Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello. Does it fit well using a FTZ II adapter (I know an accessory is requested for FTZ) thanks in advance

A: Yes, the SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z5/Z6/Z7/Z6 II/Z7 II will accommodate the Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter.

Q: 2. Is it compatible with the original z6?

A: This grip is limited to the Z6 II and Z7 II only.

Q: 3. Where does the battery charging cable attach to the grip?

A: The charging connector on the Nikon MB-N11 Power Battery Pack with Vertical Grip is located right above the battery chamber cover; there is a rubber cover with the USB indication icon.

Q: 4. Does the MB-N11 battery grip's function button, wheel and joystick have programability within the Z6 II camera's menu system like the camera's wheel, joystick and buttons? Or, are the MB-N11's functions set/fixed by Nikon?

A: The buttons on the MB-N11 can be assigned as needed within the camera's menu.

Q: 5. Will this work with a Really Right Stuff L bracket on a Z 7ii? That is, can the L bracket be mounted on this battery pack so the whole rig can be tripod mounted using an Arca Swiss?

A: Although Really Right Stuff only offers L-brackets to fit the Nikon Z7 II without the MB-N11 attached, there is the Kirk BL-Z7IIG L-Bracket for Nikon Z 7II and Z 6II with MB-N11 Battery Grip, BH # KIBLZ7IIG would be a compatible option. https://bhpho.to/3I4yrza

Q: 9. I mean is this compatible with the EP-5B/EH-5b,c,d? I cannot see if the battery area has an opening for the cable

A: No, the Neewer MB-N11 Battery Grip for Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II is not compatible with Nikon EP-5B Power Supply Connector for Select Nikon Cameras and the Nikon EH-5d AC Adapter. Those last 2 camera accessories were designed to be connected directly in the camera.

Q: 10. What does the small button behind the shutter button do? On the Z7ii it's for ISO. It it programable in the menu?

A: That small button is the function button. You can assign the buttons in the Newell MB-N11 Battery Grip for Nikon Z6II Z7II to perform different functions in the camera menu. In this link it shows which functions are available to assign. https://bhpho.to/3VBRSHY

[0.88 lb] I love love my Z6ii, but the lack of battery charge has frustrated me on several trips. The addition. Of the battery pack has not only extended the shoots, but allows me to change batteries while the camera is in use!

[0.88 lb] Very useful for good balance using long lenses (ex. - 500 f4 AF-S, 200-400 AF-S) and when shooting vertical shots since it has an additional shutter release button. Adds weight esp. when using two batteries in the grip but worthwhile for the above uses and good for extended shooting when extra battery power is wanted. I have used these Nikon battery packs on all my other Nikon camera bodies for years and really like them.

[1/4"-20 Female] I like this grip, in my opinion is over priced for what it is. But then again I would not buy another brand. I like how solid it attaches to the body of my Z7II. Works perfectly and adds extra battery autonomy.

[1/4"-20 Female] Exactly what I was waiting for. The added weight helps balance the weight of the lenses and gives you a better grip on the camera to keep it steady. Being a photojournalist, I'm used to having the weight of motor drives on the D5's and D500's as a counter-balance as well as having access to camera settings in the vertical position. Appreciate that you can switch out the outer-most battery quickly

[0.88 lb] I bought this along with my new Nikon Z-7ii as a replacement for my Nikon D850. I moved my older Z7 from my location kit to replace the D850 in my studio and got the upgraded Z with battery pack for my location work. The grip adds much longer shoot time to my Z7ii and really is much more comfortable with the vertical grip controls when shooting portraits. the newer camera body and added grip really make the experience a delight, and much better action tracking capability. It's not a fast and responsive as my old D5, but it does what I need it to do. I do wish I had access to the old D5 batteries like I had with my D850. They were monsters with providing all day shoots from the same power source.

[0.88 lb] This is a must have for any photographer. Makes the camera so much easier to hold on to. Not to mention you have the shutter controlls at you finger tips when shooting vertical or horizontal. Glade I spent the extra money for this excellent piece of equipment.

[0.88 lb] The MB-N11 has a substantial, sturdy quality despite its relatively light weight plastics. The rubberized grip (don't know if it's actually rubber) has the same feel as the camera - secure and comfortable - and includes a shutter-release button, locking switch, main and sub-command dials, USB port for connecting or charging, and AF-ON, sub-selector, and function buttons. The unit easily and firmly locks in place, and there's a space for the camera's battery-chamber cover so you won't lose it after removing it in order to connect the grip. Nice idea.

The battery compartment easily goes in and comes out, holds two batteries, and offers hot-swappability for the battery closest to the cover end so you never have to turn the camera off as long as you have fresh batteries to swap. Especially good for video.

I think Nikon does pretty well on the price. I can't imagine it couldn't be sold for much less. But it works perfectly, works ergonomically, and should last for as long as it's cared for. Can't say the same for most third party accessories. It's a solid grip. And now that I've mostly forgotten how much it cost, it feels well worth it.

[0.88 lb] the overnight shipment was only 10 bucks more over their free shipping with the use of their credit card. The Nikon device is solidly built and works superbly attached to my Z7II. I like having 2 batteries in the storage bin and the added grip space works well in my hand. Also, having an extra function button for the mirrorless Z body is an added benefit.

[1/4"-20 Female] This grip is one of the big reasons I moved up to the Z6II. It's everything I expected - perfect fit, excellent build quality, and greatly adds to the functionality and versatility of the camera. I was originally a little worried this grip would bulk up the Z6II too much, but it feels perfect in my hands. And when I want a lighter carry - I can pop it off in a few seconds.

The only con here is Nikon's fairly high price for their grips. $395 is a lot, but I learned a while ago to avoid the third party alternatives. If you're looking for a great video review, check out Ricci Talks on YouTube - he covers this grip in great detail.

Very happy with this addition!
