The SLR Magic APO MicroPrime 50mm T2.1 Lens Sony Efrom SLR Magic APO MicroPrime 50mm T2.1 Lens Sony Eoffers apochromatic capture in a lighter-weight, cine-style form. With a 43.27mm image circle projection, this Sony E-mount lens is suitable for use with 8K cameras with high-resolution full-frame sensors. Its apochromatic elements are designed to correct color aberrations often seen in high-contrast images or shots captured with wide-open apertures.

Cine-style focus and iris gears and an internal focus design enable you to pull focus without the length of the lens changing, suiting this lens for use with rod-mounted accessories and matte boxes. The APO MicroPrime Cine lenses feature 150° of focus rotation, 10 aperture blades for smooth bokeh, a common 85mm front diameter that eliminates the need for multiple matte box adapter rings, and an internal 82mm filter thread.

Q: 1. What are the dimensions of these lenses? I see the weight, and box dimensions, but no product size. Thanks.

A: SLR Magic lists the dimensions of this lens as: Dimensions: 10.9cm (ref: http://www.slrmagic.info/product/APO+MicroPrime+CINE+APO32EF) Given the 82mm filter size, the lens is roughly 8.2cm x 10.9 cm.

Q: 2. Does this lens work with red komodo?

A: yes this is a standard canon EF mount lens and will mount on the RED komodo EF mount

Q: 9. 1.- Does this have user interchangable mounts ? 2.- can you use a follow focus like the Nucleus Nano with the iris wheel? it looks very tiny and narrow

[T2.1] This is now by far, one of my favorite 50mm lenses in Canon EOS mount. The colors are natural, there is very little focus breathing, the flaring feels classic but isn't extreme, the picture is detailed but not too sharp and, (the reason you buy an APO design lens) there is virtually no chromatic aberration. This lens is also all metal and well constructed, the iris and focus rings are smooth and have a comfortable 150 degree rotation. I'm looking forward to using this lens on a lot more projects.

[82 mm] This is a beautiful lens. The color is true. It loves skin. Wide-open it blooms, contrast drops, and it looks like you have a Promist filter on. Don't expect anywhere near sharp focus wide open. However, things sharpen up f/2.5-2.8. I bought and 32mm and 50mm, but the 32mm was soft through 3.5 - sent it back. I have yet to receive a replacement. Hopefully, it was a QC problem with that lens. Regarding the 50mm, the box had a crushed corner. So, I sent it back for an exchange.

[T2.1] Far from being an expert but i compared it to some cheaper lens and i can see a difference in the shparness and color rendering. Love it, and its the only affordable cine lens that isnt a Rokinon, so i'm happy.

[Sony E] It's true this new 2023 version is way better that previous version. I recently went to B&H with my old 25mm purchase 2022 and had a rep let me check out the 2023 version or new stock they had. I compared them and I realized the green cast was gone and it was brighter on the old 2022 version, the new one is even a bit sharper. I attached a image so you could see the difference.

I own the 25mm 32mm and 50mm. I'm going to pick up the 85mm later on this year.

[2.515 lb] These lenses are beyond believable. I bought a 25 and a 50 for my Canon C70. I think they work best when used with the regular adapter than with the .71, but that would definitely be an issue of the Canon adapter and not these lenses. The focused breathing is virtually nonexistent, the colors are accurate and consistent throughout the frame. This is by far the best full-frame cinema lens you'll put your hands on, not only at this price but I believe also at some higher price points. I don't mean to sound cheesy but I simply love the results.

[Sony E] I have the 25 mm SLR and with this lens it works great for me in matching the colors in the edition, there is no color variation in the optics and the look that this optics gives you is something modern and vintage.

[T16] In my opinion, the SLR Magic APO Microprimes are the best budget cine lenses on the market. All of the competitors in this price range - DZO, Meike, Rokinon, Irix, Dulens, etc. - have one or more of these weaknesses: chromatic aberration, lens breathing, color cast, or bokeh that contains "onion skin" or is shaped in a way I don't find appealing. Only the SLR Magic APO lenses performs very well in all of these categories. Extremely limited CA, minor lens breathing, accurate colors with maybe a tinge of warmth, and a clean, beautiful bokeh. I tested an older version of the 25mm and it had a distinct green color
cast compared to its siblings, but this new 25mm that I purchased from B&H in Feb. 2023 has fixed that issue and now matches my 32mm, 50mm and 85mm. Wide open at T2.1 the lenses have the right amount of softness for me, including around the edges, to cut the sharpness of digital sensors. At T2.8 it's a hair less sharp than my Sony GM primes and Fujinon Cabrio but very acceptable - again, especially given how sharp Sony sensors are. The very slight softness and warmth put the
lenses in between a vintage feel and modern feel, which I like. The flares are dramatic on these lenses, especially the 25mm, and that leans more toward a vintage feel.
