I'm telling you. Tremendous. You can throw light for miles, its unbelievable. Incredible, really. Other reflectors in this country are not nearly as tough and we need to be tougher on shadows, believe me. This ones amazing. It's a huge reflector and light is terrific. When I see a beautiful reflector I just start shooting with it, I don't even wait. We're gonna make reflectors great again.

Profoto Magnum reflector is work of art.It is my go to modifier when I'm working with pets.

If you have purchased any of the Profoto strobes that can accept this reflector, you should to purchase this reflector in order to get the maximum power from your strobe.  In fact, if you look at the guide numbers for these strobes, you will notice that they are all given with the Magnum Reflector (or OCF version) attached.  In my own testing with B1, B2 and B10 strobes, the Magnum Reflector increases the power of the bare strobes as measured by a Sekonic L-858D meter by 1.7-1.9 times (Fstops).

As is typical of Sachtlers stuff, this is well built and does the job. I wouldnt normally even bother to review this, but wanted to add a note for anyone considering using this with a Gitzo systematic tripod with 100mm half bowl adapter: I found that it would not grip the screw from my Sachtler DV 12 SB when mounted on my Gitzo GT3543XLS with the GD3322V100 (series 2-3-4) 100mm adapter. Its no fault of this flowtech tie-down-- it was not designed for it.
The tie-down that DOES work for this set-up is the 75mm tie-down from my Sachtler DV 6 SB. Havent tried other tie-downs, such as the older Sachtler 100mm, but will report back if I do.

I have to confess. This is my second Magnum since I crunched my previous one on a windy day on very hard rocks. Yes, it was sandbagged too. I had to get a replacement because there's nothing like it to help light up bright sunny day, high speed photos with my B1 and B2 lights. I'm going to keep this one inside more now since I've also ordered the newly announced OCF Magnum, which should be easier to transport and pack for location shooting. the extra light that these reflectors provide (plus 1-2 f-stops) is great for edgier portraits in daylight shoots.

I bought a used Flowtech. The tie down was not included. I tried to use the tie down from my 100mm Sachtler head but it was too wide for the Flowtech legs to close completely. This tie down is narrower and allows legs to close all the way. Kind of a bummer to have to purchase a specific tie down but it works. The Flowtech is really great.

I bought this because the tie down for my Cartoni Focus HD head was too wide to use with the Manfrotto 645 Fast legs. The knobs on the Cartoni tie-down are 71mm across at their widest point, which prevents these tripod legs from closing all the way.

The widest point on this tie-down is 45mm, and it works perfectly with the Manfrotto legs and holds the 100mm ball head tightly with no play, even though it is listed as a 75mm tie down.

The female thread receiver is 10mm, and it's deep so even if you have a really long screw on the bottom of your head, it should still accept it.
