Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Most telescope mounts rate the load to include the expected counterweights (without showing the additional mass in the load rating). Since this mount is also for camera/lens, does its rated load the absolute max? This is significant because the moment arm on the counterweight needs to be equivalent to the moment arm of the scope and accessories, and that can double the final load.

A: I bought this item for deep sky astrophotography. It is rated for 11 pounds, but for photography this is not realistic. With a wide angle lens on a light load it works very well. For heavier lenses it is very poor. I had 8 pounds with 300mm focal length, perfect alignment and excellent balance, and it in unable to consistently produce pinpoint stars at exposures over 10 seconds. At 30 seconds to a minute the keeper rate drops to 30% with pinpoint stars in only about 10% of images. I would not recommend this unit for photography. For a telescope and viewing it might be sufficient, but not if you want to do any exposure with long/heavy scopes or lenses. Hope this helps.

Q: 2. what's in the box - is it everything except the tripod? does it include the counterweight kit too?

A: Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi Head Kit (Head Only) BH #SKSAGTIHK • MFR #S20590 Counterweight (2.5kg - 5.5 pounds) . Counterweight collar . Counterweight shaft . Counterweight safety screw Azimuth screws . Dovetail locking screw . Polar scope cap

Q: 3. Does this item ship to UK with no tax fee's ? Also do I need to buy the Equatorial Wedge Base for taking astro photos with my DSLR's photo tripod ? or do I need any other accessory for DSLR astro photography? Than you.

A: Can't help on UK taxes. You can use a regular tripod, but you need to point the axis of the mount at Polaris, which may be harder without the wedge. The wedge has a knobbed gear wheel for the elevation. You may also need a ball head to pint your camera at what you want to track. If so, get one with at least a 46mm head.

Q: 4. What else do I need to buy to be able to do Ap with long exposures? 5 min

A: People mentioned a ball head. I don't have one and wish I did with this tracker. Also, for aligning with Polaris, being able to keep my tripod stationary and spin the tracker on top would make it SO much easier to align. These are my two suggestions. Get the wedge too, that's a must.

Q: 5. Which plate will my Sony Alpha A7RIV or A7RV require to adapt to dovetail?

A: The original Star Adventurer and 2i included the "Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Ball Head Adapter", which worked with any DSLR or mirrorless camera: bhphotovideo .com /c/product/1092110-REG/ I have a Tamron 150-600mm lens with arca-swiss compatible grooves, if it doesn't work when I get this tracker, I'll tell you, I guess you have to get a Vixen type (V-type) dovetail plate to DSLR.

Q: 6. What is the difference between Celestron 2 inch diagonal 93573 vs 93527?

A: The Celestron 90° Dielectric Star Diagonal with Twist-Lock (2") BH #CEDSDTL2 • MFR #93573 has a twist lock and also comes with a 1.25" adapter.

Q: 7. Does the Peak Design standard plate fit the K&F?

A: Yes, the Peak Design PL-S-3 Standard Plate is compatible with the K&F Concept 3-Way Geared Tripod Head.

Q: 8. Does the 12 lb. head weight include the 5 lb. counterweight?

A: The 12 lb. weight of the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi Head Kit (Head Only) BH #SKSAGTIHK • MFR #S20590 does not include the counter weights.

Q: 9. Can the filter be used with a step down/up ring for a 72mm lens size?

A: B+W High-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter (77mm) BH #BWCPHTM77 can be used with 72-77mm Step-Up Ring for a 72mm lens size.

Q: 10. Can this unit be used with film cameras?

A: Yes, really no different than a digital camera but if you have them I'd recommend staying within parameters established for a like focal length and ASA/ISO value just for ballpark exposure.

[0.135 lb] I recently purchased the K&F Concept 1/4 Black Mist Filter from B&H, and it has quickly become one of my favorite photography accessories. This filter adds a touch of enchantment to my shots, softening highlights and infusing them with a subtle misty quality. It strikes the perfect balance at 1/4 strength, preserving critical details while creating a dreamy atmosphere. B&H's seamless shopping experience and prompt delivery made the purchase a breeze. I'm thoroughly impressed with both the product and B&H's exceptional service. The K&F 1/4 Black Mist Filter has unlocked a new dimension of creativity in my photography, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

[0.135 lb] The VND itself looks very good. No ugly X over the image. The game changers for me are the hard stops on the variable ring and the magnetic mount. I got rid of my tiffen immediately.

[0.135 lb] I purchased a Nikon 500mm f5.6 and this filter to protect it. This filter does not interfere with the lens hood and the lens cap snaps into it fine. I liked the high light transmissiveness for the price.

[0.135 lb] I didn't notice any light leaks, color cast, vignetting or an x-effect.

These K&F filters have a hard stop at both ends whereas some of their other variable ND filters spin freely.

Overall a really great value. Perfect for video!

[0.135 lb] Bought specifically to use with my GF lenses for the Fuji GFX 50r. Truly does give a more filmic look right to the RAW files. Great for back light and creating natural lens flare. Skin texture is lovely as well.

[0.135 lb] A filter like this is a MUST HAVE if you want to level up how your images (for photography and video) look in broad, intense daylight in one fell swoop.

They reduce the overall amount of light coming in the camera so you can stop down for a beautiful optically blurred out background and heavily reduce intense sunlight reflections, virtually adding dynamic range in daylight. I knew this would help my shots but my jaw dropped when a got the footage back from testing locations for a project, with and without. (attached photos are screen grabs of video. Shot on Sony A74, Sigma 24-70 f2.8) *Note: This is my first ND filter and first polarizer.

My testing has found a slight cyan cast in the area where sunlight can hit the lens where shadows can be seen, it looks almost dreamy and I kind of like it, but not perfectly color preserving. With Nano-X Pro, I have not encountered any dark X pattern no mater how I adjusted it, which is far better than most Variable ND + Circular Polarizer filters on the market. The included pouch is made of materials that feel great in the hand and its pull tab that makes the filter rise out of the pouch is a very nice touch that makes me wish K&F Concept included this pouch with more filters and also sold separately. I want other filters in these things! (Wile they do sell other pouches. They do not sell the ones included with these filters.)

If you are on the fence and don't have a ND or polarizer, just get it. It took a while for Polar Pro to finally release something like this, and the price of this one STILL undercuts it. If you are a videographer/photographer, image quality is super important and this is a fantastic tool to help you properly expose your shots. There is a reason why Directors of Photography have built in ND filters on their wish list for their cinema cameras and this is why, it makes their job so much easier and allows them to focus on building the look that they want.
