Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do you change the leg angle????

A: At the top of each leg is a release clip that allows leg adjustments to be made at set angles. :) In the pictures, the release clip is the part that says "Jobu Design Algonquin" on it.

Q: 2. How low can the legs go off the ground?

A: You could use the Manfrotto 165 On-Ground Tripod Spreader (B&H #MA165) or a 181 Folding Auto Dolly (B&H #MA181) to get the tripod legs off of the ground. If this is not the kind of product you had in mind feel free to email us directly at provideo@bhphoto.com and we can see what other solutions there are for you.

Q: 3. What type/support of a tripod is this, a 0 or 1?

A: If you are referring to Gitzo Series 0 or 1, this one has the same top leg diameter as the 1 series (25 mm). The 0 series has 21 mm legs. (I don't own it, just from the spec sheets of both)

Q: 4. Is the maximum height listed with the center column all the way up or down?

A: The maximum height listed is with the center column fully extended.

Q: 5. Which dolly works with this for mostly cinematography work? Also if legs are taken to the lowest height, will it still fit on the dolly?

A: The following Manfrotto dollies are compatible with this tripod: 114, 127, 127VS

Q: 6. The specs indicate rubber feet. Can Manfrotto spikes replace those and be inserted into the legs?

A: That I don't know, but I will tell that I do not recommend this tripod. It started to fall apart after relatively heavy use in about 5 months. Get a gitzo. There are worth it.

Q: 7. Does the Tilta fluid head on the VT-05 tripod have any adjustments or settings for pan/tilt drag and zeroing?

A: The tilta Travel Video Fluid Head with 3-Stage Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs features a step-less fluid head. The tension of the pan & tilt can be adjusted via the thumbscrews located on the sides of the fluid head.

Q: 8. Hi, Can I attach Manfrotto 496RC2 Head to this tripod? I currently have it on a Manfrotto 190XPROB. Thanks!

A: Yes, the Manfrotto 496RC2 Compact Ball Head would be compatible for use on the Manfrotto 190go! Carbon Fiber M-Series Tripod.

Q: 9. Will the older Manfrotto plate work as well, or do we have to but all new plates?

A: This head works with the RC5/Q5 quick release plates. The older RC2/Q2 plates will not work with this head.

Q: 10. Whats the benefit for going with the shorter 500BALLSH over the 500BALL (or vice versa)? Personal preference?

A: They both work at the lowest tripod's position, but if the ground is not flat and has some important asperities like in the forest or mountain, I think the shorter the better, as it may avoid bumping on a root for exemple. I chose the 500BALLSH because I also use my Manfrotto head with the Manfrotto 529 Hi Hat. Same reason as above.

[Yes] The purchase itself went well, and the price was very competitive. The tripod and head were what I wanted and needed - high quality, easy to set up and light, light, light. With the (heavyish) scope mounted it is about as heavy as just my old Manfrotto tripod and head alone. Perfect.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I spent far too much time researching tripods. I'm sure it would have been helpful to stop in to a brick and mortar store, but that wasn't an option, especially in the middle of the pandemic. I'm thrilled I finally settled on the carbon fiber 3-section Manfrotto 190. I don't even notice it when strapped on to the side of my backpack: the three additional inches (compared to the 190 4-section) in folded down height is just not an issue, and I'm glad I traded them for the additional stability that comes from having one less leg section to worry about.

[Yes] Upgraded from an old Manfrotto, and I absolutely love this one! It has a great feel to it, the release joints are easy to use, yet super secure. 10/10 recommend to anyone if it's within your budget!

[90°] This tripod is light to carry and solid in the wind. It's exactly what I needed for my spotting scope. I added a bit of padding for my shoulder and am enjoying it a lot. A big improvement from my old aluminum one.
