Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this console's Multitrack feature allow for Multitrack for DAW or that feature is only for USB Drives. I'm looking for something similar to Waves LV1 eMotion kit.

A: This will not work as an interface to your DAW. You can record to an external USB hard drive and drag your files into your workstation at a later tme.

Q: 2. do it has room tuning capability? like the touchmix 32?

A: The Touchmix 16 has a RTA Analyzer, but does not have the Room Tuning Capabilities the TM30 has.

Q: 3. low out put signal for video recording?

A: The output level will be wherever you set the Master Fader.

Q: 4. Does it generate a 1k tone for setting audio levels on an HD video camera?

A: At this time the QSC Touchmix-16 has no integrated tone generator available.

Q: 5. How do the VLZ4s compare to the original VLZs in terms of performance? When they stopped making the VLZs in USA, there was a sharp decline in quality.

A: The current line of Mackie VLZs are an evolution of the original 1604s. They have managed to stay relevant and consistently improve on their original design both aesthetically and technologically. They are still the go to mixer in that price point.

Q: 6. Is there a kid for this mixer? Don't see it listed to purchase DC-LID1600

A: The Dynacord DC-LID1600 is the appropriate lid cover for the Dynacord CMS 1600-3 Compact 16-Channel Mixer, however it is not currently available through bhphotovideo.com.

Q: 7. Is there or will there be an app for iphone?

A: At this time remote control of the QSC Touchmix-16 via the iOS app is only available for iPad and iPad mini. Unfortunately QSC has made no mention of expanding this to the iPhone at this time.

Q: 8. Is there a light per input to show an input is muted?

A: Each Mute LED light will glow when engaged.

Q: 9. What is the maximum compression ratio that can be set on each input channel?

A: Subgroups and mix outputs have a parameter-adjustable limiter, with ratio adjustable from 5-100:1, that can be switched to a compressor with a 1-20:1 ratio for group compression, or even to parallel compression by double assigning channels to subgroups.

[12.1 lb] I have just recived this two weeks ago. The QSC touchmix is simply splended and I love useing it with my Ipad. I do live bands and I also use it in my studio. It works with Pro Tools 11 with the newest update.

[2x USB-A] I bought a second TouchMix-16 so I would have one for performance and one for practice/backup. I have been very happy with the product. This one came with firmware version 1 which needed to be updated to avoid recording problems. It is not difficult to update the firmware. I would suggest using a solid state drive for recording if you are going to travel with it because it won't require special handling.

[-94 dB] I was really on the fence prior to purchasing this unit, but with the BH return policy I felt the risk was minimal. I am extremely pleased with the overall performance of this unit. Pros: -Lots of presets with reasonable setting. You are up and running with the board very quickly. -Clean menus. -Excellent responsiveness from both the touch screen and the dial control. -Very little, if any, audible noise of the board. This is comparable to other high end digital boards. - Good number of output options. - Firmware upgrade was very easy. Possible Improvements: - Podium EQ preset is not terrific. Seems to be an error in setup. - Allow the touchscreen to tilt. - Provide a locking mechanism for the XLR connector. - Provide a locking mechanism for the power cord. - Offer a longer whip on the DC side of the power brick. - Offer a locking IEC power cord going into the power transformer. - Offer a way to play an audio file from the record/playback screen. - Increase the spacing between the USB ports.

[6x Aux Send] Ok, I wanted to give this 4 stars because I can't get used to not having physical faders. But that's just me - I'm an old curmudgeon who has been doing sound longer than most of you have been alive. In truth, the tiny, lightweight console is just the thing when you're going to have to mix from any iPad anyway. The iPad app, btw, is really very good and much more responsive than some I've used for other consoles. There's still a lag, but it's acceptable. For multi-fader mixing (which I've done for decades), it's not quite there, but it can be done. Some of the functions on the console itself are a bit obscure, and thus better on the iPad. The head-amp gain seems a bit low (needs to be nearly full on for SM57's) but I haven't tried it with truly difficult mics like an SM7b or ribbon. For those a Cloudlifter might be required. I find the gate and compressor screens to be less informative than on other console iPad apps, though I understand the theory of what they are presenting. It's software though, so it may change in the future. Kind of miss the flags for gates and compressors that were in the pre-release 3 firmware, but that's not huge.

All in all, for the price, space and weight, it's hard to go wrong. And, in case you're wondering, yeah it sounds good too. I think it is not quite as good sounding as some more expensive 16 channel mixers (A&H comes to mind), but certainly acceptable in 95% of the small gigs I do.

If you're going to operate wirelessly, I don't think you can get 16 channels in a much smaller footprint and still have a usable console. This is an advantage - to me - over those rack mount only mixers where you have to work wirelessly.

The case, btw, is just about perfect. Everything fits in comfortably and without pushing and shoving on wires, etc. I wouldn't take the console anywhere without it. Looks nice too for those who are concerned about such things.

In my opinion, if you need small and light weight, this is the only choice.
