Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology, or ToP-ART, is Yamaha's design concept that combines both internal circuitry and physical features to maintain audio integrity and give you the clearest, high-resolution entertainment possible. Circuitry, such as the ESS SABRE ES9080Q 384 kHz 32-bit DAC and the dedicated crystal clock, for an accurate USB DAC with DSD 11.2 MHz native and PCM 384 kHz playback. Physical attributes include a resin Art Base double-bottom chassis with a 0.04" iron damping plate and anti-resonance feet to virtually eliminate vibration.

Yamaha's YPAO R.S.C. (Reflected Sound Control) is a sound field correction technology that uses precision 192 kHz, 64-bit EQ adjustments to automatically optimize sound based on the material of your room's walls and the placement of your speakers. The result is lifelike and accurate music with proper placement of the artist and instruments, making you feel as if you're in the room with them.

This mode is designed to virtually eliminate signal degradation by having music signals bypass the buffer amp, and tone / loudness / balance controls, taking the shortest route possible to your speakers.

MusicCast can use either the Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet connection to conveniently stream audio from popular online services, such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora, TIDAL, SiriusXM, and more. It also gives you direct access to your local network's library of digital music files. Additionally, you can stream directly from an Android or iOS mobile device with Bluetooth and AirPlay support.

  • 100W per channel output at 8 ohms
  • Thick ground wires with screw helps eliminate energy loss and signal degradation
  • Rear USB-B port for playback from a laptop or external storage device
  • Stream audio to other MusicCast devices for whole-home audio
  • Front headphone port
  • Built-in AM/FM radio
  • Gold-plated speaker terminals

[AM, FM] I've been streaming deezer and playing records and love the sound, especially paired with the subwoofer Yamaha NS-SW100 10. The musiccast app is easy to use, better than bluetooth streaming.

[AAC, SBC] This unit is replacing a 7 year old Pioneer that failed. Set up of these units always takes a little longer than expected because of the configuration options available, but once I got it going it's great. The sound quality is superb, as you would expect. What differentiates these units for me these days is the added features and connectivity. I love that I can stream Spotify direct to the unit and control by zone. I have WiFi control of the unit with dual zones, and can also stream direct via Bluetooth from my phone if needed. My WiFi coverage in my house is excellent, but range is better than expected for Bluetooth. Since all my devices are now newer, I can control them through HDMI using my TV remote. My equipment is hidden in a closet, but if you have to keep this one visible, it really is sleek and looks great.

[2.1] I've had this receiver on my wish list for a year, and it was worth the wait. I have so many features yet to experiment with, but what is has done for my system so far is amazing. YPAO sound optimization did a great job for initial room setup, getting me to a good starting point to enjoy the sound quickly out of the box. This receiver replaced my RX-V665, but now I can switch all of my 4k HDMI devices the right way. I have been enjoying my vinyl more in the last few years, so having the built-in phono pre-amp is a bonus. There is nothing like the sound of vinyl records with Pure Direct! They sound the same as my first Yamaha CA-1010 receiver from the 70's! Now I'm looking forward to adding front presence speakers to experience Atmos sound.

[2.1] This is an excellent AVR for the money. Excellent sound quality and adequate power for a medium sized room - unless you are a crazy enthusiastic gamer.... The Yamaha-styled software support may not be to everyone's liking or as universally user friendly as some others. Also this unit does not appear to be controllable with the Yamaha AV controller app, so that if you I wish it had a signal out feature to support biamping.

[2.1] Installed a couple weeks ago and spent sole time with this beast. Paired with Klipsch Heresy IV the imaging is outstanding, as if it’s impossible to tell where the speakers even are. YPAO does a great job of equalizing for the room, and the loudness level is a welcome throwback especially for nighttime listening. ARC works as expected too.

[AAC, SBC] Purchased to replaced the NR1200 with no regrets. Great quality and look nice compared to the outdated rounded front of older Marantz units. New remote and OS is also a plus.
Good power, drives SVS Pinnacles with out any issues
