Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this shock mount include a shoe adapter so that I can mount my mic on top of my DSLR?

A: No, It just has a 3/8 thread unfortunately.

Q: 2. Will this accommodate a Rode NT4 stereo mic? Also, what pistol grip is recommended for this shock mount?

A: I bought mine for a Sennheiser MKH416.. don't know if it'll work with a Rode NT4.

Q: 3. Will this work with a KM185 and a BBG?

A: It might be a little stiff for that short Neumann. This mount is intended for heavier/longer mic/windscreen units. I use it for a MKH-416 with super softie on the end of a boom pole. Excellent isolation. You might want to consider one of the INV series mounts from Rycote. I use the InVision INV-HG mkIII Microphone Suspension - Lyre Shockmount for the length & weight of your Neumann.

Q: 4. Hi there, beside the obvious difference between lens mount, is there any other different between the E-mount version and PL mount version?

A: Other than the Mount the two DENZ Portable Lens Checker models are exactly the same.

Q: 5. Can this plate works with Canon 5D Mark IV?

A: Yes, this plate also works for the Canon 5D Mark IV

Q: 6. Is this too big for an Audix SCX1-HC? I want a shockmount that would accommodate the mic and possibly a BBG. Thanks in advance.

A: It should fit the Audix.

Q: 7. What is the hex (mm) size for the screw?

A: The screw is a 4mm hex.

Q: 8. Will this work with the Rode VideoMic Pro Compact shotgun?

A: I've only used it with my Sennheiser 416 Shotgun Mic, but if you find the diameter of the Rode is the same then the answer yes. This is an EXCELLENT shock mount. I wouldn't have any other.

Q: 9. will this fit the d810 also?

A: Yes

Q: 10. This 2167 or a generic cork plate 2128? I have always loved my Slik cork plates as they bake into the rubber of the camera and don't slip, ever, but I am curious if this bare metal is some way special. Thanks!

A: I purchased this base plate for my D800 and a further plate for my D4. For me these plates are a thing of engineering beauty, they fit the contours of the cameras like a glove with the curved lip preventing any slippage even with big heavy lenses like my 70-200 f2.8 VRII. The only downside (and I'm being picky here) is the alan key needed to attach the plate to the camera base. I can never find it when I need it which can sometimes prove to be APITA.

[Metal] After reading the reviews, I thought I'd finality take the plunge and purchase my first ribbon mic. I was going to buy two right off and use them for drum overheads. I bought one just in case it didn't live up to the hype. I'm buying another right away! The first take, the mic was a bit far away (on purpose) second take with the mic about 2' over the rack toms, wow! No one can believe that was recorded with one mic. Snare cracks wonderfully, you can hear the toms breathing. All it lacked was the kick's low end and bite. Can't wait to try it on vocals, upright bass, guitar, etc. The high end takes EQ beautifully just like the reviews said it would. I wish it would come with a better shock mount system. I'm going to try damping the shell to see what difference that will make. All in all, I'm very impressed for the money.

[Silver] I already bought 2 Rycote INV6HG's about 1.5 years ago, and loved them. However, when I bought 1 INVHG-mkiii recently and got to use it, I fell in love with this shock instantly! Much sturdier/beefier than my INV6HG's even are, and now I am selling my INV6HG's and buying a 2nd INVHG-mkiii ASAP lol. So if you want the best shock made, Period, just buy this first, and thank me later ;)

[Silver] If you are looking at Rycote shock mounts for small diaphragm condensers, you no doubt have seen there are a lot of options. This one is a little heavier weight than the INV-6 but it is also more robust and quite stable AND is easier to click your mic into place.

I have both the INV-6 shock mounts and the INV-HG. I like them both for different tasks and for different microphones. The INV-6 is great for short form mic bodies, like the Sennheiser MKH8040. The INV-HG is better suited for SDC (small diaphragm condenser) bodies that are a little longer, like the Gefell M300 or Schoeps Collette bodies. You can still use the INV-6 with the longer mic bodies, but boy, does it feel like you are going to tear the shock mounts apart when loading a larger mic body into the INV-6! Not so with the INV-HG—-the longer, secure mounting section where the mic drops into is sturdy and a bit easier to work with.

The INV-HG also works well for longer SDC bodies, like the Sennheiser MKH8060 with a slide-on wind screen —- it works exactly as you would hope. And then you can use the same set up to quickly pop out the shotgun mic and drop in something like the MKH8050 for an interior interview quickly without a big fuss messing with a zeppelin.

This strong, solid shock mount is a great solution for a wide variety of small diaphragm condenser microphones from a variety of brands. It travels well and is suitable for indoor and outdoor microphone duties. It is a good choice for many situations.

[Metal] When I first purchased the Rycote Universal Shotgun Mount for Cameras and Boom Poles and read the negative reviews, I immediately purchased this Rycote InVision INV-HG mkIII Microphone Suspension - Lyre Shockmount as my backup. Comparing these two side by side, they both seem well made. The actual mic holder on both are identical so I don't see any issues with that. Both mounts seem as if they will hold up well as long as you don't overtighten them.

[Silver] Perfect for securing my Sennheiser MKH-416. Eliminates rumble and other vibration noises, holds the microphone firmly, right where I want it. Exactly what I needed.

[Metal] Saw this in Africa recently on a BBC truck on the same Canon CN20x50 Cine Lens. Mine at home did not have the handle that is made in Germany. So I called the company and they said I could get it at B&H. Wow not really a surprise since B&H has everything! Anyway this handle is a quality piece of gear for the lens. Screws are included along with simple instructions. Makes the lens much easier and, more importantly, safer to handle. Like I said, a must!

[Metal] Totally blown away by this microphone.
Congratulations to the folk who made it and sell it at this price.
I have microphones worth up to about $3500 purchased from hard graft over the years. While I have used this only on Classical guitar so far I can see that this is the only mic I will use as a main mic for my acoustic guitars.

[Metal] I am a professional opera singer, and I want to capture my bass-baritone voice in a small space without it sounding too crisp and treble heavy. This mic captures my full spectrum with a nice warm natural quality. I'm improving my placement and studio space so I can add reverb to simulate the large halls that are best for operatic voices. The mic is very sensitive and picks up well at 12-18 away without much room noise. It sounds like me when I'm listening. It's connected to a Tascam DR44w recorder with 48v. The build quality is very nice, but I am always gentle with it and mindful of storing it upright because of the fragile ribbon.
