Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This holder fits the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Lens and the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM Lens? I would need both adapter rings right? a 72mm and a 77mm.

A: yes, you will need the holder and separate adapter rings

Q: 2. Do Nisi filters work with this adapter?

A: Yes, Nisi filters will fit in the Lee holder.

Q: 3. Does it come with extra guides to add two filters or do you have to purchase more?

A: Unfortunately it does not. can only hold one filter

Q: 4. I am parallely using cannon 16-35 and 17-40. will it work with these cannon lenses ?

A: Yes, it will work with a Canon 16-35 and 17-40. You just need to make sure that you purchase the correct adapter ring. The 17-40 requires a 77 mm adapter ring and the 16-35 f/2.8 II requires an 82 mm adapter ring and the 16-35 mm f/4 requires a 77 mm adapter ring.

Q: 5. What is the largest lens diameter this filter holder can hold?

A: The largest lens diameter is 112mm, which the adapter ring can be found at the following link: http://bhpho.to/1qnBILj

Q: 6. If I get this kit and a 77mm adapter can I use a polarizing filter as well as ND filter like the little stopper ? which polarizing filter would work? Does it matter if you use the wide angle 77mm adaptor? I have a Canon 24-105mm lens and a Canon 300mm prime.

A: You need the 105mm Polarizing Lee Filter .... and both the ND Filter and the 105mm Polarizing Lee Filter can be used simultaneously with the Foundation Kit (and the Wide Angle 77mm adapter that fit with your lens opening). I got the answer from my friend Maurice who experimented the kit more than me.

Q: 7. Will this adapter work with the 100mm Format Hitech filters?

A: I believe the adapter will work with any 100mm filter as long as the filter is made of rigid material and not a thin film.

Q: 8. Can this match with LEE Filters Adapter Ring for Canon 17mm TS-E Lens and LEE Filters Adapter Ring - 82mm - for Wide Angle Lenses ?

A: The Canon 17mm T/S lens does not accept filter rings and its front lens element protrudes so far past the lens barrel it's not likely to let you mount any filter without vignetting. You can get more information about what Lee filters fit which lenses using their lens matching utility at their website. This message system will not allow me to provide the actual address, but they call it their system match utility and you can find it by appending /index.php/camera/system-match to their basic web address (without the quotes, of course).

Q: 9. Can one stack the system on a circular filter attached to your lens without vignetting?

A: Well, yes and no. On my Canon 16-35, I experienced vignetting at 16mm. But none at 18mm and beyond.. On my Zeiss Milvus 21 mm No vignetting noticed. So for me not such a big deal. But what is a major issue, and I believe Lee has recognized this by producing a lens hood of sorts is the terrible flare and reflections when the sun is overhead. In this type of light, the filter kit is unusable. So if you do decide to purchase the filter kit and landscape polarizer and adapter ring definitely also purchase the lens hood or filter cover or whatever it is. Cause you are gonna need it. For Sure.

Q: 10. Can I use this with a circular filter (polarizer) already attached to the lens?

A: If your polarizer has front filter threads and you get the proper Lee adapter ring, then yes it will work. Keep in mind you may get vignetting (darkening of the edges) if it is a wide angle lens.

[0.165 lb] Another ND filter in my tool kit. Different brands can produce somewhat different effects. Some people like it, other's don't. I prefer to look at it as another option when making my picture. It is nice to have options. Optical quality is awesome, and that is what matters.

[0.165 lb] This is the best ND I could find. I was concerned about color slight color shifts & skin tones but so far it has not been an issue.

[0.165 lb] You get what you pay for when it comes to filters, but you also don't have to pay $200+ for the big names. This thing has basically no color cast, adds no noticeable flare issues, and the 3-stop measure is quite accurate.

[Glass] Most ND filters do not block IR at the level suggested by their rating so images are overexposed if you use an LE calculator. These Firecrest ND filters are great for long exposure IR shooting with the resulting exposures very near what the calculator suggests.

[Glass] Great for long exposures, have the 6 stop and split Nd filters also from formatt Hitech, Highly recommend.

[0.165 lb] suppose you want to shoot wide open f/ 1.4 or f/1.2.. counting down from the "sunny 16 rules" from a bright sunny day, you would need a 2-3 stop worth of ND filter for the camera to be able to shoot at that open aperature, this can do it!! The mild color cast is easily adjusted post.
