Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. why does it say aluminium housing on the celestron website.....is the above a mistake Each Echelon binocular housing is made of aluminum alloy, to keep them strong yet lightweight, an important factor when considering a big binocular purchase.Reply Vik S on Mar 23, 2015 ?

A: Yes this binoculars housing is made out of Aluminum Alloy. My apologies for the confusion on the site. I will alert my Web Team to update this.

Q: 2. Does it come with azimuth and elevation readings?

A: The Celestron 25x100 SkyMaster Binoculars BH #CE25X100SM • MFR #71017 dose not have azimuth and elevation readings.

Q: 3. Do these come with a hard case?

A: No, the SkyMaster 20x80 comes with a soft case. Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

Q: 4. I have a Celestron 25x100 binocular that came with a Celestron Alt-Azimuth tripod Model 93607 but they don't seem to mate very well and the tripod does not elevate more than a few degrees above hrozontal. Do I have the wrong tripod?

A: I have the same binoculars and tripod. The mating to the tripod is very solid; no problem at all. Perhaps you've sorted that out by now. The range of elevation angles is somewhat limited from what I'd prefer. It's about plus/minus 20 degrees. However, anything more could make it very awkward to sight through the binoculars.

Q: 5. diopter adjustment?

A: Of course. It has center level adjustment of focus, an as usual the left side permits diopter adjustment.

Q: 6. is it meant to be polycarbonate housing or aluminium?

A: Polycarbonate housing

Q: 7. Trying to confirm that this item includes an interface to mount to a tripod?

A: I believe so as I just screw mine directly to a camera tripod. I didn't have to purchase any adapter or extra parts.

Q: 8. Can I see the rings of saturn and the bands on jupiter with 20x80?

A: Absolutely. A 20x power binocular will easily show the rings of Saturn and bands of Jupiter along with moons of Jupiter. These are excellent binoculars also for viewing many other objects in the night sky.

Q: 9. Recommended tripod?

A: Celestron does recommend this tripod, Celestron TrailSeeker Tripod with Fluid Pan Head B&H # CETPTFP MFR # 82050

Q: 10. Can you see all the rings of Saturn

A: You can see the planets through the SkyMaster Pro 20x80 binoculars, but it does not have enough magnification to show any surface details or Saturn's rings. A telescope will be the better choice.

[20x] I purchased my Celestron 25 x 100 binoculars from B &H and mounted them on a tripod rated for 10 lbs. I use them for astronomy and can see ORION and the Horsehead nebula very well as well as the moons that orbit Jupiter and the rings around Saturn. I also was able to use them to observe the comet PANSTARRS with great clarity. I very impressed with the optics as I also have a pair of FUJINON 16x70 and these Celestron are just as good. For the money I don't think you can go wrong and Celestron stands behind their products. I would recommend them highly.

[70 mm] As i live on a city with light polution, these marvelous binoculars help me to see the stars, constelations and globular clusters, that's impossible without it, even the 4 Jupiter satelites. But, be aware that's need a tripod, because of the weight.

[-4 to +4] When I got these, packed in two, not one, cases, I immediately set them up, with some difficulty, on the excellent Magnus VT-350 tripod that was quite properly recommended by the agent on the phone. Looking at a distant lightpole in front of a bright sky, I was struck by not only by the clarity of the detail (IF is great!), but also by the disparity of chromatic aberration. I planned on taking them out to the next scheduled star party with my Astronomical Society, to wow them a bit perhaps, but luck would have it, we were clouded out.
Anyway, I would not hesitate to persuade anyone to save big bucks by going ahead with these first and in the unlikely event you are not blown away, then empty your wallet for a more munificent product. Going that far is not something I readily do, but there you have it!
Clear skies and good luck for all of us seemingly cornered into this niche of observational obsessing...

[3.5 mm] Nice quality, very powerful. Yes, as the other ratings say, you WILL need a tripod, but that is what you get when you buy a serious set of binoculars. Amazing value!!

[19.5 mm] All the talk about loose screws and poor construction quality are lost on me. These are very nice and powerful and clear - definitely worth the money. And you can't beat the warrantee. I use them for all kinds of leisure...very often it is hard to find what your looking at when you take your eyes away and see with normal vision. These are stronger than the 'cheap' bushnell telescope I've had laying around.....Definitely a solid product. Use a good tripod (10lbs for binoculars) and common sense with the mount and you'll do fine. Night viewing is also great...seems to let a lot of light in...
