Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'm hoping to use this to put in between a lap top running power point and a projector to document the presentation with this device while I film the speaker with another. Sounds like with the internal looping this would work. Any pitfalls? Also if a speaker has old VGA laptop, I assume there is a converter but wondering if any other surprises to this approach?

A: Works great to do screen capture on Mac with hdmi out... I mention Mac because Ive tested and the hdmi output options on macs are great for changing between interlaced and progressive etc so the files dont look jumpy when you play them back.

Q: 2. Is it compatible with the Nikon D3300? It can output a clean, free from overlays feed on HDMI.

A: It should be, It has HDMI and mini BNC inputs, so far it takes signal form any device i have tried. I have not tried a Nikon camera, but it works with my Panasonic and JVC video cameras.

Q: 3. How much record time can I expect with using a 64bit SD card (for DNxHD, or Apple Pro Res?)

A: That depends entirely on the video quality level/bit-rate you set on the camera. It can range from from 10 minutes to 4 hours.

Q: 4. The expected availability recently went from August to October. Is there a specific reason for this delay or is it a random guess?

A: We were told by Blackmagic the roll out would be delayed. If there was a reason given, it is not known by us sales agents.

Q: 5. How does the Anton Bauer battery plate connect to the 662/S? Is there any documentation or pictures that shows how that connection happens?

A: The 662/s has a 2 pins connector on the back case for plugging Anton Bauer mount.

Q: 6. is there a sunhood available for this?

A: At this point we do not carry a hood specifically for the Video Assist. However the monitor has not yet been released so 3rd party manufactures have yet to create a lot of accessories for it, but eventually they will. Please keep an eye on our website for updates and new releases as they become available.

Q: 7. How does this pair with the 1dc? Would this be a good choice for HD acquisition being that it records 1080p at 60fps? Would the result be 10bit 422?

A: It will work with your Canon DSLR as long as it has an active video HDMI output. The video format recorded to the SD card is 10bit 422 ProRes in your choice of codec (Proxy, LT, 422, HQ). DnxHD is an option as well. Here is a link to the tech specs for the producthttps://a href= http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicvideoassist/techspecs target= _blank www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicvideoassist/techspecs/a

Q: 8. In the product images the Video Assist has a histogram displayed. Does this monitor support other scopes: false color, vector, etc?

A: At this time, outside of histogram, audio meters, timecode display, and more it is not known exactly what the Blackmagic Video Assist will display. Please watch the B&H website for updates as they are known.

Q: 9. can you record from a 4k camera ?

A: You can record HD output from a 4K capable camera but you cannot record 4K. The highest resolution possible with the Video Assist is Apple ProRes 422 HQ or Avid DNxHD RAW.

Q: 10. Ol,ele grava na sada HDMI da 5D mark II ?

A: Yes it will record the HDM output of the 5D. Note that the HDMI output of the camera may not be the expected frame rate and resolution and may contain in camera displays. It is up to camera settings to obtain a clean feed to the HDMI.

[1920 x 1200] Real Buttons! This device features actual knobs and buttons for settings. No need to navigate too many submenus and multifunction buttons. Video quality is good. Speaker is adequate for our needs.

Does not include power supply, so you'll either need a battery or to purchase a PSU for it. Other than that, it's great.

[Metal] This monitor works very well and has all the features I wanted and more. Each monitor can be controlled individually with on/off switches, headphone monitors, menu and more. I use the Triple for monitoring each camera connected to my switcher and it works superbly. I only wish there was a version of this monitor that had 4 monitors even if they were a bit smaller. So far I've been really happy with FeelWorld monitors.

[21.1 x 8.4 x 5"] The monitor is solid and the price is right! The menus and setting sharpness, color, are not that difficult to navigate. I haven't seen anyone have problems setting it yet. I just can't wait until I have a moment to wire up, integrate it's tally.

[Metal] I have used this monitor on a SDI cable with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. It is the only affordable solution to monitoring on SDI and it works as advertised.

[1100:1] We needed a monitor for our production team because we were using an old TV for awhile instead. It works great, especially for when filming outside.

[2 RU] Excellent features for the price. I never know how much difference a field monitor would make in our production quality. This unit has false color which aids focussing; wave form and histogram views to aid the lighting set-up up front so less effort is needed in post. Unit comes with a sun shield for outdoor use and has a variety of mounting options. It can be mounted on top of a DSLR with the hot shoe mount or on a stand or tripod. Multiple inputs formats can be used although I only use the HDMI input. I use a separate HDMI selector switch to enable multiple cameras to use the same monitor which facilitates camera matching.

[16:10] A 5 monitor seemed too small for my Nikon D7500 DSLR rig, where the C6 was 'just right' and doesn't add significantly more weight when handheld.

Best thing about the C6 is how bright it is - able to clearly see the screen even in mid-day southern California sun (the sun hood does help with glare control for contrast). When indoors or at night, the screen dims to comfortable levels (extending the battery time).

Been getting about one hour of runtime at low/mid-brightness using Ikan NP-F750 5800mAh with HDMI loop out and powering my Tilta Nucleus-n wireless focus motor. Do recommend using a battery plate on your rig for better weight distribution/balance.

The U/X is easy to use via the touchscreen or the control wheel.

Comes with a semi-hard carrying case that snuggly fits the monitor with closed cell foam screen protector, plus a zippered accessory pocket big enough for the mounting bracket, and maybe a short HDMI cable or two. Note that the case won't fit batteries or other accessories.

Only significant issue is the 1/4-20 mounts on the monitor. A) they are not ARRI-style compatible, with the registration holes on the C6 spaced 12mm on center vs 15mm of the ARRI-style anti-rotation pins, plus they are too shallow. B) DC power in/out jacks are too close to the bottom -20 mounting hole to allow using a NATO rail or other quick release plate. So you either need to use the provided arm or get another monitor arm that just screws on.

[5.45 lb] This monitor is feature packed for the price. We are using it for an on set production monitor which works very well. It has everything you would want including audio monitoring at the monitor. Focus peaking is very nice and the wave form is handy too. We use the NP-F970 batteries and we yet have to change batteries during a shoot. I was also very pleasantly surprised when the monitor arrived in a very nice metal case. The only negative is the menu navigation is a bit clunky but is alright once you get used to it. Bottom line... You'll have to pay more than twice the money for a monitor with the same features and quality. Highly recommended for low budget and student film programs.

[HDMI/SDI] I am an independent producer, shooter, editor, scriptwriter, etc. I shoot a great many interviews and have, as of late, been reducing the size and weight of the gear I have to lug around. For the last year, I have been lugging around a TV set I bought@. It was cheap and I really only needed it for positioning of the interviewee. I had to bring power blocks and stingers to run the TV set. Now, with this hot little monitor, I not only get great positioning, outstanding quality of image, and other features (some of which I don't use), it also runs forever on batteries. Before I purchased it, I read some of the reviews. I must say that I could find none of the problems other people say they had. I think most of those other reviewers preferred to open the package, turn everything on, and, then, when it wasn't exactly what they expected, tried to read the instructions. I read them first and the unit is great. I have compared it with other units that cost four times as much and I can't tell the difference.
