You'll get a good look at distant targets or points of interest with the Simmons 8x42 Pro Hunter Binoculars. Featuring a slim roof prism, this optic boasts rubber armoring with textured grip zones, fully antireflective coated lenses, and a generous 340' field of view at 1000 yards. The 8x magnification makes the Hunter Pro easier to hold steady than higher-powered binoculars and the 42mm objective lenses admit ample light for a bright view even early and late in the day. Nitrogen purging prevents internal fogging from condensation. Occasional rain isn't a cause for concern—the binoculars carry an IPX7 water resistance rating.

[5.25 mm] I've been using a pair of Swarovski CL 8x21 binos for about 8 years and have to keep sending them in for repair. I decided to go with a larger pair of binos that might prove to be sturdier in the field. I just returned from a four-day wilderness trip and used the Nikon binos for wildlife and bird viewing on land and by small boat. They have consistently clear, bright viewing. It is easy to locate hard-to-see targets. The build of the binos seems sturdy without being heavy. They immediately became my favorite piece of equipment on this trip and I can see using them for many years to come. Not sure what I will do with my Swarovski binos after they come back from repair.

[5.25 mm] I had many other good brands binoculars, but I longed to acquire a pair of good Swarovski for bird watching. Years ago, when observing birds in Costa Rica a bird watcher lent me one of this brand, I was surprised for the brightness of the image that came through. Now I am enjoying my own. Very satusfied.

[5.25 mm] After doing a lot of research and narrowing it down to three models: Zeiss Conquest, Vortex Razor and this one, I know I made the correct choice - Amazing optics, excellent construction and lightweight. The only negative? The case is terrible. Knowing this before purchasing, I added a Zeiss bag and Vortex harness.

[42 mm] I never tried Zeiss or Leica. I bought Nikon (not its top line) but returned. This NLP is really good, good ergonomic design, very bright, wide view, and good color rendition.

[8x] Beautiful, precision, high image quality. A little heavier than expected -- but, worth it for the brighter image at 42mm.

[42 mm] If you want general purpose binoculars to enjoy landscapes, wildlife, cityscapes, or most anything else, you'd need the widest field of view with moderate magnification and low shaking, edge to edge sharpness with no distortions, flat field, great colors, brightness, and contrast, lightweight with superb ergonomics, big exit pupil, and sufficient eye relief for spectacles wearers. And then you learn that there is only one model in existence with all these qualities, Swarovski 8x42 NL Pure. Nothing else even comes close.
