Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I am considering a 120 macro for floral and close-up photography. I'm wondering if the 110 plus the 45 G WR extension tube would give me good floral/macro PLUS portraiture. I admittedly don't do many portraits, but would this idea give me a good two-for-one over just the 120 macro? I don't recall seeing photos of the 110 with macro-tube extension.

A: While you would not need an extension tube for portraiture photography, you may use the Fujifilm GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR Lens for portraiture, and you may add the use of the FUJIFILM MCEX-45G WR Macro Extension Tube so you may use the Fujifilm GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR Lens for close-up macro photography usage needs. The focal length would be slightly shorter than using the 120mm lens, but it would still be a good combination if you prefer the wider 110mm focal length for your portraiture usage needs. I think you'll be happy with the combination.

Q: 2. Is the build quality on this lens as good as other GF lenses?

A: Yes, the build quality on the FUJIFILM GF 35-70mm f/4.5-5.6 WR Lens would be as good as other Fujifilm GF Lenses.

Q: 3. Are the tilt & shift function parallel or perpendicular to each other? Is is possible to change this easily?

A: The tilt and shift controls on the FUJIFILM GF 30mm f/5.6 T/S Lens can be positioned next to each other or at 90 degrees from each other.

Q: 4. How to calculate MF DOF for crop and FF MF?

A: I suggest forgetting the word crop and crop factor. Please just go by what size your imager is, film or digital. On line you can find DOF calculators. Here is a good one. https://bit.ly/2AhsdN9Enter the sensor size, the lens mm, the aperture and the focus distance and you will have your Depth of Field. As a motion picture camera assistant, I calculated DOF dozens of times a production day. If I can do it, so can you.

Q: 5. Does this lens function properly with the GFX50R? There has not been a firmware update for the 50R but there has been for others

A: Yes, the FUJIFILM GF 30mm f/5.6 T/S Lens (FUJIFILM G) is compatible with the FUJIFILM GFX 50R Medium Format Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 6. Just received the lens. Straight out of the box, while not attached to the camera, the elements within the lens clunk back and for the when tilting the lens from end to end. Is this happening with all of your lenses as well? It’s as if the glass isn’t secured inside the lens and is free floating down the focal length.

A: Yes, that is a normal occurrence with this and other lenses.

Q: 7. Is it normal for there to be a clunking sound inside the barrel when lens is inverted and then returned? Thx

A: Yes it is normal.

Q: 8. Can I use my filter system 100x150 mm Hilda? Is it internalisera focus?

A: Yes you can use a filter holder on the FUJIFILM GF 35-70mm f/4.5-5.6 WR Lens. You just need to have a holder lens adapter or step up adapter that works with the lens's 62mm filter thread.

Q: 9. Do you know what the diameter of the lens hood is?

A: The FUJIFILM Lens Hood for GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR Lens has a front diameter of 4 and 1/8" (107.4 mm).

Q: 10. Is there an adapter available to use this lens on a Hasselblad digital camera?

A: No, unfortunately there aren't any adapters in this point of time (February 2024) that will allow Hasselblad cameras to use Fuji GF lenses.

[4.31 lb] This lens is one of the reasons I purchased a GFX 50S originally and now use it on a GFX 50R. I can't say I have ever shot with a sharper lens or one with better bokeh. It is large and somewhat heavy but for the work I do that is not really an issue. The build quality is outstanding with all metal construction and engraved markings. Top notch. With this focal length and the large sensor you can achieve subject separation even at moderate distances. In terms of its field of view, similar to an 85mm lens in the full frame world, it is highly versatile. I've shot with the the Nikkor 105mm f/1.4 and Sony 135mm f/1.8 GM lenses and both of them are truly outstanding but for the work I do they tend to be too long in many cases.

Focus is reasonably fast and quiet. There is some noise but not much. Far quieter and more refined than the excellent GF 63mm f/2.8 which I also own. As far as I am concerned this is the best lens I have ever owned in this field of view range.

[4.31 lb] The Fujifilm GF 110/2 is the best lens among GF line. It is very sharp even when wide open. Bokeh is great. With LM motor the focusing is fast and silent. The size of the lens is a little bit bulky but well balanced on my GFX 50R body. The lens is well made. It is not cheap but worthy it.

[72 mm (Front)] Incredible sharpness, color rendition and contrast. A great lens for the GFX 100 line of camera bodies.

[FUJIFILM G] Tons of people have reviewed this lens for quality, and I can confirm it is *the* portrait lens you should have in your arsenal if you shoot with Fuji GFX cameras. As some customers have reported, there is a weird clunking noise with something that obviously moves around when the lens is inverted end to end and the lens is not attached to a camera that is concerning, but this does not seem to affect functionality.

[Manual Focus] I shot Canon for years including the legendary 85mm 1.2 lens that produced creamy bokeh. Well I love this lens even more! Razor sharp and a depth of field that’s more usable than the 1.2 was in a lot of situations. I will never sell this lens! I’d upload a photo but a10mp file doesn’t do this lens justice. Just buy and be amazed.

[1:2] GF 110 has excellent optics both wide open for portraits and stopped down for more DOF in architecture and landscape at this focal length. From my practical experience with fast short telephoto lenses, this one is flawless. GFX 100 makes a great partnership where the camera supplies IBIS with fast focus speed and the lens can easily take advantage of full resolution. Any fast lens will compel you to improve your focus technique and control of light, and this lens is no different. Absolutely stunning when you nail it.

[4.31 lb] In my very humble opinion, if you do not have this lens in your kit, you're not getting everything you can out of the GFX.

[0.5x] I've been shooting professionally for over 15 years now, and in spite of it's lofty price point, I've never worked with a finer lens in all my years of shooting portraits. Brilliantly tack sharp in the center of the frame, beautiful bokeh, awesome subject isolation, fantastic weather sealed build quality, etc. It's sublime! The only real downside is AF speed an accuracy, not a huge deal in static subjects like portraits, but I would not want to use this lens in a pressure situation. This is an issue with medium format cameras in general. But in terms of pure results, I've never worked with a better lens.

[FUJIFILM G] Xlnt at F2 and superb sharpness and contrast at f2.8-f11.

Wonderful color and clarity. Xlnt bokeh.

AF is very speedy for medium format - significantly-hugely better than the 80/1.7 and 63/2.8.
