Now built with 3nm process technology, the Apple M3 Pro delivers the performance you need without sacrificing power efficiency. The 11-Core CPU features five performance cores and six efficiency cores. The enhanced 16-Core Neural Engine accelerates powerful machine learning models, making AI/ML workflows even faster while keeping data on device to preserve privacy. The M3 Pro offers support for up to 36GB of unified memory.

With a 14-Core GPU, the M3 Pro features Dynamic Caching, which allocates the use of local memory in hardware in real time. Dynamic Caching only uses the exact amount of memory needed is used for each task, which dramatically increases the average utilization of the GPU, resulting in significant performance increases for the most demanding pro apps and games. Hardware-accelerated ray tracing has arrived for the Mac. Ray tracing models the properties of light as it interacts with a scene, allowing apps to create extremely realistic and physically accurate images. Additionally, the improved GPU brings hardware-accelerated mesh shading to the Mac, delivering greater capability and efficiency to geometry processing, and enabling more visually complex scenes in games and graphics-intensive apps. The M3 Pro features two video encode engines, two ProRes engines, and AV1 decode.

Featuring mini-LED technology, this MacBook Pro houses a 14.2" Liquid Retina XDR display. Delivering up to 1000 cd/m² of sustained, full-screen brightness, a high 1600 cd/m² of peak brightness, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a billion colors, the Liquid Retina XDR display can handle the extreme dynamic range of HDR content, providing detailed shadows, brilliant specular highlights, deeper blacks, and vivid colors. The display is less than 4mm thin, which is achieved by having seven films and diffusers that mix and shape the light efficiently. The oxide thin film transistor (TFT) allows pixels to charge twice as fast as before.

With ProMotion technology, the MacBook Pro automatically varies the refresh rate to match the motion of your onscreen content. [Late 2023] We finally bit the bullet and replaced our 15 2010 MacBook with this 14 M3Pro model. We were starting to get signs that the old one was heading for a fatal crash. I had upgraded the SSD to 1TB so we wanted the same capacity again as we store/manipulate lots of family photos on it. The new one is smaller, faster, lighter and has lots longer battery life--all good things. We wondered if the keyboard would be smaller but it seems to be the same size as on the 15. Today I used the SD slot for the first time to import 5000 photos from a trail camera and it absorbed them quickly and enabled me to quickly scan and delete 95% of them--a process that was very slow on both our old machines. The built-in SD slot saved me from fiddling with a balky adapter on 2019 MacBook that only has 4 USB-C ports. 5

[3] I ordered a new MacBook 14, Space Black with M3 Pro from B&H and couldn't be happier. The MacBook is blazingly fast and was only a small premium over the 15 MacBook Air I was considering. I originally had concerns with the 14 display (I run a 16 MacBook Pro/Intel for work), but the slight smaller size is perfect for portability when mobile, and when at my desk connecting it to dual monitors negates any issue with the smaller display. I'm also pleased with ordering from B&H: the order was quickly processed (arrived days before other vendors) and the price was great. I'll definitely look to B&H again for my next purchase. 5

[18 GB] It's an Apple computer, & as such, no surprises if you're familiar with the brand. Biggest difficulty is determining what level of Macbook Pro to get, as it's pretty impossible to upgrade later. I went with 36 gb of ram and 512 gb ssd. The ram was necessary for photo editing, and although the ssd is small, it's large enough to hold all the programs, and storing photos on external drives is necessary if you're taking a lot of photos. An external 2 TB ssd is less than the cost of upgrading the Apple ssd from 512 G to 1 TB. Get a firewire or usb 3 ssd and you won't notice any lag in loading. The price from B&H was better than ordering direct from Apple, Amazon, Best Buy (yeah, they've got a local store, so I checked) or any other legitimate online store. Order was delivered on time and in excellent condition. Anyway, I upgraded from a 2017 Intel iMac desktop. This is significantly faster. I haven't done any movie editing yet, so can't speak to that, but it runs Luminar Neo, ACDee, Topaz Photo AI, and the Affinity photo applications well. Get a good hub that uses minimum usb 3 and you'll need a good external monitor, as 14 is too small for serious photo editing. Hope this info helps. 5
