A: I'm not sure if you have full frame camera or not but there is a big difference between the 50 & 28. Get the 28mm if you want a more wide angle lens.

A: FX lenses such as this are fully compatible and intended by Nikon for you to use on your DX bodies such as the D7100. Nikon does not make a DX version of this lens for me to offer you an alternative in this case.

A: That's an easy question for me since I think the 16-35/4 is one of my least favorite Nikon lenses, while the new generation of G f1.8 lenses are among my favorites. Both the 20/1.8 and 28/1.8 are much better, although you do give up VR.

[f/1.8] A great walk around lens. Nicely balanced on my new A7CR, but also works just fine on my A6000 [as a 35mm]. Should I have saved the money for the 4x the price Zoom 20-70? No, you/ I can afford both lenses. 5

[Nikon Z] I purchased this mainly for video for my Nikon Z6. It performs comparably to my other Nikon brand Z primes (35mm f1.8 for example) in terms of speed of focusing and shooting experience. I haven't pixel peeped the photos taken with this lens but for video it works very well and quietly. Build quality is tight and excellent. Viltrox is a leader in value/quality ratio in my opinion. In addition to being significantly lower price than the Nikon brand equivalent Z lens, this lens is actually a little more compact in size which I like for gimbal use. 5

[Nikon Z] Interfaces with Nikon Z cameras well. F stop of 1.8 makes it a little bulky and heavy, but takes great sharp fotos. 5

[2.085 lb] I purchased this lens to use alongside my Sony 50mm f/1.4 GM as 35mm is not a focal length I use enough to warrant buying the 35mm GM as well. I used this lens for several full photo sessions and it autofocuses quickly and accurately, and is as sharp as you'd want it to be! I have no problem using this lens for client work and delivering images taken with it. Highly recommend! 5

[f/1.8] I'm pleasantly surprised by this lens. It is sharp, quick to focus, has a solid build and operates smoothly. It fits both my Z50 and Z6 II nicely and is of relatively light weight. 5

[74.6°] Thought I'd take a chance on this lens and really glad I did. Excellent build quality, tack-sharp images, completely silent operation, and perfect mating with the Z6ii controls... all for half the price of the Nikkor. Recommended. 5

[Nikon Z] The lens provides picture quality that is definitely significantly better than Sony FE 28mm F2.0 and even better than the Canon EF 28mm IS USM. My copy is optically almost perfect lens. On the dark side we can find not so much - the weight and dimensions might be a little bit less, and there is some quite moderate field curvature that is leaving completely after aperture down to f4 and more. Generally, that is an amazing lens. 5
