Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens fit the Canon T6?

A: Yes, the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens (Canon EF Mount) will mount onto the Canon EOS T6 DSLR camera. Do note that this is a fully manual lens, and you will have to both focus manually and set the aperture on the lens manually. As there is no electronic communication between the camera and lens, you would have to use either Av (Aperture Value/Aperture-Priority) or Manual mode to set the exposure.

Q: 2. Your description mentions a couple of times that it's a 15mm! This is a 10 correct?

A: This is 10mm lens for APS-C sensor the crop factor is 1.5 , that's equivalent to 15mm angle of view

Q: 3. Does this lens also work with autofocus on the a6000? Or is it manual focus only?

A: All Samyang lenses are manual focus lenses. While the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens (Sony E Mount) will mount directly onto the Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Camera, you would have to focus the lens manually when used on your camera.

Q: 4. How is this lens for astro-photography?

A: With it's wide angle view and wide f2.8 aperture, the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens is a great choice for astrophotography on a crop sensor camera.

Q: 5. are you able to mount filters on this lens? if so what mm filter would be used?

A: The hood is not removable. The only way to use a filter is to use a system that attaches to the outside of the lens.

Q: 6. Specs say that it has EF mount, but it also says it's designed for APS-C sensor cameras... This doesn't make sense to me. My concern is that I have an APS-C sensor camera now, but I'm planning to upgrade to a full frame camera in the near future. Will this lens work in a full frame camera?

A: All third-party lens manufacturers who design lenses for Canon DSLR cameras use the Canon EF lens mount which uses the red dot on the lens mount, regardless if the lens is designed for a camera that uses a full-frame sensor or a camera that uses the APS-C sensor. However, a lens designed for the Canon APS-C sensor should not be used on their full-frame cameras, regardless if the lens will physically fit. As such, while the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens uses the Canon EF Mount, it should not be used on a Canon full-frame camera. If you are looking for a lens to use on both full-frame and APS-C sensor cameras, then I would instead recommend the Samyang 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens for Canon EF Mount, B&H # SA1428C, for your needs.

Q: 7. Would that lens work well on the Canon C300 Cinema Camera ?

A: This lens covers an APS-C/Super 35mm sensor, which the C300 has. The Samyang 10mm will work very well on the Canon C300.

Q: 8. I'm thinking of buying this for a GH4, as I've already got a (non speedboosting) adapter, or are there any pros or cons to buying one directly for MFT, like this Rokinon? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1039937-REG/rokinon_10m_mft_10mm_f_2_8_ed_as.html

A: The only thing you may want to consider is the ease of use with this lens if you were to use other micro 4/3 cameras in the future; otherwise, there aren't really any cons to getting this lens if you plan to use it with a speed booster.

Q: 9. Can't see the back of this lens. Does it have any electronic connection to the camera body or is it 100% manual. The biggest question I have in that is in regards to the manual aperture ring is it the auto step-down type that stays wide open until the the shutter button is pressed or the aperture step down button is pressed like a canon FD lens or does it close down manually like a Lensbaby Velvet ? Also I'm wondering is there Metadata info sent to the camera? I don't think ether of these things are going to be a huge factor in my choice in buying this lens or not, it's about the image quality is first and foremost, I just want to know what I'm getting.

A: The lens is 100% percent manual. There is however some kind of connection to step-down aperture when you press shutter. There is no metadata sent to camera. In my case all pictures come out as some generic 50mm lens - same as for another 8mm Samyang lens I use. At least this is how lens behaves on Canon 7D.To address that I developed another step in my workflow and I am updating EXIF settings to correct lens right after importing images to Lightroom.

Q: 10. Is this lens threaded for filters?

A: No it isn't. It has a non-removable lens hood with no filter threads.

[1.72 lb] Wonderful glass for a landscape survey. Good, strong and very light lens for very little money. He demonstrates minimum chromatic aberrations and very interesting colour picture. A virtual presence is felt on the lens of polarization filter. Possesses very moderate distortion in the class, that interesting in an artistic plan. Provides the remarkable working out in detail in the center of shot and good on periphery. Ideal combination of price and quality. Hand focusing pleasant feature, bonus for creative process lovers. There are universal options: aperture 11, distance is a 1 meter. And you are busy at only composition. I recommend!

[APS-C] I bought this lens to use with my Nikon D7100 for milky way photography. The lens exceeded my expectations-- it was easy to use and the images were phenomenal-- a great angle of view and sharp detail. I could not be happier.

[6] Simply awesome! Excellent sharpness and low presence of CA. I use it for travel and hope to use it soon for astrophotography. The manual focus ring is smooth and it's a pleasure to focus with it. Best quality/value ratio for me.

[6] Just recently bought this lens for shooting the night sky and I was very impress with the performance. Star Trails and Milky Photos turn up very nice. Vignetting appears to be non-existence.I was thinking between this lens and the 16mm Rokinon (Which also has great reviews) and for only $ more you get the 6mm drop in Focal Length for the 10mm Ultra Wide view. That to be me was the best extra $ you can spend to capture a huge range in a photo w/o getting the distortion of a fish lens (which an 8mm lens will get you). This is a manual lens, but for night photography it really isn't that big of a deal because you'll just leave the f-stop at 2.8 and focus at infinity for best performance.Lens is pretty big for it's size and it does not take lens filters. Given that lens filters are basically unnecessary in the digital world and that this isn't a walk around lens these drawbacks really didn't matter to me.$ for a solid prime ultra wide lens while a canon equivalent would go for $-$. Best bang for your buck.

[Manual Focus] I got one of the first copies of this lens in Pentax K mount from B&H and I have to confess I am using it as a shift lens on my Olympus m43 cameras with a Kipon shift adapter. In terms of sharpness, this lens beats easily whatever else is out there for m43, including the Olympus 9-18mm and the Panasonic 7-14mm. No color fringing or distortion noticable. It's a little on the heavy side, and I am not sure whether I trust the focusing mechanics. I am always very gentle when using it. But in terms of shear optical performance, this lens is a gem.

[APS-C] I haven't really gotten a chance to use it, other then a few test shots around the house. Taking it camping this weekend to get some milky way and landscape shots so I'll know more after that. Rating it 5 stars for now because of the timely shipping and the feel of the lens, the focus is smooth, and the lens feels well built.

[1.72 lb] Just received this on 4/11 for my K3 and glad I didn't wait as B&H is already out of stock a day later! All exaggeration aside, my preliminary day and night shots are fantastic. Vignetting is acceptable at wide open, but stopping to f/7 quickly erases this. I see very minimal, if any, CA across the aperture range. Samyang's UMC and NCS are no gimmick. The bokeh is nice and soft. I still need to put this lens through a full day of shooting, but for now this is a serious bargain and worth every dollar, hence the preliminary 5 star rating. Best of all, this is a rectilinear lens, not a fisheye! There is no heavy pincushion distortion on the borders. Landscapers like me appreciate power poles and buildings that do not bend on the periphery of the image or need post-processing to correct. I didn't expect this to have an aperture ring, but for the Pentax you simply turn this ring to A (auto) and have full electronic aperture control from the camera. The manual focus ring has just enough resistance, but if you're clumsy you could certainly bump this out of focus. I do wish infinity focus was a hard stop, but this is nitpicking as most lenses are the same. The protective lens cover/cap is a bit flimsy, but does stay in place. However, I wonder how well this cover would remain intact if the lens fell just 3 feet? For those who complain this lens needs AF to be worth the price (there's always someone), they need to ask themselves why that truly matters for a prime UWA lens in the first place. Since this lens conveniently went out of stock soon after I purchased it, I added a photo of the item to prove I own it and to add credibility to this review. I am not a Samyang employee, but I do appreciate QUALITY third party lenses and not having to pay premium prices for the Canikons. Samyang really stepped up their game with their 14mm prime, and IMHO they've elevated the bar again with this 10mm.

[Manual Focus] This is my first wide angle lens. I can hardly believe how much of the scene fits into the frame. The lens is crystal clear and fairly easy to use. The manual focus and f-stop settings take some getting used to at least for me. Setting the focus seemed difficult at first, however setting the focus ring just before infinity puts almost all shots in total focus. Using live view with magnification puts focus dead on. The lens feels durable and well built. So far I have only taken shots to help me understand the lens but I am happy and impressed with it.

[APS-C] This is quite a nice lens. Even when wide open the image is really sharp in the centre. The colours are neutral. The build quality is excellent. The focusing feels better then my Sigma 30mm art.
