The KH 150 is a powerful bi-amplified studio monitor with reference-class performance. Its 6.5" woofer in a bass reflex cabinet provides stunning low-end and high-end SPL capability with undiminished clarity. DSP-controlled electronics ensure linear phase response and allow for room-adaptive calibration using Neumann's revolutionary MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment system.

The KH 150 follows the same philosophy as all Neumann studio monitors: highest linearity, lowest distortion, no coloration, and perfect adaptability to any acoustic environment. It allows you to hear every nuance of your tracks. Once you eliminate the guesswork, mixing becomes so much faster and easier, not to mention more creative. It sounds amazing, but can you get away with that? Is that vocal bright or sibilant? Is it too much bass? The KH 150 will tell you—honestly.

  • What differentiates the KH 150 from its smaller siblings is its deeper bass response down to 39 Hz. That’s almost as low as the larger KH 310, which is made possible by the KH 150’s novel 6.5” high-precision woofer in a carefully designed bass reflex cabinet.
  • The KH 150 is ideally suited to urban music, EDM, film scoring, and all styles that require extended low-end and/or elevated listening levels.
  • Thanks to powerful amplifiers (145W/100W) and sophisticated protection limiters, no clarity is lost even at high SPLs.
  • The KH 150 works just as well for everything from rock to classical music, broadcast applications and voice-over work.
  • The KH 150 has an exceptionally linear frequency response from 39 Hz to 21 kHz (±3 dB). Not only that, it also linearizes the phase response, which translates to clear mids with astonishing transparency and extreme accuracy in the time domain, (i.e. precise impulse reproduction and finely resolved reverbs.) This is made possible by DSP-controlled electronics that allow for sophisticated crossovers and avoid the phase distortion caused by analog filters.
  • The internal DSP also achieves new standards in tonal consistency, as the KH 150 is made to extremely low tolerances of no more than ±0.8 dB.

  • Even the best loudspeaker only sounds as good as the acoustic environment allows. Neumann’s Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide guarantees a wide sweet spot and minimizes desk reflections. But the KH 150 goes much further—its internal DSP allows for room calibration using Neumann’s revolutionary Automatic Monitor Alignment system.
  • The MA 1 (sold separately) makes sure your DSP-powered monitors are optimally adapted to your room’s characteristics and perfectly calibrated for your listening position. Even in acoustically treated rooms, this results in a huge improvement.

Neumann engineers worked painstakingly to develop a patent-pending amplifier technology that combines superior audio performance with Class-D energy efficiency. Although the KH 150's amplifiers deliver up to 145W to the 6.5" woofer and 100W to the 1" tweeter, they only consume 17W at idle. And an optional auto-standby mode can be enabled to reduce power consumption to 0.3W when the KH 150 is not in use.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. how do you hang it horizontally with the included stand?

A: There are touch-fastener for both vertical and horizontal use on the light stand and there are loops on the side of the green screen that will allow for mounting both ways.

Q: 2. Is there an easy way or a certain way to fold this up? I love the backdrop but can't get it back in the bag.

A: Please refer to the following instructional video for reference. https://bit.ly/2PPIb4v

Q: 3. Have the background open and mounted for about a month now. Not only are wrinkles still present but there are pockets here and there and they do show on video. Steaming from what I read here takes care of the wrinkles. What fix does the manufacturer suggest to get rid of the pockets? Is there for example a technique for pulling the fabric around the rim? Can someone please describe the steps to take? Thanks.

A: Aside from steaming the wrinkles out, it is best to make sure that the wire frame within the background is not kinked in any way, which could be the cause of the pockets you're referring to. If using the white side, you can always light the background completely, which will essentially hide any imperfections on it.

Q: 4. I need this for taking family portraits at church for our church directory. How many adult size people can you easily fit on this background without having to be no farther than about 12 ft from your subjects for zooming in to contain everything? Thank you!

A: 2-3 people max, if you hang it horizontally and are only shooting head and shoulders, maybe 4 people.

Q: 5. Is it possible to unscrew the reflector clip and replace it with a studio light or flash?

A: You can remove the background clip. This stand is sized for the background so use your judgement when using it for other purposes. Make sure not to exceed the weight rating.

Q: 6. need to buy clips and an arm to attach to the stand for the pop-up background?

A: No additional accessories needed.

Q: 7. What are the dimensions of the top plate?

A: The dimensions of the Auray Adjustable Clamp-On Desktop Studio Monitor Stand's plate are 9.75 × 11.75" / 24.8 × 29.8 cm.

Q: 8. Please confirm that there is indeed a solid gray on the reverse side, as description of product makes no mention specifically of a solid gray on the reverse side, and only a mottled, painted gray is illustrated. If solid gray on reverse side, would you describe it as dark, medium, or light gray?

A: The one side of the background is dyed. The other is the untreated cloth and may or may not be a usable background.

Q: 9. is there a set up guide for this product? Studio Essentials PB101K

A: No , but its easy to set up

Q: 10. At 3.3 pounds, how sturdy is the stand, really?

A: The stand is suitable for holding up the background in the kit. It is not suitable for a large light.

[Active 2-Way] I needed to replace an old KRK to match a G3 that I already have... and thankfully I was still able to buy this. It appears to be identical to a G3 with a different name. I'm glad I didn't have to go with the G4s, as the EQ screen on that model is worthless to me. Very happy with my purchase.

[20.715 lb] I borrowed them as part of an impromptu DJ setup, small room. The Bass was punchy, the mids & highs were clean, clear & crisp, not edgy, filled the room well(The gain was set to 0db). Overall a great sounding speaker. I will get a pair for my home setup and practice.

[Active 2-Way] The large KH420 as well as its junior brother, the KH310, create a remarkably clean sound. They are scientifically designed by real audio engineers in Germany and offer the recording engineer or producer an extremely accurate sound. (What else would you expect from Neumann?) They are tri-amped speakers with very sharp digital 24db/octave crossovers The electronics (3 channels per speaker) are built in. All the speakers need is a line level, balanced input, such as you can easily get from the likes of a Grace m920 or M905, or just board out. The KH420's are designed for normal listening at a distance of 5 to 10 feet. The smaller KH310's do just as well sonically but they are intended to be closer to the listener's ears, say 3-5 ft. as they would be sitting on a console's meter section. The commenter has a pair of EACH of the speakers, so he knows first hand what he is describing. They are simply the very, very finest speaker systems I have heard in over 50 years of critical listening. They are pure gold. They are just super delicious to hear. Toss your hifi speakers out the window and upgrade to these very professional speaker systems. They are worth every penny, and you will never regret buying them. Just be certain you have an extremely clean signal to feed to them. Any sonic defects in source material will instantly be revealed. Not for the faint of heart!

[Vertical] These should be on your list for consideration.

I've been using them for audio and video projects and very pleased with their sonic quality and accuracy. I've used KRKs in other editing rooms and always impressed with the sound. The price point along with B&H customer service are the main reasons why I made the purchase!
