Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Two questions: 1. Is this airline approved as a carry-on?2. I need to carry a Nikon D800, 200-500mm lens, 28-300mm lens, a Speedlight and filters. Is this the right case?

A: Yes, even for international flights. I have drug it around more airports than I can remember. A great bag, definitely worth the cost. My only consideration is the length of the 200-500. Measure the lens and compare to te bag specs.

Q: 2. Are think tank wheels replaceable??

A: Yes they are!! I had one wheel crack (they're well designed, dual wheels, if one breaks there's still another there) and ThinkTank sent me out a replacement as soon as I contacted them! Great customer service!!

Q: 3. Will it fit in overhead compartments of smaller regional jets?

A: No, but fits some space under the seat infront of you. The problem is they will ask you to gate check regardless, if you really don't want to separate from your equipment, here is a trick: Before gate check, take all your stuff and put it in a soft bag. That will fit in any overhead. When you arrive, put your stuff back to your roller. A soft bag like the cheap blue ones from IKEA works great. It folds very flat and I always have one tucked in the roller when ever I have to fly. It's a pain but takes me 45 seconds to transfer equipment back and forth. Gives me peace of mind and the equipment always stays with me. I never have to fight with the airline agent and the are happy to take care your empty roller.

Q: 4. Will this fit a 17 Inch MSI Apache Pro Laptop? Because the Amazon Basic bag said it can fit 17 inch laptops but it does not fit

A: My 15 MacBook Pro just barely fit into this case. It seems unlikely that a 17 laptop would fit.

Q: 5. Has anyone put this in a 14x22x9 sizer? Or maybe someone could measure it? There have been a lot of stories lately about airlines being very strict and the published specs are not always right. TIA for any help.

A: Mine measures 14.5 x 22.5 x 9. I made about 15 flights last year and was never asked to use the sizer and had no trouble fitting it in any overhead bin, except for my very last short hop flight on an odd-ball plane. Once I got on board, I discovered that the overheads were unbelievably tiny, and the plane was full... so I had to get the bag gate checked .

Q: 6. Does this bag have backpack carrying capability?

A: The Think Tank Photo Airport Roller Derby Rolling Carry-On Camera Bag unfortunately cannot be used as a backpack.

Q: 7. It will work as Hand luggage in the airport?

A: Totally! I use this and a backpack on flights. Fits in overhead nicely.

Q: 8. What is the extended handle length from the ground to the handle? I am a tall person and this length is important.

A: This has , Two-position handle locks into place at either 39" or 42"

Q: 9. Will the laptop compartment fit a MacBook Pro 16"?

A: Its able to fit a MacBook Pro 16'' with a size of 14x9''.7x0''.66''

Q: 10. Can I use this with my Fuji GFX 50R?

A: Yes a Fuji GFX 50R is able to fit in this case.

[Yes] Got to where a backpack got computer items and another for camera gear was just too much. Modifying each leads to a great consolidation into this piece. One minor critique is the pocket for the notebook and accessories doesn’t open very far. Another 1:2 in or so in each side would be big improvement

[Yes] Such a necessary buy! I've been using the same travel bag for years, but since a bad rear ending accident lugging around a heavy carry on bag is less than ideal. So I got this bag and was able to move around the airport so easily. The wheels are amazing! Haha was able to fit all of my equipment including the canon R5c body and a few lenses. I was even able to put my westcott compact lightsstands on the side and secured it w the start and for the first time didn't have to worry about things falling out from the bag! Very happy with my purchase.

[Universal] Yes, this bag is pricey. It is worth the price though. The wheels are super smooth and the bag is very stiff and sturdy. I've had this bag for over two years and it makes traveling in airports a piece of cake.

Big fan!
