[f/22 to 45] Great lens for hiking. Good sharpness thru the range. Sharper than the Z 24-200 in my opinion.

[77 mm (Front)] I've been using this lens for almost 4 months and am loving it. What makes this lens work is the use of high ISO's. Newer software is amazing at correcting this and it will get better. I have shot softball tournaments from 10am until midnight under field lights. Never missed a beat. Birding? Landscapes? Does great. Nikon Z lenses are a new standard.

[Full-Frame] This is a really great lens for travel when you want a single lens with range. Do wish it was a bit faster (end up at f/8 pretty quickly) but does well outdoors, especially with the Zf sensor. This plus a fast pancake lens is a great travel combination.

[Yes] Nikkor lenses always had great glass - and this sense does not disappoint - in fact it makes me so happy because it is so light weight - and at my age of 76 , after 6 decades of making photographs and using Nikon equipment - I am grateful for that light weight in such a quality long lens.

[Full-Frame] A nice light and convenient lens for travel. I use other lenses for wildlife photography on the Z9, but this is great go-to lens for the hobbyist. Couldn't be easier. Like the lock to keep it from extending. Wish it had a manual switch. I couldn't wait to get mine and now just keep it on the camera body, ready to go.

[77 mm (Front)] I decided to exchange my D750 for the Z8 and was looking for a lens to pair with it. After hours and hours of reading and watching YouTube reviews I decided to go for this one instead of the 24-120 F4 S lens.
Mainly for the 400 mm reach. I must say I was a little worried about IQ before receiving it. But as I don't shoot professionally I decided to give this one a try.
Couldn't be more satisfied with it.
PROS:
Very decent IQ
Lens built in correction works fine
Excellent pair with Z8

CONS:
F8 from 200mm and on
Not an S Lens
High price.

[9, Rounded] I wanted a lens for my Nikon Z6 iii that would be good for wildlife both at a distance and close up. My main lens is a prime 500 mm...great for distance but not for when wildlife is near. I ran the 28-400 through three days of tests. All outdoors from sunrise to sunset. I was worried that f8 at 400 mm might be soft...it wasn't. Would be happier if it was 6.3...but it's not and I am still happy.

[77 mm (Front)] For photographing my kids events (sports, scouts, etc.) and travel this lens is perfect. I had the old F mount versions (18-300 DX and 28-300 FX) and this was the first Z mount lens I purchased as I’ve found they’re the best bang for the buck. You can’t beat the focal length range and while I’d love if it was a fixed f5.6, f4-8 works with only a very rare occasion wanting for a faster f stop. I’m not a professional photographer and I don’t interrogate every pixel, but I’m sure if you are this might not work for you. However, if I have to limit what I take with me this is the first lens I grab. My only complaint with the lens is you do get a lot of barrel creep and if you’re going to walk around with it on a shoulder strap you’ll want to use the zoom lock. If you’re looking for a really good does most everything really well, I think you’d be happy with this lens.

[0.35x] I use it on my Z 8. I have quite a few lens for the Z 8 and Z 9, including primes. I am surprised how well the lens works!

[f/4 to 8] When I grab the camera for a casual day of errands, a brief walk, or family gatherings I always take this lens. It’s not the sharpest or fastest etc but you will not miss a shot with it.
