Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I recently bought sachtler FSB 8 Mark II , need to check will this plate will work with that ? i want to use my arca swiss plates with that.

A: The Kirk QRC-4.2 Arca-Type Quick Release Clamp can be screwed onto the plate that comes with the Sachtler FSB 8 MK II Fluid Head with Sideload Mechanism. With this screwed on top, on can attach arca type plates.

Q: 2. Has anyone mounted this plate on a Giottos MH 1300? There is a small notch on the bottom side of their plate to prevent spin and Im wondering if this has one too.

A: Chris I not mounted this plate on a Giottos MH 1300, I use a 3D camera. This camera is a Matterport Pro 3D.good luck

Q: 3. What is the maximum load the Kirk QRC-1 is designed/able to hold securely? Can I attach a Nikon D4 with a 70-200/2.8 lens to it?

A: I haven't had the specific configuration you have. I used it for a Nikon D750 with a 200-500 f5.6 without any problem.

Q: 4. Can this clamp be mounted flush to broad flush surface or will the knob impede that kind of mounting? I guess another way of asking the question is does the knob protrude below the bottom of the clamp?

A: No, it cant, ...yes, the knob protrudes below the bottom of the clamp

Q: 5. Will this adapt to a Manfrotto 410 head/plate?

A: Yes the Kirk QR-AB1QR Universal Quick Release Adapter with Quick Release Clamp is compatible with the Manfrotto 410 head and RC4 plate.

Q: 6. It looks like the base of the grip could be attached to a monopod. Can you confirm this?

A: The Kirk SG-QRV2 Support Grip with Quick Release Clamp has a 1/4 female thread on the bottom. It will work with many monopods and tripods. Note, a 1/4 inch thread is not a lot. Best if used that way not to use a heavy camera with a heavy lens.

Q: 7. Hi,Any idea what is the total length of this clamp?

A: The head fitting's length is 1.5 inches.

Q: 8. Is the knob also made out of aluminum? or is it plastic? other? Thank you.

A: The knob is plastic.Hard plastic very sturdy. This is an excellent clamp.I use it to fasten my Black rapid strap to my L bracket.

Q: 9. The adapter relies on 1/4-20 studs (from below on the original mounting plate, and from the top on the arca swiss block) to hold the entire assembly...what are the weight/torque limits on this kind of set up? How much should one trust a single 1/4-20 stud to hold big glass?

A: I would say that if you feel that way, you should trust your expensive glass to double 1/4" or single 3/8".

Q: 10. Can you change the Befree Live plate to arca-swiss?

A: No, the RC5 quick-release is integral to the BeFree Live fluid-head and not removable. If you want to us the fluid head then you'll have to use an adaptor block, like the Kirk QR-AB1QR, with the BeFree's RC5 camera plate.

[Screw Knob] This quick detachable arca mount is good to go. Light weight and strong is how I describe it. It has no flex. I'm using it on a 15 pound prs rim fire and it is rock solid. I trust it .

[Screw Knob] Well machined little clamp that allows me to use my new luma labs camera strap on my old 5dmark iii without buying a new L bracket. Same for my lens food on some of my longer lenses. My new canon 5r will have the L bracket made by Kirk equipped with the QD adaptor already there.

[Aluminum] Berry good!
The structure is solid and wonderful. It also comes with a hex wrench, so I was so grateful that I could tear when the set screw came loose at the shooting site such as in the mountains or the sea.

[Arca-Type] Honestly a little expensive compared with no-name clamps, but for attaching a QD socket to an Arca rail, it's between this and the even-more-expensive RRS one (which was out of stock). The RRS version has gaps for a strap, which I could imagine using. This version seems okay and robust enough (I'm using it to add a safety secondary QD connector to an L plate in case I don't seat the main QD properly, or optionally to a lens foot), and being thin is useful for storage. It feels as though it could still be a little smaller (not least the knob) since it bulks out the camera and L-plate considerably. Still, if it saves my camera from a drop, it'll be worth it.

[8.2 x 5.65 x 1"] I added this to my monopod to make it easier/faster to put the lens on. Having the little screw that keeps in it place is a great feature!

[0.375 lb] I recently switched from Manfrotto RC2 plates to Arca Swiss and needed a secure way to connect my camera to my Black Rapid strap. This quick release clamp used with Kirk's QD Quick Disconnect Push Button Swivel is the perfect solution if your camera or lens base doesn't already have the QD system.
