Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have lost the lens cap for my Nikkor AF-S 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5G ED lens. Is this the cap that I need as a replacement?

A: Yes, the Nikkor 18-70mm uses a 67mm filter thread so this lens cap will work for you.

Q: 2. Which lens cap fits AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105mm 1:3.5-56G ED.

A: Any 67mm snap on lens cap such as this one will work just fine for your AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED lens.

Q: 3. Which lens cap fits the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm 1:3.5-6.3 G ED VR?

A: I have the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-300mm, 1:4.5-5.6 G and the Nikon 67 mm lens cap us what I use.

Q: 4. Are these made of "soft" rubber, or is there a fair amount of stiffness? Example - if I rest my camera on a flat surface, will the weight of most standard lenses collapse the bottom of the hood? Trying to get an idea for how much "flex" these rubber hoods have.

A: If resting your camera on a flat surface, the #900 Rubber Lens Hood would flex slightly.

Q: 5. For the 67mm model, what is the diameter of the hood when collapsed and uncollapsed, respectively?

A: The 67mm hood is 1/2 inch when collapsed, and 1 and 1/2 inches when open.

Q: 6. Which lens cap fits for nikon d80? (18-135mm lens)

A: 67mm for the Nikon 18-135. Camera body does not matter

Q: 7. For the 67mm, does it work with Tamron 28-75 2.8 RXD for Sony Full Frame? I saw a similar review but unsure if it was this specific lens.

A: My experiences only with a Canon G15 and a Bower 58mm lens adaptor AND this Rubber lens hood. Vignetting was bothersome at wide 28mm zoom position (widest for G15) My solution was to purchase a 58mm Sensei screw-on Tulip lens hood. Vignetting was much reduced but still can be seen slightly at the 28mm wide angle setting. By cropping the images, we can live with the problem.

Q: 8. Will this lens hood work on a Nikon p900 ?

A: You can use it , it might vignette on wide angle , if that happens you can push the hood inwards

Q: 9. What lens cap fits the AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm lens?

A: This Nikon 67mm Snap-On Lens Cap will fit a Nikon AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED IF Lens.

Q: 10. Is there any reason this 67mm B+W rubber hood will not work on a canon 70-200 F4/L IS zoom. I hike and shoot in wooded/rocky areas. It may provide added protection to my lens. ?

A: If the size, 67mm, matches your lense, it will most likely work. I purchased to install on a new Nikon P900, to have some protection from side bumps, etc . and reduce side light reflections, but I also installed a 0 Filter inside this hood to help protect the actual lens glass. Have seen no problems with the quality of the pictures taken, but when my long zoom lens on this camera is at my normal wide angle setting, I have to fold the rubber hood back or will get the rounded corners showing up in the pictures. I also fold the hood when storing in my small camera case which it does very easily.

[0.16 lb] I didn't see any reviews here, so I'd chime in:

I purchased this with the Sigma 105mm f/1.4, and surprised that it has no noticeably color cast (compared to some ND filters for my 85mm lens).

I'm quite satisfied. The glass is very thin and light, like 30-50% of the weight of a UV filter for the same diameter.

I use this to get wider apertures in the studio setting, given that my strobes can remain fairly strong, and the ambient lighting can either be cut at higher shutter speeds (1/200) or introduced at lower speeds (1/30-1/60). A joy to use.

[Glass] Hi,

Purchased in late 2020 for Sigma 105mm 1.4 (Nikon).

This ND filter is really good because it does not create any color cast. The ND allows me to use the lens at f1.4 without overexposing the shadows (while using my strobes). It is a great ND filter, more neutral than a few others I purchased for a 85mm 1.8.

High recommendations.

[0.16 lb] First thing I was told... Linear Polarizer Filters will not work with my Canon 7D (and other digital cameras). Supposedly autofocus malfunctions. WRONG! Attached to my EFS10-22mm, autofocus works no different than normal. I've used Linear Polarizers on my EFS18-200mm and 70-300mm lenses without issue. Combined with Depth-Of-Field tweaking, the Linear filter works great when photographing well defined clouds or objects agains't the sky. I say put this will not work with rumor in the Untrue folder next to claims regarding Nitrogen filled tires. I've tested both claims and found them inaccurate. To me, Linear Polarizer filters are an important part of my camera kit. I prefer them over Circular Polarizer filters.

[Glass] Most ND filters do not block IR at the level suggested by their rating so images are overexposed if you use an LE calculator. These Firecrest ND filters are great for long exposure IR shooting with the resulting exposures very near what the calculator suggests.

[Glass] You get what you pay for when it comes to filters, but you also don't have to pay $200+ for the big names. This thing has basically no color cast, adds no noticeable flare issues, and the 3-stop measure is quite accurate.

[0.16 lb] I was on a short road trip and used this alone, and with the Formatt Hitech 10 stop ND filter. The results were superb in both cases - no colour cast. An added benefit of the Formatt filter is it is very thin, so vignetting is less of an issue. I would encourage people to take a filter wrench, just in case...

[0.16 lb] suppose you want to shoot wide open f/ 1.4 or f/1.2.. counting down from the "sunny 16 rules" from a bright sunny day, you would need a 2-3 stop worth of ND filter for the camera to be able to shoot at that open aperature, this can do it!! The mild color cast is easily adjusted post.

[0.16 lb] Highly recommended.

I purchased a 4-stop ND filter (1.2). It never comes off my Sigma 105mm f/1.4.

Practically all my headshots and portraits (250 clients) since the purchase were taken with this filter. I can keep the shutter speed in a reasonable range with strobes (1/30 -- 1/200) without relying on high-speed sync. I can also keep the strobes at a reasonable range (1/4 -- 1/128), which wouldn't be possible without a 4-stop loss of light transmission.

Other ND filters have funky colors - maybe I was lucky but this one has not created any noticeable color shift. Thank you Formatt!!
