Turn your modular system into a self-contained music machine with the Tiptop Audio SD808, a Eurorack module featuring the original 808 analog snare drum circuit. Adapting the circuit to the modular format has allowed for added special features like independent accent level, a high-powered gain stage, an input pulse-shaper, and an adjustable noise source, all without compromising the signature sound of the TR-808 snare drum.

The SD808 sounds tight and extremely snappy because you can control the VCA envelope amplitude. The sound is made with three analog sound generators mixed together: two oscillating sine waves and a noise source. The SD808's front panel controls have a lot of sweet spots, with sounds that are not just limited to snare drum sounds. It can also create other electronic percussive elements. The module ships with a ribbon power cable.

  • Original TR-808 analog snare drum circuit adapted for use in Eurorack modular synthesizer format
  • Designed to sound like a fresh out-of-the-box '80s TR-808 snare
  • Independent accent levels
  • High-powered gain stage
  • Dual input pulse-shaper
  • Adjustable noise source
  • SD808 is not just limited to snare drum sounds; it can also create other electronic percussive elements

The noise source generator in the original TR-808 machines were revised in later production batches, resulting in variations in sound across the production run. The SD808 used this later, revised circuit to create a snare drum hit that is slightly darker, has more body, and is more realistic.

  • Like other drums in this series, the SD808 includes a high-powered output gain stage capable of producing signals up to 20 V p-p, allowing you to get an array of harmonized snare drums sounds with even tighter attacks.
  • On the inputs, Tiptop Audio designed an input pulse-shaper circuit, so you can trigger the SD808 with trigger/gate signals from your own step sequencer, clock dividers, or any other pulse/clock sources. This eliminates the need to shape pulses sent to the module, and ensures the same stable sound at peak power, regardless of your pulse source.
  • All these unique features make integrating this legendary sound generator into your modular synth easy, unleashing the power of real analog drums.

  • 4 HP Eurorack format module
  • Maximum depth: 0.6" (14mm)
  • Includes power ribbon cable with Eurorack power headers
  • Power consumption: +12V: 18mA, -12V: 16mA

Q: 1. How wide is the IR beam? If someone could tell me how many degrees wide it is or just a good guess that would be great. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!James B.Thanks!

A: The beam width from the transmitter varies depending on the power setting and the distance to the receiver. For example, if the distance to the receiver is about 20 feet and the transmitter power is at high, the angle of width is about 30 degrees. Closer it is wider. On the low setting, it is about 10 degrees or less. Aiming it is not an issue. As for breaking the beam, it is a very narrow zone like less than 1 degree in each direction. Basically, the subject has to break line of sight between the transmitter and receiver.

Q: 2. Can someone please explain, in simple but clear terms, what all is needed to use this thing? I've read most of the manual and the words optional - available separately keep coming up. The same words are scattered throughout the description. I have a Nikon D7100 and it appears that a cable is necessary somehow to use this. But evidently it isn't included. Or, maybe it is based on one of the reviews. And to use it with a laser you have to buy a laser separately. How and where do you buy a laser ?Please respond in a simple manner as I have trouble envisioning what all is needed.Thank you.

A: for wired configuration the pro module connects to your camera using a P1 cable.HL-CAPCORD N this is a set of cables for all nikon cameras, the cables are available from other manufacturers as well. No a microhone is built into the pro module.https://a href= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iODHFbDLzo target= _blank www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iODHFbDLzo/a this youtube video shows real world examples of the triggering methods of the pro module.for IR the small module throws out a wide ir beam that is pointed at the pro module. whenever something crosses the beam i.e. (animal or person who walks past your desk), the trigger will fire and capture the image. i have used the captur pro module personally for all but the laser pointer function and have had a blast,(especially july 4th!) never have i gotten better fireworks shots.

Q: 3. For sound triggering, can you adjust the sensitivity of this device? Also, can you set it to delay the shutter release after it detects the sound? If so, for how long and what increments? Thanks.

A: I have only used the Captur Pro once while target shooting so far but I intend to do so more often. I had some confusion about the sensitivity but that was more not reading the directions carefully first. The lower the number the less sensitive the unit will be and I needed to make sensitivity number very low to react only to the sound of discharge and not wind noise (it happened to be a very windy day and it took a while to get the right setting to compensate for wind moving over the unit). I don't remember exactly the delay setting I used but it was around one or two milliseconds. You will have to play with the timing. The movement of the slide mechanism is very fast but I was able to capture images of spent cartridges being discharged from the pistol. As a side note I also use the unit as a remote for my Canon 60D. The button between the Lock and the Start/Stop buttons is the remote trigger. Hold halfway and it focuses, press all the way down and activates the shutter. Also, as a bonus it works with my old Canon 20D. You have to order the cords separately but they are not very expensive. The other option is to order the remote controllers but I decided not to do that just yet. Hope this helps.

Q: 4. What is the overall length of this plate?Does it come in different lengths?

A: The overall length of the Wimberly Module 8 M-8 is 3 and inches. It does not currently come in different lengths.

Q: 5. Do these work with the new DigiBee from Paul C Buff?

A: Incase you haven't gotten an answer or others looking for a straight answer. No they do not work with DigiBees. I tried it personally myself with no luck.

Q: 6. Can this be used for a manual slide or do I need to remove it and replace it with the steady module? I'm hoping that this provides similar resistance to the slide as the steady module does so I don't have to purchase both.

A: This is not a good solution for manual slides. We do not recommend it.

Q: 7. Will it work with the Pentax K-1?

A: No, it will not work with the Pentax K-1. The system is compatible for use with Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Olympus/Panasonic cameras.

Q: 8. Compatible with Fujifilm HS-20 EXR?

A: Yes

Q: 9. I bought the Lazer but how would it turn on?

A: The Laser Module is to be used with the HeadPlus (Pro) models, in which it will slide and magneticallt mount to the head below where the camera is mounted. A "Link" cable is provided that will connect the laser to the HeadPlus unit. Then using the HeadPlus App on a smartphone, you can access the lasers, and use it as needed.

Q: 10. It says the Captur system is available separately. My wife bought me the Captur Module Pro for Christmas, but we can't find the Captur System. I have a Sony a7rII. What am I missing?

A: HL CAPTUR S

[Eurorack Module] You just can't beat the value of this case for the gigging drummer. I own over a dozen of these SKB drum cases and have yet to tear one up. My bass player ran over one and drug it several feet before he realized something was wrong. It did not hurt my snare ...repeat there was no internal damage to this drum! I highly recommend SKB products and limited life time warranty. Running over it with the Band Bus doesn't count guys!

[Eurorack Power] 100% improvement with much better triggering and sensitivity than using an acoustic snare with a mesh head and trigger on my HiBrid kit.

[0.205 lb] This drum pad is exactly what I was looking for. I knew it wasn’t capable of programming different kits but wanted it for extra sounds to add to my acoustic drum kit. I played it with a choir for a song and people really liked the sound being played through a small powered speaker. Had the ride, tom, snare and kick setup and it really went well with the song. I haven’t noticed any cross talk but if the drum stick is too close to parallel you can hit two pads at the same time with the tip and shaft of the the drum stick. Great for practice with headphones. My nephew had a blast playing the cowbell and other tones while his dad and I jammed. Might need to get him one for Christmas. The adjustability with tuning and reverb gives more options to try to match pitch and ambiance. The sensitivity setting works but is not fabulous. Have not tried hooking it up to my computer yet but imagine it would work well. I would recommend this for someone looking for something to practice on or just play around with. I sawed the top off of a cheap music stand that I got for free and the mount plate slides over it perfectly with just a little bit of duct tape so it holds firm. Can’t angle it but I can adjust the height. For the price this drum pad is totally worth it. If you are more serious about performing live you’ll probably want something more versatile but this works perfect as it is intended.

[4 HP] Doing phone remotes is pretty nice when you run them through the Broadcast Host, but the GuestModule1 makes them so much easier. No need to deal with a handset and then puch up the call on the Broadcast Host. Go off hook, dial, and release the call, all from the GuestModule1.

[Eurorack Module] I got this 10 years ago for a documentary shoot. They have never failed in any way. Does not have on indicator light but I always change/recharge batteries end of day. Not a single problem all this time and excellent quality.

[4 HP] I have been using this as a source for automated modulations and a sweeping sweet-spot finder in my patches, overall it frees up some sends for me and I find cool sounds faster
