Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What size should I get for Canon 70-200?

A: If you go to Daystar website or call them on the phone, I think that is where I read that if you have the 77MM pro lens, meaning it is 77MM in diameter then get the 65 - 89 Solar filter. I have the 70-200 F2.8 non IS lens. I did not put it on yet.

Q: 2. Will this work on an Irix 15mm Blackstone?

A: The Irix 15mm Blackstone appears to have a 95mm filter thread, so yes I don't see why it would not work..

Q: 3. What is the difference between this product and a Neutral Density 5.4 Solar Eclipse Filter besides the price?

A: The difference is safety and your vision! The solar filter is ISO 12312-2 Compliant. The neutral density filter is NOT. Read the ISO Warning on the product. ISO 12312-2 Compliant Warning: Viewing the Sun without proper protection can cause permanent eye damage, blindness, and equipment damage. Always use an approved ISO 12312-2 certified solar filter when observing the Sun through optics or cameras. Never use photographic neutral density filters for direct solar viewing, viewing the sun through an optic, or when using cameras with an optical viewfinder. Ensure the solar filter is ISO 12312-2 Compliant. And buy from a reputable source like B&H. Many of the answers to this question are inaccurate and dangerous. I have flagged those answers to B&H so hopefully those answers have already been removed. When you are looking at the sun either directly or through optics, get your answers from experts in the field.

Q: 4. would this filter fit on a Sony SEL1670Z 16-70mm f/4?

A: I agree with Nathan, the 65-89mm filter would be too big unless you wrapped something around the lens first. The Day Star 50mm sounds perfect for your lens. The B&H site is now showing the larger filter as discontinued at this time anyway.

Q: 5. Can I use this to take practice photos of the sun for the upcoming solar eclipse?

A: Yes, you can use the DayStar Filters 70mm White-Light Universal Lens Solar Filter can be used to take practice photos of the sun, to get ready for photographing the upcoming solar eclipse. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/photography/tips-and-solutions/how-to-photograph-a-solar-eclipse

Q: 6. If using 67 mm lens which one is better to use 65-89, or 50-69?

A: My selection would be for the smaller, DayStar Filters 50mm White-Light Universal Lens Solar Filter (Single, 50-69mm OD) BH #DAULF50 • MFR #ULF50

Q: 7. Will this adapter work with the Sony G-series 28-135mm cinezoom lens that has 95mm diameter? Any specific reason why not? And can anyone comment on vignetting? Lastly, what other components are needed for the setup (other than the filters)? Thanks.

A: Yes, the lens adapter will work on the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens B&H # SO281354 MFR # SELP28135G. The adapter is for lenses that have a 95mm filter thread.

Q: 8. Why do you need the filter if you are wearing proper safety glasses?

A: You need the filter to protect your camera's sensor before and after totality. You should remove it during totality. Also, use the camera's display screen and not the viewfinder to protect your eyes.

Q: 9. Will this work on a Sigma Cine 14mm Prime lens? Or for any sigma 95mm lens front

A: The Sigma 14mm prime has a 95mm diameter front but does not have 95mm threads, it will not work on the Sigma 14mm Cine. This adapter will work on a lens that has 95mm front filter threads.

Q: 10. What is the thread pitch of this adapter? M95x0.75? M95x1? M95x1.5?

A: The LEE Filters SW150 Mark II Lens Adapter for Lenses with 95mm Filter Threads has a .1mm thread pitch.

[Aluminum] So easy to change the filter when changing lenses. And the cimage produced is very nice. Very little color shift. And there are hard stops for the ND which is great. The Black mist makes a more filmic image and the CPL helps with skies and also reflections.

[Glass] This is a fun way to add some colorful creative effects to your instant photography. The look can range from subtle to very pronounced depending on your subject and which filter you use from this pack. I say if you like the samples shown on the product package, you'll probably have a lot of fun with this. Included are two photos I made, one with the Austin filter and one with the Northern Lights filter.

[Aluminum] This is a LARGE case for LARGE filters. Clever design, where the internal pockets are like an accordion, so you can stuff a few pockets with very thick items, or many with less thick items - the overall width is controlled by the size of the case itself regardless of how you distribute it internally. It is too bulky for me to carry around, but it's my main repository case from which I pick what I pack into smaller, carry cases.

[Aluminum] Great. Performs as advertised. Holds the number of filters specified with ease for the most part, depending on filter size and whether you maintain your filters in the original case, which I tend to do. Doing so can then result in a rather snug fit.

[Glass] I purchased the Evo 95mm to use with my Sigma 150-600mm. I make it a point to purchase a circular polarizer filter for all of my lenses, and I am not disappointed. I great value, nice and thin, and screws directly on the Sigma lens. I have been able to shoot handheld and have not notice any problem with light or color issues.

[Aluminum] Just what I needed to hold my filters.

[95 mm] This works really well. It's well built out of aluminum, the rotating CPL works nicely and doesn't vignette with my Sony 16-35 f2.8 GM, and the holder holds onto my camera with a vice grip. The only complaint is that the magnetic filter frames feel slightly too flimsy and take a few minutes to put together, but they do the job and I suspect will be fine. The magnets attach the filters to the frame with the right amount of strength and I'm pretty confident they won't fall off or anything.

Great product!

[95 mm] Was looking to upgrade my cheap polarizer and I got more than I bargained for, this holder is super sturdy and adaptable. The polarizer filter is quality glass and the thread is strong on the ring
