The matte black Microtech Gefell M 910 is a hypercardioid condenser microphone intended for a wide range of stage and studio applications. Well suited for close-miking solo vocalists and instrumentalists and carefully engineered to deliver clean, natural, and transparent recordings, the mic provides a well-balanced frequency response across a wide 40 Hz to 18 kHz range with a gentle boost in the 7 to 12 kHz band for additional presence. The 1" diaphragm is suspended in an inverted basket that isolates the mic from handling noise and features a three-layer mesh grille that shields the capsule from plosives and vocals pops. The unusual design is comfortable for handheld vocal performances while giving the M 910 a remarkably distinctive appearance. The transformerless impedance transducer uses a balanced output stage that guarantees a high-output capability and low intrinsic noise.

Recommended mic placement is at least 8 to 12 inches from your source, any closer and you'll get a noticeable increase in low frequencies due to the proximity effect—of course this can be desirable in some instances, if you're looking for a more pronounced bottom end. A high-pass filter is also on board to reduce unwanted low frequencies below 90 Hz, while a -10 dB pad can be engaged if you're miking up louder sources such as guitar amps. The hypercardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture tightly on the sound source directly in front of the capsule, helping to isolate the mic from other sound sources, including on-stage monitors, greatly reducing feedback issues during live performances.

A: When any output device is connected to iOS, the built-in speaker is disabled. This is similar to when headphones are connected to your iOS device. Unfortunately, this is not not behavior which can be altered at this time, but we do hope Apple changes this in the future.

[-10 dB] Let me try to break this down as short as I can. I had been saving and dreaming of acquiring a u87ai for years. Recently I had clients not pleased with the colorization my mojave audio 201 fet mic was giving my vocals for narration duties. So I started thinking of buying a tlm 103 after having returned it a year ago because it was just to harsh for my voice. Although it was silky and extremely detailed, It just was to sibilant for me and sounded harsh in the higher frequencies for me. So researching I came across Gefell and how it is actually the Neumann family still in charge of Gefell while modern Neumann mics are made by senheisser. So I took a chance, and ordered the m930. Wow oh wow. It takes the best of the tlm 103 and does it even better. It's just as silky, and much more pleasing. I think of it actually closer to the u87ai but without the boxy midrange that mic is notorious for. It sits between the u87ai and tlm 103, but sits closer to the u87ai. I think my u87ai desires have been put to rest with the m930. It's so clean, clear, and silky. My voice has a lot of natural color, so the m930 works wonderful not adding any more and actually makes my voice sound much more pleasing. I wish I would've gotten this mic sooner when I first started doing voice work. It's compact, with a big open natural sound. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. 5

[Solid-State] Solid metal construction. Even compared to the Sennheiser, the noise floor and sensitivity were better than I expected, so I purchased a second one for church. The foam windscreen is garbage, but with studio work this is not needed (and I have a couple 'blimps' in my wishlist for outdoor work). 5

[Solid-State] As far as I'm concerned this mic IS the best bang for the buck on the market. Period. Full stop. Leaps and bounds better than other mics in its price range. You can buy 4 of these for the price of an MKH416. Buying a second now. Wish I could still get it for $169 like I did the first one. 5

[90 Hz ] The D1 arrived yesterday, it was well packaged. The value is outstanding. The case is very decent. The advertised SNR is 78dB, probably about right. The hypercardioid pattern is very focused with good off axis noise rejection. I've had the D2 for a year or so and like the build quality, extremely solid. The D1 is not as indestructible as the D2 but seems durable enough. The D1 being able to be battery powered allows it to be used where the D2 cannot. For example, I can use it instead of a lapel mic with my wireless transmitter. Sounds great. 5
