[Neoprene] Great light weight scope. Absolutely competes with all the bigger,heavier more expensive spotters. If you are hiking, hunting etc... this is the scope 100%. It is much brighter , clearer and sharper than the size would indicate. If shooting from one spot only and no need for mobility then the bigger scopes do have a slight advantage. This scope clearly shows animals details/rack size points etc... out past 1500 yards easily. At this price point I expected excellence. It has exceeded those expectations. Wonderful optics !!!

[Neoprene] A great high power scope. A few points led me to this scope: -Lack of rubber coating. I often wonder how well the rubber protection coatings hold up after decades.
-Actual crystal lenses.
-The incredible focus system for fine adjustments and course adjustments.
-Dual tripod plate screws on foot.
-sights on the rubber sun shade for easier pointing

Fits well into my short distance walking birding trips. Would ideally complement this with a much smaller scope for backpacking. Nothing beats the resolution and low light quality.
I've seen other reviews complaining about the leather green bag it came in. I'm the opposite, it's the epitome of Japanese aesthetic for which country this is made in.
Cons include the lens covers seem extremely cheap and they don't include a nice string to attach them. Also eyepiece cover seems slightly too tight. it's leaving indentations on the rubber eyepiece.

The alternatives (such as Nikon ED50 or Vortex Razor HD) always felt too much like a compromise.
This one is a real jewel and on a par with some of the best spotting scopes of the 65mm class.

Pros:
- Small and light
- Smooth and reliable focus
- Bright image for a 55mm scope
- High resolution, even at 45x magnification
- Useful magnification range
- Comfortable eye relief for wearer of glasses

Cons:
- Relatively small field of view (normal for a zoom eyepiece)

[Neoprene] This scope replaces a previous Nikon 82 mm lens scope with brilliant color and clarity! Excellent at long range viewing across the zoom range, and for closer views of birds it is extraordinarily sharp and awesome crisp imaging. Love it, looking forward to years of use.

[Neoprene] I owned a number of top rifle scopes, bino, and spotting scopes. As a serious long range shooter and enthusiastic hiker & nature observer, I can say that Kowa TSN-88 does not disappoint. The image quality is so good - the resolution, contrast, CA control (I cannot see any), view of depth, field of view..etc on this thing is on par with Swarovski ATX, but it costs 1000+ usd less. I also prefer KOWA's zoom ring design. Love this thing and highly recommend! my experience with B&H is also stellar. Order placed on Tuesday, received the scope on Saturday with regular shipping option.
