Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Atbthe bottom of the mic can i just comnect that to a tascam and start recording. Cause my friend has this huge mic with the soft sound thing around and did that. So do i need anything like the phantom power to operate this?

A: Not good, don't buy it

Q: 2. Is there a specific type of interface that must be purchased to work with this?

A: As the other respondents said it is an XLR connection, however not all USB interfaces can provide the phantom power that condenser microphones need. Make sure that your interface or whatever mixer you use make sure it has phantom power (48v)

Q: 3. Is this mic compatible with this https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1023480-REG/auray_bai_2x_2_sect_brdcst_arm.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1023480-REG/auray_bai_2x_2_sect_brdcst_arm.html/a ?

A: Yeah! The kits themselves come with all of the materials you need to rig it up, too.

Q: 4. I hear a very loud, persistent, high-pitched ring when I record with my laptop. Is there a way to fix that? Also, my table stand does not fit the shock mount :/

A: As for the the shock mount, please double check that any smaller thread adapter inside the thread area of mount has been removed. This often can be achieved with a penny or nickel. Regarding the high pitched ring, there could be many reasons for noise issues, I do recommend calling in to our team of specialists for assistance.

Q: 5. does this mic have usb?

A: This is an XLR microphone - there is no USB output. The Senal UB-440 Professional USB Microphone B&H # SEUB440 might be a similar comparable USB model.

Q: 6. Is this one mic capsule and one pre or a stereo set of 2 capsules and 2 pres ?

A: Based on the manual and information I am finding on this, this is only 1 mic capsule. It is timbrally identical with the other 8000-series microphones for optimum aural compatibility, so that you can capture a group of instruments in the same way that you would use a stereo pair of mics.

Q: 7. Can this be connected to a iPhone with an adaptor?

A: Yesm the sE Electronics sE2200 can be connected to an iPhone using a mobile audio interface that supplies the 48V phantom power required to power the mic. You can use an interface such as the IK Multimedia iRig Pre (B&H# IKIRIGPRE), iRig Pre HD (B&H# IKIRIGPREHD), Saramonic SmartRig DI (B&H# SASMARTRIGD), SmartRig+ DI (B&H# SASMARTRIGP), TC-Helicon Go Vocal (B&H# TCGOVOCAL) or any other mobile interface designed for use with iOS devices. Some may require an additional adapter for connecting to a Lightning port. The Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (B&H# APLAADAP) can be used for that purpose.

Q: 8. does this come with a cable you can plug into a computer with?

A: These are not USB microphones. They would need an interface to connect to a computer via USB.

Q: 9. Where do I find my serial number to make my account on sound forge. All it gave me was a piece of paper that let me download it.

A: I apologize, but this type of request cannot be taken care of through this feature of our website. Please contact our Customer Service department by entering Live Chat, emailing directly to cs@a href= http://bhphoto.com, target= _blank bhphoto.com,/a or calling us toll-free at 800.221.5743.

Q: 10. "You can power the mic with 48V phantom power." This sentence is in the description for this product. I don't understand. Is it necessary to buy an additional accessory to use this mic?

A: In order to use this mic, you will need a mixer, interface, or hardware recorder with an XLR mic input, and the ability to provide 48v phantom power. As well, you would need an XLR mic cable to connect it to either of those sources, a mic stand to attach it to, and a pop filter if recording vocals.

[Mono] Used for live sound with Allen & Heath WZ4 and QSC 16 kW system. Clear and crisp, very controlable especially going into low note vocals. This is a new purchase. Will have to see how it performs a few more times.

[48 V] Replacement because the wires get wrapped around the transmitter by people trying to be neat and they damage the cable. Very nice to be able to just replace the mic w cable.

[Phantom Power] I'm a musician, producer and audio designer, recording professionally for over 5 years. The SM-81 has been the small diaphragm condenser of choice in many studios since it was released. I own a pair of them and have used them primarily as drum overhead mics, and for stereo mic'ing acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments. The SM-81 is one of the most accurate mic's I've used (what you hear is what you get). They are also very well made... like long, silver, cylindrical jewels. The -10db pad and low end roll off switches are easy to get to, but not easy to accidentally switch on or off. They are also one of the quietest (low self-noise) mics. Many jazz artists love them because of their accuracy. They also work quite well for recording choirs and pipe organs.

[End Address] I use this mic with an ATW-T1801 transmitter and an ATW-1801 receiver as one wireless system for video recording. The primary events are weddings and corporate events. The mic is a little bigger than I would prefer, and it is bigger than the mic that came with another ATW-1801 system that I have. But, overall, it does the job that I need done.

[Mono] Let me try to break this down as short as I can. I had been saving and dreaming of acquiring a u87ai for years. Recently I had clients not pleased with the colorization my mojave audio 201 fet mic was giving my vocals for narration duties. So I started thinking of buying a tlm 103 after having returned it a year ago because it was just to harsh for my voice. Although it was silky and extremely detailed, It just was to sibilant for me and sounded harsh in the higher frequencies for me. So researching I came across Gefell and how it is actually the Neumann family still in charge of Gefell while modern Neumann mics are made by senheisser. So I took a chance, and ordered the m930. Wow oh wow. It takes the best of the tlm 103 and does it even better. It's just as silky, and much more pleasing. I think of it actually closer to the u87ai but without the boxy midrange that mic is notorious for. It sits between the u87ai and tlm 103, but sits closer to the u87ai. I think my u87ai desires have been put to rest with the m930. It's so clean, clear, and silky. My voice has a lot of natural color, so the m930 works wonderful not adding any more and actually makes my voice sound much more pleasing. I wish I would've gotten this mic sooner when I first started doing voice work. It's compact, with a big open natural sound. I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

[Phantom Power] I was looking for an SM-81 to record acoustic guitars anyway - it was recommended to me by a friend who teaches recording engineering - and I thought the bundle was too good to pass up. It did not disappoint. The SM-81 is clearly legendary for a reason. I've now made multiple recordings with it, with several different guitars, and the tracks sit perfectly in the mix with no additional EQ and no fuss. Today I tracked a vocal with it and was stunned by how well it captured my voice. Very very impressed with this mic and I'm not sorry I sprung for the extras.

[Phantom Power] Got while it was 40% off - great sound. Much preferred over the TLM 102/103. It's super sensitive to plosives/handling noise - so that's been a learning curve but I am very happy I made the investment.

[End Address] After doing much research I settled on buying 2 of these. I had done some previous recording with 2 SM57's, but the SM81's have a flatter sound. I have only used these to record trumpet, but they sound is great and handles the loud sound and quick response very well. I also bought a Fathead Cascade to put right at my bell, and I personally like that sound better when I'm running only one mic. The 81's are going to sound great in the hall though. I do wish that they made one box for two mics.

[End Address] We use these mics for sound reinforcement in a wide variety of live events. They are simple, dependable, good-sounding microphones. However, the cord is a little fragile, but any cord this small is going to be fragile.

[End Address] These mini cardioid mics work great as long as the users don't wrap the cord around the transmitter.
