Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit with Sony 16-35 F4 PZ lens?

A: Yes, the Sensei 72mm quick clip lens hood will fit onto the threads of the Sony 16-35mm f/4 PZ lens. However, due to how long the hood is, there is a good chance it will vignette at the wide end of the lens.

Q: 2. Will this fit the 58mm 1.4?

A: Yes it does! I bought this cap to replace the one I lost from my 58/1.4. It works great.

Q: 3. Does it fit EOS R?

A: No, the Kase Clip-In ND1000 Neutral Density Filter for Canon R5 (10-Stops), B&H # KA1128050007, would not be compatible for use with the original Canon EOS R Mirrorless Digital Camera. It is specifically dedicated for use on the Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Digital Camera. Instead, the Kase Clip-In ND1000 Neutral Density Filter for EOS R (10-Stop), B&H # KA1128090007, would be the correct filter for use with the original Canon EOS R Mirrorless Digital Camera.

Q: 4. Will this cause vignetting on a full-frame 35mm lens? (Specifically, the Sony-Zeiss 35mm f1.4 ZA)

A: It is possible that you will experience vignetting even with a short hood although not probably with the 35mm. This usually occurs with wider lenses in general.

Q: 5. Is the front diameter of the lens hood is the same as it is in the back? Can a 72mm lens cap clip to the front of the hood?

A: Yes a 72mm lens cap can fit this hood.

Q: 6. Will this hood work with a 28mm lens on a full-frame Nikon dlsr without vignetting?

A: This lens hood would not vignette on a 28mm lens mounted on a full frame camera when it is rolled back.

Q: 7. Just wondering if it's the Fujifilm XF10-24 is too wide for it? Will it work on the XF10-24?

A: That lens would be too wide for this hood. You would get vignetting unfortunately.

Q: 8. How tall is this lens hood?

A: This is a little over 2"

Q: 9. Does this fit a Nikon AF Nikkor 28-200mm lens?

A: Are you asking about the AF-S Nikkor DX 18-200 3.5-5.6G ED lens? If so, the answer is yes.

Q: 10. Can this item be attached to a step up ring, or does it have to attach directly to the lens? On my smaller lenses, I use a 58-72mm step up ring because I only have 72mm filters, but then I can't use the lens hood. If this Would this Sensei hood attach to a step up ring?

A: Yes, it should clip on the ring, just like it would a filter or lens, however, the ring may have fewer threads than a filter or lens, but it should work.

[Glass] For those who don’t know, British company Formatt was acquired by Tokina a few years ago. Tokina also started to make their own black supermist filter. I took a gamble and bought Formatt (and a 1/8) since they’ve been making filters longer. I don’t have any Tokina’s to compare but the quality is good. The 1/16 halation is nice and subtle enough to make interviews just that more interesting but not too overbearing. I also like the Formatt’s pouch and magnetic seal.

[Glass] I bought this to pair with my Polar Pro 2-5 VND PMII for times where 5 stops still isn't enough, such as a recent scene in the middle of the day where we were shooting around T1.9, and it works fantastically. No color shift, no vignette. Great for the price.

[0.185 lb] I have been using the Firecrest graduated ND filter for a number of different outdoor shots and have been very pleased with the results. It solved a problem I had been having with various outdoor scenes with sun or even shots with water/no water. Quality is excellent and the ring filter turns easily. I just wish my fingers were not so clumsy!!

[Glass] Hi,

Purchased in late 2020 for Sigma 105mm 1.4 (Nikon).

This ND filter is really good because it does not create any color cast. The ND allows me to use the lens at f1.4 without overexposing the shadows (while using my strobes). It is a great ND filter, more neutral than a few others I purchased for a 85mm 1.8.

High recommendations.

[Glass] Highly recommended.

I purchased a 4-stop ND filter (1.2). It never comes off my Sigma 105mm f/1.4.

Practically all my headshots and portraits (250 clients) since the purchase were taken with this filter. I can keep the shutter speed in a reasonable range with strobes (1/30 -- 1/200) without relying on high-speed sync. I can also keep the strobes at a reasonable range (1/4 -- 1/128), which wouldn't be possible without a 4-stop loss of light transmission.

Other ND filters have funky colors - maybe I was lucky but this one has not created any noticeable color shift. Thank you Formatt!!

[0.185 lb] I bought this for the eclipse. I should have gone a bit darker but that was my fault not the filter. It does a great job retaining color accuracy. I have others that added yellow tint and this one kept pure white.

[Glass] I was on a short road trip and used this alone, and with the Formatt Hitech 10 stop ND filter. The results were superb in both cases - no colour cast. An added benefit of the Formatt filter is it is very thin, so vignetting is less of an issue. I would encourage people to take a filter wrench, just in case...
