Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Anyone ever try this with a Miller 100mm Head ?

A: The Manfrotto 529 Hi Hat with 100mm Bowl should be compatible with a Miller head that has a 100mm bowl mount.

Q: 2. Since the product page showed only one product picture, I saw a big hole in the middle, and there's no way to know about the constructure. After buying this(not yet), what else should I buy to make a whole camera-supporting system? Thanks.

A: This is designed to be used with either a 100mm or 75mm fluid ball head (there's an adapter so the 75mm head will work).

Q: 3. Can this be used on a photography tripod like the Manfrotto 190xprob and mount a fluid head? Or should I just buy a video tripod with a fluid head already included instead?

A: I purchased this riser to be used at our church. It is screwed to the balcony front rail and has a Manfrotto fluid head supporting the Panasonic video camera. It is very well made, light yet sturdy and stable for our needs. I would think this mounted to a sturdy/beefy photo tripod and a fluid head will work quite well.

Q: 4. can that Reverse setup when wanna low angle?

A: For a low angle, you would want to use a shorter stand, such as a set of Avenger Combo Steel Stand 10s: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/611470-REG/Avenger_A1010CS_A1010CS_Ultra_Low_Boy.html/specs

Q: 5. Would this work with a Benro S8? I'm concerned about the length of the Benro's stem. Also, how can this Riser be connected to a tripod?

A: Hi Thomas. Sorry for the delayed response. I use this item to attach a Miller Compass 21 Fluid Head to a very tall Manfrotto 161 Tripod (3 meters in in height). It's enabled a number of difficult shots. I am not acquainted with the Benro products (as such) but I can confirm that this item has worked well for me in the way that I have described.

Q: 6. Any recommendations on hardware ( nuts/bolts ) for mounting to an octagon board?

A: it has mounting options. You'll need to buy OTC simple hardware.

Q: 7. Is there a board I can buy that will turn this into a hi-hat? It would need to have a 3/8ths stud in the middle

A: Ikan does not have a board option for their IK-RSR6 riser. Other solutions with a board are - Proaim Heavy-Duty Cinema Hi-Hat with Octagonal Board (75mm) BH #PRHTBWL7500

Q: 8. How do you under sling this Dana?

A: You can put the Dana Dolly Hi Hat Universal Kit in an underslung position by first removing the low hat by unscrewing the thumb screws from the sled, flipping the low hat, and then securing the low hat by screwing into the 4 countersunk mounting points.

Q: 9. This is listed as an accessory for the ikan IK-RSR6 Hi-Hat Riser but I don't see how they connect. Wouldn't there need to be a 3/8ths stud?

A: The Alan Gordon Enterprises Hi-Hat and Low-Hat Mounting Board is not compatible with the ikan IK-RSR6 Hi-Hat Riser (6").

Q: 10. Can the legs be inverted so that the bowl mount faces the floor?

A: Not that we are aware of. This system will not work in that way.

[4.57 lb] This riser / hihat will give you solid bang for the buck, with zero complexity and artistry of design that could be found in the Moma. I cannot attest to its longevity as I just purchased it, that being said the quality of the metal finish and the overall thickness of the tool is noteworthy so it looks built to last. I like the fact that you can use it not only as a hihat, but also as a riser for use on a slider. Very functional. When you compare it to other products in its class the price is less than half but the quality is at bare minimum equal. You get major value for your dollars here.

[55 lb / 25 kg] This is the perfect Hi-Hat. I can be on my 509 sticks, simply screw off the head and transfer it on to the Hi-Hat extremely fast. Would buy again and again.

[4.57 lb] It seems sturdy so far. We'll see over time. You will need a smaller (in lenght) M10 Threaded knob for your manfroto head. Mine didn't fit. That being said I wish they had a shorter 4 version.

[4.57 lb] One of my shooters asked for a small tripod for shooting the blooming of flowers. Told her she was nuts and would look for one at NAB. In the mean time just use a sand bag. While at the John Lennon Experience bus at NAB I noticed this small tripod. Perfect for what my shooter wanted. It gets way down almost to ground level and supports a full size ENG camera. Plus the cost fits nicely into my equipment budget. My shooter loves it but now says it is heavy. Told her to hit the gym and do some free weights.
